  • Bought one, prime trial ending tomorrow, just in time! XD thanks OP

Their promo video is whack. Even without the tool, who deals with avocados like that?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB6WK3m0TyE

      • Ahh, old school Simpsons. Don't make 'em like that anymore.

    • +3

The first half…. How useless that person is to mangle the avocado like that.
And all you need is a butter knife and soup/dessert spoon and you have avocados just like they say their fancy tool does (which I bet doesn’t work as easy)
Another kitchen gadget to sit in the kitchen drawers never to be used.

      • +1

Exactly. These tools that require a very specific shape and size food are a joke and landfill.

  • I dunno, they make it look easy. I bought one of these last time, and I must be special, because I don’t get it.

    • +4

I don't have this particular tool. I think we have tried 2 or 3 different ones. They all seem to do one or two things well but then are really terrible at something else. Generally end up just using a sharp knife and a spoon.

      • +4

I see you've played knifey spooney before

      • +1

I was going to say that's all you need too. Quick cut around the stone, twist the two halves apart, lightly strike the stone with the knife so it sticks in, twist the stone out with the knife then scoop the flesh out with a big spoon. Takes seconds and it's using what you already have.

        • I usually just have the knife without spoon. Cut in half, strike the stone, then peel off the skin and slice.

  • +16

Because slicing an avocado and removing the stone with just any old kitchen knife is so damned difficult.

    Said no one ever.

    • Someone said it otherwise this thing wouldn’t exist and be out of stock.

      • What they really said was "we ran out of good ideas, what snakeoil can we peddle now?"

    • +2

      Joseph Joseph did.

    • +1

This. I bought a fancy tool decades ago. It just makes a mess (and to clean, too). I eat avo daily, a butter knife does everything I need it to (including the stone).

      • +1

        Exactly.

    • Said no one ever.

The woman in this video begs to differ!

      https://www.foodandwine.com/news/avocado-injuries-statistics

Imagine having to take weeks off work because you hurt yourself cutting an avocado, gee whiz.

      • Imagine having your hand anywhere near the avo while you're swinging the knife.

      • These people are why we need to put dairy allergen advice on milk bottles.

    • I mean you just did. Technically.

  • Oos

  • Wannabe swiss avo knife

  • Avocado from Mexico 😍

  • Just bought

  • Out of stock but can still be purchased…

  • Tried this tool and it works very well.

  • +3

    Landfill trash.

    • -5

Are you one of those people that buy things and throw them away?

      • -7

        Every negger is.

        • Thank you for sharing

          • -2

@Traffic Cones: Why would you buy something and throw it in the trash? People like studentl0an are literally contributing to the problem the worst for buying stuff to put in the trash.

            • @Clear: Oh damn I didn't realise this lasted for all eternity, only $7 too! What a bargain!

Buy a good kitchen knife that'll last you 50 years instead and learn to use it.

My bet is you're one of these people that have every [product] maker in existence. (pie, popcorn, samosa, ice cream, pizza, you name it)

              • -1

@decc0: Nah I just post deals. 99.9% of things shared I don't buy.

                • @Clear: Fair enough but these products are contributing to landfill. Not sure why you singled out a particular user for pointing this out..

Not sure what you're supposed to do with it once it breaks. Hoard it in your bottom kitchen drawer?

                  • -2

@decc0: They make these pointless comments all the time. The product isn't made to order so the comment is stupid. It's mass produced so it's destined to be in the ground like most things (even us) in the end.

                    • +1

@Clear: Supporting mass produced gimmicks with significant profit margins such as this only encourages more of this on the market … If no one bought, there would be no future batches. Presumably the backorders are a future batch.

At least we are mostly (well not plastic celebrities) biodegradable.

                    • @Clear: What pointless comments?

So you're writing that my comment wasn't just pointless, but stupid - pretty sure that's against the rules of this website.

                      • -1

@studentl0an: It's not a personal attack against you. I just think comments saying landfill are pointless and stupid when some people will find these things useful, while others do not.

We're allowed to have our opinions on the matter.

                        • @Clear: It's a very clear personal insult against me. You wrote that my comments are stupid, pointless and stipulated that I make them all the time. You also wrote that I buy products to throw them away, which I think you need to consider if that statement is what you accused me of in the prior accusation about my comments.

My comments are informative. Here's one example of how I've had to correct your incorrect information in the past:
                          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11742151/redir

                          There's more too.

I think you should reconsider your replies to others, and not devolve to insulting them when they point out problems with products you post.

                          • -1

@studentl0an: I was specifically referring to the comments about landfill. We're disagreeing with each other on whether not this product and others are landfill. It's part of the reason why people can upvote and downvote accordingly on this website.

That link to AZAU is irrelevant to this conversation. Sometimes we get information wrong in posts. Whether that's the store providing wrong information that we've copied from or has been interpreted incorrectly. I'm always happy to fix up a post where I've provided wrong information.

                            • @Clear: If you disagreed about the product ending up in the landfill then you could have just said that rather than go on a comment chain making personal insults directed towards me.

That comment I made in another thread is directly relevant to this discussion. Note how I didn't insult you at all, I just gave the correct information and let it be. You wrote that I made stupid, pointless comments all the time and I found a direct, incredibly relevant example as to why the information I provide is perhaps more relevant than yours.

I just want you to not insult others and to not take it personally when others point out that the product you post is landfill trash. Look at the votes for my comment - there's those in the community that agrees with what I wrote about this product and disagree with how you dealt with my comment. You didn't need to go on a tirade after that.

Just let it be and move on.

                              • -1

@studentl0an: I'm sorry if you felt that I was insulting you. It's just frustrating to have people always crap on deals that you put effort into finding. Post an Android phone deal and you'll get an Apple fan saying it's landfill. It can be really discouraging and I know other posters feel the same way.

                                No matter I'll drop it.

      • No, I'm the opposite of that. Really if you had the slightest bit of deductive reasoning you should have concluded that I actually care about the environment rather than my own post count on this website.

You on the other hand.. well you do like to post a lot of trash products that are destined for a landfill.

    • +3

      Agreed. Who buys this crap?

      • My mum

      • I've got a rule for gadgets and tools like this, if it's not used by professionals it's probably garbage

  • OOS. I'm so upset. I really needed this for my avocado business. I love avo. Avo is my life and my husband.

    • -1

Pretty sure you can afford it full price then.

      • How is anything I said indicative of my affordability of avocados?

        • -1

          You have an avo business..

Not that you'd need one to afford this at rrp.

  • Now do one for peeling an orange

  • The destone part of the tool is rubbish, or I can’t work it out, I’ve never been able to use it properly

    • Looks like you're meant to cut it off centre. If you slice down the middle there wouldn't be enough stone to grab?

  • +1

Shame all the avocados at the moment taste like arse.

  • Still awaiting my trees to produce this year, by this time last year already picked 100, zip so far

    • Might be that you left the crop on the tree too long last year. If you let them stay on the tree can skip a year of production.

      • Nah lack of bees figured out got some hives coming

  • Available again

  • +2
