  • Not sure how much longer ill be able to HODL if the rog strix 3070 drops

  • +6

Waiting for them to drop back to around $500

    • Are they likely to get there? Launch MSRP was US$399, with GST and converted to AUD that's just over $600.

      • Remember how much we paid for 2060

Yep the 3060ti is $50-80 more than the other 2 deals. Pccasegear and other retailers would've monitored the other 2 deals, seen how quickly they sold and come out with this deal the following day for $50 more.

It might've been low 700's if not for the 70 or so aholes who cleared out the other 2 deals.

Mate you can't call people aholes just because they are buying at a price they're happy with

      • -1

        Why not?

        • People saw a price they were willing to pay, on a product they wanted. How does that make them an ahole?

          • @TimR31: because gpu prices are dropping as we speak and their behaviour compromises/delays it for everyone else. By lower I mean reasonable prices ie msrp

Not to mention consumers have been price gouged the past 14 months. You'd think they'd hold and inflict some back on the retailers/whoever's been pocketing the margins. Instead they're softening the blow for them.

            • @Jimmy77: Unfortunately it's a lot harder for consumers to act collectively than it is for retailers/distributors/manufacturers.

I'm still holding for better prices (and now probably for Lovelace/RDNA 3, given it's so close) but I don't begrudge any individuals who bought a product at a price they themselves are happy with

  • How far are we from MSRP territory?

    • A user pointed out that msrp in Australia for these cards are "just over $600."

      • +1

Lol that was me after I googled it. But I didn't take into account shipping costs at the moment + general Australia tax which increases the price, then age which decreases the price. I have no idea.

Hardware Unboxed review says the Australian MSRP is $688. I guess a couple of weeks more and we will get there

  • Sure the price is higher the RRP, but you get a lot of bang for your buck compared to the 2080 release price. This craps all over in terms of ray tracing.
If your into 4k gaming this isn't the card for you unless your title supports DLSS. Best if you wait and hope 4000 series can deliver 4k performance.

That being said, I feel this beats out the PS5 by a decent margin. PS5 can't really offer 4k at a decent frame rate and takes a massive hit with Ray Tracing.

  • Apparently some of these Asus have bad coil whine anyone have this problem?
