This seller appears to be a clearance outlet for a major retailer. I added some Ex Display Ovens/Rangehoods here. I won't mention it here without confirmation, but if you search 'Druin' (the name of the eBay seller) and 'Taren Point' (location of the seller) you will see. Some eBay listings also mention their 'Sydney Warehouse'.

I'm not seeing any eBay codes that apply to the listing, unless you have eBay plus you can use your $5 off coupon.

Anyone know if I can join eBay plus for a month @$4.99 and then immediately use the PLUS5C $5 coupon?

  • Just confirming that it's Harvey Norman Commercial as the seller - I've bought plenty of bargains through them in the past. Not the quickest shipping in the world, but given the low pricing they often have I can live with a week or two wait.

  • Newbie here, how's the wireless connection compared to a bluetooth headphone for walking outside or commuting?

    • It only works within range of the transmitter - so no good for outside the immediate vicinity of your house.

      • Yes, like those old base station wireless telephones. It has a little radio transmitter in the base and the headphones are effectively a stereo radio, so the range is limited by the base station output. Perhaps across one decent sized room, two if you are lucky.

        • Do you actually have this model? I do. Will work across the whole house and even down the driveway, but gets a bit crackly then. Remember it is analog. Much better range than Bluetooth.

          • @constipated: Yes, I have the earlier model. I like it for watching TV as its pretty comfortable but being RF, it is quite affected by the construction materials of the house and any and all electrical interference in the immediate area. Where I live signaIs can be quite congested and I get just two rooms but with some staticky patches here and there in the second. Three rooms is not possible. I am sure say in the country or out in the burbs, with few other RF sources the distance would be far greater, so it is totally case by case.

        • I have this model and can put out the garbage bin and still hear clearly when Bluetooth has long clapped out.

Ah got it, thanks for the explanation!

  • Cheers op got one for the bedroom

  • Apologies for my ignorance but why would someone get this over bluetooth headphones?

    • Well for me I have a shit Kogan tv and it’s too hard to pair it with my Bluetooth headphones

      • +2

Wouldn't a Bluetooth transmitter be better? I am guessing it goes into a 3.5mm slot which most TVs should have? And then you can use any Bluetooth headset lying around.

        • Definitely possible , I have some other sennheiser headphones with a wireless receiver and they have lasted years , they seem to be good quality for the price .

        • +1

Yeah we went this route via a Avantree bundle from amazon for the old man.
Transmitter and headphones support bluetooth low latency. Connects to either the 3.5 or an optical out on the tv. Fully successful.

I remember debating that versus this RF based senny and the senny had pretty variable reviews for interference and sound quality, etc. Basically its old school compared to bluetooth LL.

    • +1

Some bluetooth has delay which make them unusable.
If you have some low latency bluetooth headphones that would be good.

Not sure which popular bluetooth headphones would have this low latency that makes it good for TV viewing?

I’ve had these connected to TV’s for years - easily the most comfortable headphones to wear for extended periods watching tv etc & imho are a lot better (no delay) connection more so than any Bluetooth ones I’ve had.

    • I've had mine about 10 years but they are a bit busted up now. Thinking of switching to bluetooth earbuds so I can lie down more easily.

  • Currently on sale for $169 at Sennheiser.(sennheiser-hearing.com)

That's f**king laughable given these are now 9 years old. The RS 120 IIs were going for $60 dollars back in 2014 and that's about what they're worth.

I seem to remember the sound quality was pretty bad even back in 2012/2013 when these things released; I can't imagine it's going to compare favourably even to some fairly entry-level Bluetooth headphones today.

    • +1

Very decent sound quality for the price, if your TV doesn't support Bluetooth connectivity. I've also used the RS 170, RS 180 and RS 175, which are much more expensive and use better technology, but I was surprised at how good the RS 120 actually were. With newer TV's these day, it makes sense to use your best pair of Bluetooth headphones.

EDIT: I've found them comfortable for watching a couple of movies in one sitting.

  • Great price, I've had a pair for years as an alternative to my Bose QC35iis

The sound quality is worse than Bose but the range is a bit further, though with significant drop in audio quality too.

  • I was excited as I was looking for a pair of Bluetooth headphones until I realised this was something else. It's a good deal none the less for sennheisser :)

  • RF? Like what you used to use to hook the NES up to a CRT?
Why in 2022 do we still have this?

  • +4

I have the RS110. Don't know what the difference is. Paid $99 in 2010. Barely used in 12 years. They live in a box in the shed.

In my opinion this is a poor deal.

    • Ancient design
    • FM quality sound. These aren't digital RF, they're analogue. You tune the signal with a knob.
    • Claims of 100m range are crap. It'll work from TV to couch, but go to another room and you're likely to introduce interference.
    • On-ear (not over ear) with very thin foam padding over hard plastic, so uncomfortable for extended wear.
    • Old battery tech (NiMH) with a dumb charging system that will kill the batteries over time. But they are easily replaceable.
    • +2

piqued my interest but this shut it down good. thank you sir.

  • +3

Sennheiser or not, these are terrible. Dont bother with RF. Static out the wazoo. Muffled as hell.

  • Can you replace the on ear pads with over ear ?

    • +1

No unfortunately, but they are very comfortable and the sound quality is not a problem.

  • OK so if these are bad does anyone have a good wireless headset solution for pc?

I want something I can go across the house to the bathroom with and listen to my music while also listening out for when my game queue starts :)

Gotta stop that toilet break mid exertion and run back to the battle station :)

My current Bluetooth headphones don't make it all the way to my toilet at the other end of the house so looking for higher powered solutions.

Don't need a microphone just sound output.

    • You might want to consider something with more transmitting power, like an Avantree DG60 (thought the reviews are not so hot on that one) or something similar that connects to your PCs optical out (assuming it has one). My old man has a Avantree Oasis Plus and I can be well out in the back yard listening to the TV at the front of the house where the unit is plugged in to. Not cheap tho.

      • Thanks I'll keep that in mind.

Yeah looking for mostly budget cheap options for this buy as otherwise I'll just go with out it.

  • I have this and can confirm they are below average. It may be Sennheiser the brand but not even close to their quality. RF headphones are old tech and they don't make them anymore. Better off investing in Bluetooth headphones that have low latency, long battery and decent range.

  • Available again, new listing was added.

  • Amazon have price matched.

    • Probably better off eBay at the moment, using code TOP5IT to make it $93.10.

      • Yeah, they are still showing the AFTERPAY coupon as well for me. I guess it depends on how much you trust this seller. You have covered that in the OP though.
