Nice, i wonder if the 12 month Lebara sims are on special also. When you search Lebara on the woolies website dont get any results at all.

  • +2

    National wide ?

    • +5

It's available at my local Woolies at Epping north. At least state wide, if it's not nationwide.
      Picked one up. Thanks op!

I can also confirm if you have the once-a-mth 10% discount from other Woolies mobile/insurance, it will also apply to the sim card, bringing the total down to $112.50.

Suncorp's 3% discount on woolies gift card also does work. Bringing the total down to $109, for me.

    • Yes, just picked up Lebara 80gb 180 days for $50 at Lane Cove 2066. Vodafone 12 Month 150GB $125 also available

    • No half price tag but I did a price check at Woolies Brickworks (SA) and turn up to be $125 and bought it.
      Could be nationwide.

  • you dont get 5g with this vodafone plan, dont you?

    • +4

      you do

      • oh, thank you.

    • +5

I can confirm you do get 5G on Vodafone prepaid. I have a $30 sim at the moment and recently got 443mbps download and 70mbps upload speeds.

    • Vodafone branded prepaid is the same as Vodafone postpaid, network access wise (4G, 5G, VoLTE)

      • VoWiFi still missing in action tho'?

yes 5G is fast for data, but voice (VoNR) still a long way off. At home VoWiFi a really decent option…

        • +5

Using Vodafone prepaid now with Wifi calling available.

      • +2

        Missing from prepaid includes:
        - eSIM
        - smartwatch (NumberSync™)

  • +1

Anyone know the expiry date for the Vodafone one?

    • +1

      12 months to activate.

      • -1

        Thanks…

        • +3

          Why the ellipsis?

    • What about Lebara?

      • Hi mehow.
If you are asking for the expiry date for the Lebara Promotion for $80 for 80gb, this promotion ends on April 30th.
Please feel free to call us on 126 122 if you have any further questions.
        Thanks,
        Lebara Team

    Is Vodafone still krap?

    • +3

I'm sure you know their coverage, if it doesn't work where you use it, so be it, don't be a troll.

    • +4

Depends. Where I am, it is better than the speed I used to get on telstra and optus combined.
If you are in a major city, it will work just fine.

      • -1

Vodafone doesn't really work well in major city of Brisbane

        • +2

I dunno man, it works pretty well for me here.

          • @JustHereForDeals: I got caught off guard at plainlands Woolworths today with zero network whatsoever next to national highway and Google pay was just not an option

            • @MrOzbargain: But you are still with a network that you are clearly unhappy with? You have complained on here a couple of times about Vodafone, apparently, it doesn't even work well for you in Brisbane.
If you are in a contract, cancel it and payout the phone, move to Telstra, problem solved. But I assume you aren't in a contract considering this thread is about a prepaid SIM starter kit, which is what we are discussing here as per the OP

    • +2

Significantly better than both Telstra and Optus for me.
Telstra would give me voice dropouts and poor reception at home, Optus' data connection was better but voice problems probably worse. Vodafone has been flawless since I moved 2 months ago.

This has been all with the same phone, and my previous phones on Telstra had the same call quality issues at home

    • Vodafone network coverage for me is still crap, I'm currently using a Kogan 1 month plan inbetween Boost 12 month sim plans. Vodafone is noticably slower and also in shopping centers would have slow or no internet.

    • +1

      Depends on location though.

Where I live, it's better than Telstra and Optus. I don't need wifi calling to call my contacts.

Outside, I lost connection in freaking Marysville

      So it's great for me!

  • Can you use these Vodafone sims to recharge a current prepaid plan?

    • +1

No, new customers only. You can however port out and port back in.

      • Can you port in from Kogan mobile?

        • You sure can :)

  • +1

    Is international call included?

    • No, but 50 standard international texts included.

  • kogan mobile has 200GB for $150 and is on voda network. how is this better? are there additional services? genuinely asking, i was about to pull the trigger on the kogan deal but can hold off until tomorrow to check out woolies…

    • +5

kogan wouldnt have 5g, if that is of concern to you.

      • thanks for the info. yeah true. i dont think that would bother me really…4G is pretty good although i do have a 5g capable phone…hmmm…

        • ive used kogan, coles, and woolies, all of which uses vodafone network if im not mistaken.

I have encountered no issues and it works well. but I do have a 5g phone and looking for an affordable way to get 5g network. This seems to be the only option. Telstra, for example, limits their 5g to $60/mth recharge..

          • +1

@lawyerz: Coles is Optus, and Woolies is Telstra

            • @cycloneaussie: Thanks for clarifying that up. Was on catch connect too, that’s voda if I’m not mistaken

              • @lawyerz: Catch is on Optus as well

                • @Smallman: Not sure why I thought they were on Voda. Thanks for clarifying it up

                  • @lawyerz: thanks. just following up. i joined kogan. ported my old number almost instantly. was great. coverage seems fine. perth city. cheers.

    • +2

Kogan doesn't have VoLTE, 5G and VoWiFi. If you don't use those services or that doesn't bother you, Kogan is fine.

      • hey thanks for the info. my phone does show LTE every now and then but im not sure how much il notice it if its gone. i might give kogan a crack anyway. im in a pretty central location and i dont live in a bunker so i dont think it will affect me much. i hope.

        • You'll still see LTE with Kogan, just can't make voice calls over LTE (4G) - Voice over LTE or VoLTE, meaning you can't use the internet and be on a phone call at the same time.
In saying that, I've used Kogan many times and it doesn't bother me :)

  • Thanks, OP.

I guess Lebara 180d 80G $50 just starter sim pack not the recharge voucher pin?

If anyone can confirm please let me know, thanks.

    • +2

It's a 'starter kit' so new customers.

  • Anyone seen these in the other states?

  • +1

Does it come with unlimited international calls like Boost and Coles mobile?

  • +1

Can you get international roaming on prepaid Vodafone Sim cards?

I was also looking at the same..I think they have addons

    • Yep. they do, it's a bolt-on extra.

    • Best value roaming is with Felix.

    • What if you just want to stay connected to a network while overseas, to receive sms messages (not send)? Does it work on this Vodafone prepaid plan and is receiving sms messages free?

  • Thanks. Does anyone know when do you have to activate it?

  • +1

Anyone know if the data can be allocated per month like Kogan? or is it just 150GB up-front

  • +1

Is it possible to price beat this with Officeworks?

    • Only if you can find it advertised on their website for this price.
I can't see it on their website.

      • Cool thanks

    • Probably not as the Officeworks one is 200Gb offer

  • I spotted these deals in Woolworths Toorak and Prahran stores today also, so I assume it's nationwide (at least Vic wide).
Just not advertised in their catalogue.
    On sale until 5th April.

    • +1

@SimOz007 Just not advertised in their catalogue.

Just looked at latest catalogue for woolies
      22 March 2022
Tis in NSW version page 37

      • Ahhh, good to know, cheers :)

  • Merged from Vodafone $250 Prepaid Plus Starter Pack for $125 (365-Day Expiry with 150GB) @ Woolworths

    150 GB data
    365 day expiry
    Unlimited standard talk & text
    50 standard international texts

    • +1

what's vodafone coverage like these days? or, better yet, what's the go to now that Boost has upped its prices?

Been Boost for a few years and very much out of the loop

      • +3

        Boost on special ✅

      • +1

Vodafone coverage is about to get a whole lot better, they are entering into a network sharing agreement with Telstra so effectively they'll have the same coverage as Telstra wholesale, like belong, Aldi mobile etc. Still not as good as boost, but better.

This won't come into effect for probably at least 6 months though.

        • When?

          • @8200: Don't know… Whenever it gets accc approval and then however long it takes to implement technically I guess.

      • -3

Voda is terrible except for suburbs close to the city. Source: just switched to voda.

        • I had purchased these plans for two of my numbers and after a few weeks have now switched back to Boost. Their coverage tool was showing 5g in my street and 4g inside but I would get 2mbps inside and would struggle to have a good quality call inside. Plus driving around Sydney and live streaming would be a stop and go experience. Luckily they are refunding in full.

        • True that!

    • Any difference between this and post paid?

      • +2

post paid has international roaming at only $5 a day and you can use your call/data allowance as normal during roaming.

        • Not going to be using that for a while. I might jump on prepaid if no difference in service. Cheers

    • This supports esim as well as 5g.
Coverage is pretty good for me in Brisbane.
However I had issues with porting and my number was not usable for almost a week!

      • VoWiFi now works IIRC?

        • +1

          correct. vowifi too.

    • +4

Don't forget to stack with 10% off if you have woolworths insurance/mobile.

      • You sure?
I thought the 10% off excluded tobacco, mobile, … Or was that just recharges?

        • +1

i got 10% off when I bought it in December in store.

          • -1

@starcub: But eGC not allowed to use.

            • +1

@Neoika: Definitely works for SIM Starter Kits, I did this when Vodafone last had this offer a month or so back (doesn't work on recharges, but that's different to this).

              • @SimAus007: I tried to buy Belong SP, eGC not allowed. eGC means eGiftcard, not monthly 10% discount.

                • +1

@Neoika: I just bought 2 Lebara starter kits and got the 10% off using my credit card (I have Woolworths pet insurance)
I wasn't talking about buying a SIM Starter Kit with e gift cards, I was referring to the monthly 10% discount not being available to BUY gift cards or Mobile Recharge Vouchers, but it does work for buying SIM starter kits (certainly works for Vodafone and Lebara as I've done both recently) and nothing says it's not available in the conditions (see below post from manic).
A starter kit is not a mobile recharge.
Not sure why it doesn't work with Belong, sorry (Woolworths!).

          • @starcub:

The following products and services are excluded from the 10% Offer:

            Mobile recharge
            Woolworths Mobile

So Voda SIM is OK .

    • +1

Does anyone know if they have an expiration date?

      • +1

"Voucher must be activated within 6 months of purchase to avoid expiry."

    • My boost plan expires in a month time, thinking buying Coles mobile or this Vodafone plan.
Any suggestions? Which one has better coverage ?

      • +1

Get boost again. They offered me a recharge on the app or site at the old price so check that out first

      • Voda haa volte and vowifi.

Coles doesn't. Coles drops down to 3G to make calls and being with amaysim who also use Optus and also drops down to 3G for calls, it sucks.

I hate to say it, but I would prefer Voda when comparing against Coles.

Plus, you get Optus 3G in regional if Voda doesn't have a tower. You just need to have roaming on.

    • +2

Equates to $10.41 per month. Meanwhile Belong Mobile's cheapest plan is $15 per month 3GB.

Prepare to lose a lot of customers Belong.

      • +1

Belong just axed their $10/1Gb data rollover deal so this deal is perfect timing!

      • +2

Yep I'm about to leave Belong for this on my second SIM!

    • -1

I've been on this sim for over a week now and wifi calling is enabled (had to ask support to activate it on the backend) but for some reason outbound calls fail every time. They've been looking into it for a week now lol

      • Cullcutta?
