Someone tell me this TV is trash, because aldi doesn't deliver to my area.

    • It’s trash, why have they gone away from android tv to an inferior operating system (app wise).

      • +15

Just buy a Google chromecast TV - much better than the inbuilt Android systems anyway.

        • +4

          This is the way.

        • And cost much less!

      • +3

        Is webos no longer good?
Was my favourite when I had a nice OLED a few years ago

Current favourite is external Apple TV 4k box

        • It’s a personal thing, I prefer android cause it has the apps I want to use.

        • +1

webOS usually does what the AndroidOS or (AndroidTV) models do, with about the same update schedule. Not that anything changes much. But it is superior because it typically is smoother, more responsive, and the UX is more intuitive (and gets out of your way).

Sure, it doesn't have much in the way of TV Games, but that's more for the Apple TV, Nvidia Shield TV, Xbox, and PlayStation.

          • +2

@Kangal: Webos doesn’t have Foxtel Go which is a pretty big omission.

            • @[Deactivated]: that doesn't work on any android device with android 12 anyway so it's pointless. (have a shield tv and just went though it a month ago with foxtel)

              • +1

@zmcgr1: Have you tried looking for an option to join the beta app? That's what they did on Android phones during initial 12 rollout.

                • +1

@Kanjus: spoke to foxtel themselves and they didn't offer it because the beta was mobile only (my information is a month old but according to reddit posts it's an issue since android 12 was released). i do know about the kodi work around but if you have to pay for something they really should have a working app.

WebOS with a Magic Remote rules!

    • If you're not a television aficionado I think it's a great price for an 85" however I'm not sure how reliable the panels are. Can you get it delivered to a family/friend and pickup from there?

      • +2

My family all live in the same area as me. No delivery options, so now I'm just coping. :)

    • +9

their panels are absolute trash, you saved your self the hassle of having to return it back to the factory

      • Well that is great news. Thankyou!

      • I have a 70" version of this same TV. Paid $700. For the price, and as a secondary display device it was a great deal. Yes, the panel isn't as good as my Panasonic Plasma with Kuro technology, however, given the use case, it's fine. The biggest issue is colour uniformity. This is especially visible when displaying solid gray colour. WebOS is also fine and has all the apps I need - Plex and Amazon Prime. TV navigation is also very decent.

    • +1

      I wouldn’t buy a 85” TV with 60 Hz refresh rate

      • Absolutely valid point. The motion judder will be awful. Also wouldn't expect the motion smoothing to make things any better. You can get an awesome 65" at that price. Bigger != Better.

        • +1

Disagree about the size. I have a 65" LG C-series, and wish I'd gone for a 77", as that would really let that 4k content shine. An 85" OLED would be my dream TV - hoping to be able to afford one in 5 or so years.

        • I agree Bigger is not necessarily better if we are talking about TV / picture quality. But in terms of visual and perception , bigger is always better. Going from any tv to a larger size always impresses you visually just like going from a TV to a larger projector screen

    • +3

they had the Costco $1799 Hisense 85" a week ago or the same tv from TGG eBay for $1700 delivered for that eBay deal.

I know time machine comments are kinda annoying, but just to let you know there will be future deals that can deliver to ur area. + I would pick the Hisense over the Braun.

      • Thanks for the information.
        Fingers crossed for future deals.

  • Unfortunately, ALDI delivery service is currently unavailable in your area

    Perth Metro

    • +11

      They only deliver to Australia

      • -1

        Not Westralia.

  • +1

Worth it if they come back and pick it up if you don't like it

  • It has been this price since last year

    • It hasn't been available throughout the period of time though?

      • +1

I didn't check every day but it was available on 3 separate occasions I checked over the last 6 months (friends and family were looking for TV's and I recommended this every time - noone bought one though)

  • +1

Anyone remember the old days when an Aldi TV would launch and there would be lines around the block because the price was so good?

    Those days are long gone….

    • My first flat panel was an Aldi 42" for $999. The next cheapest (anywhere else) was twice that at the time.

    • Funny literally just visited a store and they were full with the smaller TVs this week. Unsure if they just restocked but looked like they hadn't sold a single one!

    • +1

32" Aldi 1080p dumb TV for $250. Mine is still going strong today (picture quality is trash even for 1080p standards though).

    • Probably no longer happens because Kogan knocked-off Aldi's business model and you can get a cheap TV any day of the week.

  • $200 delivery

    • +1

Depends on location, $99 for me in Melbourne

      • I’m 13km closer to Melbourne cbd than Kalkallo yet double the delivery 🤷‍♂️

        • I doubt Aldi's distribution's centre is in the CBD though so…

  • I've got one of these and the smaller 70ish inch one also.

I just use a Chromecast. Audio is pretty shit but overall it's a good RV for its price range

  • -1

$1500 for an Aldi tv ?

    • +7

      $1500 for an 85” tv?

      • -2

        60Hz for 85" tv?

(what's the max brightness, and the contrast ratio??)

      • +1

For $400 more get a Hisense. or a used one from another better brand . This doesn't even have eARC so you won't be able to have Dolby Atmos if you connect a soundbar to it. Which you gonna need because the sound is likely to suck

  • +3

Not sure if this is worthy of it's own deal but Big W have a 75" Ultra HD QLED 100Hz Android for $1,099
    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/eko-75-ultra-hd-qled-100hz-a…

    • My parents got a Big W 70" Eko Android tv for $599 and its amazing for the price.

      • I also got an Eko from Big W last year but it was 70" and 4k but not sure if it's QLED (cost $684). It looks great but a bit laggy sometimes when changing between apps. I think it needs more RAM or faster CPU

      • +1

seems like 70" is the sweet spot on price per inch metric ?

        • It definitely was for the deal I found for my parents. Must have been clearance because only a handful of Big W stores had them. They initially wanted a 75 inch but the price per inch was far worse

  • +7

Way too big for a TV that does poor upscaling.

If size is the most important thing, and you like watching blocks and burning heaps of electricity…this is the TV for you.

    • and you like watching blocks

Well, Minecraft and Lego do seem pretty popular these days 😆

  • $100 for shipping to metro Melbourne… What exactly are Aldi smoking?

    • It's a big TV

  • Only a one year warranty.

How is this a deal though?

This is just an advertisement now

    • +1

Agreed. This has been for sale on their website for months.
      Where is the deal?
The delivery fee is extortionate and not optional. $100 even if it's being delivered to the same suburb as the factory.

  • This looked good until I read the comments here! I'm still kicking along with a 75" from 2015!

  • I thought Aldi didnt have an online system / purchasing system? A friend who works for Aldi even told me that they were not interested in getting into that market. I am surprised and hope they get more into the online market.

  • 85" of a trash panel. No thanks

    • 85" of a trash panel. No thanks

What a wonderful world we must live in when an 85" flatscreen TV for $1500 is considered a bad deal…

  • (Possibly sponsored?) review here: https://fb.watch/c0OHvXa4f4/
Pretty decent for the $$ is the TLDR

  • Did anyone manage to get one of these yet?

    • Yes

      • +1

        How are you finding it?

Mine just got delivered 2 days ago.

Haven't watched it much but I'm pretty happy with it.

Only concern is that it doesn't seem overly stable in the stands, so I'm waiting for the free safety straps to arrive so I can worry less.

I can't get any free to air channels on it, but I'm 99% sure it's due to my antenna.

        Also for anyone interested:
The tv seems to be a rebranded LG. All the menus and terms and condition refer to the tv being LG when you switch it on.

Shipping time is pretty quick - about 1 week wait only in Melbourne.

        • +1

I love it! Don’t know what people are talking about looking blocky and having a poor panel, however it could be that the defect rate is higher with low end TV’s and we just got lucky or that previous panels were rubbish and this is an LG panel? Colour is amazing and no bleed. Haven’t really tested the blacks but I don’t see any issues and the Magic Remote is very nice to use.
The reason it has LG stuff is becoz it running WebOS (LG) but I highly recommend getting ChromeCast + GoogleTV and setup the remote as Toshiba and you can control the TV too. U can also add apps so u can stream FreeTV instead of using an antenna.
Sound is crap but I think that’s the case with most TV’s so I got the Bauhn soundbar and its fine.
I’ve wall mounted mine so haven’t experienced the stand issue you’re having.
The only negative I have is I don’t understand why they have a fixed power cord and worst thing it is pointing down so if you mount this high on a wall, ur gonna see the cord.
