A new low?
DJI Mini 3 rumoured to be out in April but it won’t be this cheap.
This is better than the current SE model, isn’t it?
better distence and camera
I just bought the SE in the recent deal and it totally suitable for my needs which is mainly used to checkout my gutters and solar from time to time without risking a 10m fall. I was half expecting transmission to cut out when standing on the other side of the house without direct line of sight, but seems to be fine.
I previously had a phantom 2 which cost around $2k back in the day, but it was massive, had a relatively short flight time and is super loud. I'm impressed the cheapest proper dji drone seems to be better than my old phantom in everyway. I especially like how cheap extra batteries are in comparison to the old phantom series.
I have just bought 1 for the same reason.
I was half expecting transmission to cut out
They've come a long way from using WiFi.
I have a Mavic Pro (i.e. Mavic 1) and I've had control and visuals to about 400m in a standard suburban environment, and extreme distances in rural/farm environments (tested to the range of my vision to stay within eyesight laws, had no issues with control and FPV visuals, would likely be able to control up to about 5km away if I wanted to properly test it)
The SE has 'enhanced WiFi'.
In testing mine, I get about 1km in suburban areas, and about 3 or so km in rural areas.
It's a far-cry from the 10km of the Mini 2, but 1-3km is actually REALLY far away. It's easy to forget this.
@loksmack: so what happen when we try to fly it over its limit will the drone refuse to move further? (and the app give notification i guess?)
@CyberMurning: When it loses signal, the drone will automatically 'return to home'.
Mmmmm…tempting. But what can I do with it, since there seems to be so many laws regarding where you can even use it?
don't these circumvent most of the laws?
last i looked drones that weighed less than 250g were exempt from most of them but that was a while ago
IIRC they're exempt from being registered but still have to follow all the other rules about where you can and can't fly them.
I think they’ve closed that loophole. Don’t seem to care about weight now except the rule about 5.5km from airport.
Unless you intend to fly your drone for or at work (commercially), pretty much its just precautions, like the 5.5km away from airports, fly it during sun light, 30m away from anyone…etc.
You can fly these closer than 5.5km, that’s the one rule where they mention weight.
@Captain Hindsight: Unless it's a controlled airport, uncontrolled you're ok except in the approach/departure path
@DeepHorizon: Yes, unless you become aware of manned aircraft nearby an uncontrolled airport, you also must land.
That's fair enough but there are so many rules now hardly worth having sadly.
Yes there are laws that determine drone operation. But as it's under 250g they are less strict. https://www.casa.gov.au/knowyourdrone/drone-rules
I’m with you, was thinking of getting a while ago but I want to be able to use it freely without second guessing the laws.
thanks op .. bought one ..
Only 2 left 😁
I bought one of these last april for 900 and only used it 10 times :(
$90 worth of footage per flight?
I think a lot of people would be like this. Buy one have a play and then not use it.
I unable to add to cart :(
Darn..should have waited…
Edit: Gone. Not much stock or ozbargained?
I think it was less than 10 available.
And there were 800+ clicks.
Bugger. Missed it!
Me too :/
Aaaaand it’s gone
Saw the title and thought I didn't need it. Read through the comments about regulations which justified the 'not needing' it in my mind. Read down the comments about low stock and thought 'maybe I should get one'. Read 'out of stock' and now I want one.
The 5 stages of OzB?
The final stage is smashing that refresh button hoping they will come back into stock for a few hours.
I'd be inclined to buy the playmore bundle when it drops.
The Playmore has quite a lot of great accessories and isn't cheap to buy seperately.
About 18 months ago when they did a new DJI (the 2 listed here) the DJI 1 playmore was STUPID cheap. Like under $500 WITH the bundle if I recall.
Did you mean fly more?
That's the one yeah
I have the fly more combo for my version 1. Definitely worth it. The base that it comes in is great, and having three batteries means that I can well…fly more :D
@Blunglefortness: Yeah looking into the drones it looks like it adds so much important value that you'll just get nickel and dimed on later.
I think it even has spare blades and stuff.
Really want a mini 3 in 2 years
Would be good for use of surveying burnt out houses bought after auction
What
Good Read
What an unfortunate experience for the OP and read that was!
They didn't drop the price of the Flymore pack.. dodgy.. lol
Damn, this is cheaper than the quote to repair 1 small component of my drone
Is Dji refresh worth buying?
If you fly it a lot ie. higher risk of crashing it, then yes. But the refresh only works if you can obtain the drone so if you lost it at sea for example, they won't do anything for you. If not, then not really worth it. Regardless, just be extra careful when flying (get it above tree or electric lines, maintain line of sight, rotate 360 and ensure no obstacles before moving horizontally)
That's incorrect. If you lose the drone, you can still get a new one. Only that costs are really high when compared to a replacement.
glad I bought this without thinking about it too much, thanks OP.
Ripper price
Doesn't work with S22 Ultra (yet) .
Learnt the hard way.
Really? The DJI app doesn't work?
Yep, the app has problems with Android 12. The DJI app has never worked with my Pixel 6. DJI have long known about this problem but haven't done anything about it. Their suggestion is literally to use another phone.
All the more reason why I've held back all my devices from going to Android 12. It breaks too many things and probably need 3-6 months for apps to catch up with the new security features and functions.
I thought they updated the app for this now?
@Hammo: Nope, it still only officially supports up to Android 11.
Oh really, I flew my new mini se a couple of days ago using the DJI fly app on my pixel 6 pro and it all worked fine?
@Binchicken22: The DJI Go 4 app crashes immediately for me. I've tried troubleshooting it but can't get it to work at all.
I guess I've been lucky but I've been running the app with a pixel 5 and 12L
beta and then full release with no issues.
Such a (profanity) atrocious customer service response.
I have my previous phone (S8), that I keep in my drone bag that is only used for the drone, so that works for me, but obviously not everyone has that luxury.
bummer, late to the party!
Battery Average Life 3 years
^^ Wow that's amazing, but I doubt you would want to fly that long, you need to eat, sleep and go poopies.
well you can set it to hover and follow you for 3 years..
Image the poo shots?
Seriously for a moment. I have an older DJI Mavic Air, and they are really hard to find batteries for now. These batteries do have a limited life and DJI pumped out drones so fast they not worrying about selling batteries for their older drones.
damnit only had camelcamelcamel for fly more combo, which didnt drop
If anyone missed out, Amazon currently has the DJI Mini SE for $319
$399 now and by a seller that’s just opened and delivery is May.
Back in stock at $739
Thought I could get it at that price but too late
This actually looks a pricing error if you ask me
likely is but Amazon will likely honour too. Unfortunately missed out…
I have received mine today. So fast. So light. Going to view a few videos first to learn how to fly it.
Mine is already stuck in a very tall tree. RIP
Buy another drone and hit it untill fall.
Well, you have not watch videos on do and don't :). How far up the tree?
$469 for me
