A friend recently introduced me to the idea of an external hard-drive and I'm now keen to buy one but I just have no idea where to start. Any help?

There are 2 kinds of external drives.
There are desktop drives which are 3.5 inch desktop drives that sit inside an enclosure. These drives sit on your desk and usually have a AC adapter that needs to be plugged into a wall socket to work.

If your looking for 3,000 gb jb have a WD for $188 at the moment.
Mind you 3,000gb = 3tb is pretty big
