Deal link is not working, please fix OP : )

  • And no longer looks to be all colours unfortunately, that was quick… I managed to get a black one for the full discounted price (now up to $1523)

I reckon they’re starting to clear their stock for the new green colour release and upcoming iPhone 14 later this year

    • +1

I wonder what iPhone generation will have a complete structural re-design, offering something different to those who like the Flip/fold phones. That I’d love to see from Apple. waits patiently with 11 Pro Max

      • +1

You don't want a flip/fold phone if youre a beach person.

    • +12

Lol, clearing stock in March for a potential September launch, sure.

      • +1

In business terms it would be ideal to start now otherwise it’s gonna be dead stock later

        • +2

so just sit tight and not make any sales for the next 6 months?

          • @nerd1: The iPhone 12 is currently around $900-$996 on both eBay and Amazon

Can wait, or if you want to pull the trigger now, that’s up to you :)

            • @BargainsGrabber: i was replying to your comment for businesses to start clearing stock 6 months before hand. I doubt any successful business will be clearing stock and not make any sales for 6 months. I think they would rather keep making sales until the very last minute.

  • Thanks. Managed to grab a black one.

1.5k for a phone, yeh aight

Don't you recognise a bargain when you see one?

      • keep this in ur mind

yr11 student uses this web too

  • +4

Dang that's a lot to spend on a phone.

    • +1

It is, considering most people keep their phones for 2 years

    • -1

      its not a phone
      its iphone
the more they cost - the better for Apple consumers, they are specific ones

      • +1

        Wat?

  • Just call ow and get it free delivered to your house plus 5% cheaper

    • Office works phone orders closed over weekend.
None of the store near me had stock.
So ended up buying from Amazon. Thanks Op.

      • Phone orders opened now and Amazon still has the blue in stock.

        • I already got the red ones. Thanks

  • Any recommendations for a charger. I recall earlier recommendations for an Anker instead of the apple one?

  • +2

Not want to be that guy. However, I'm interested in why people need 512GB of storage on their phones? What do people store on their phones that takes up so much storage space?

    • +1

I have less than 300GB free on my 1TB iPhone 13 Pro.

      https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/241169/94673/f82a8835-…

      • Oh wow! Please tell me these aren't just memes & you've backed them up to the cloud?

        • Haha, just many years of photos and videos. All are backed up, and this is the first time in many years I’ve had enough space on my device to have a local copy on my phone as well.

Also have a cold backup on a USB HDD.

      • 2TB would be nice for you but it’s only available for iPad Pro, let’s see if the new iPhone 14 will go up to 2TB.

I’ve got a xs max at 512gb with only 299.54gb left.

I’d go for 512gb-1tb depending on the price gap.

    • Most likely due to ProRes 4k video, which is about 7gb for 1 minute of footage. On a 512gb model you could only store about 1 hour of recordings on your phone before your storage is full!

      • You can always free the storage by transferring it off the phone… at USB 2 speed…

  • +1

Price matched with 5% off at OW. Thanks OP.

    • +1

Nice, I would have except nothing around me had stock and you can't order over the phone on Sunday.

  • Not here to create a war. But my god these are expensive for a base model even at 512gb.

Trading in an S8 I dont use as well as the EPP program, I got an S22 Ultra 256gb for $1250, and even that I consider a lot of money

Just not sure how people justify this much for a base model phone

    • +4

Except Apple will provide updates for 5-7 years. $1250 for 256gb is close to $1500 for 512gb. If I recommend someone a phone for long term usage, I do recommend apple. Even if it's the SE. Ofc different phones I guess, better to compare this to iphone pro maybe?

Plus they seem to hold more value so if you upgrade every year or two years for example, you might be losing less money.

      • +1

Samsung offers 5 years of software even on the cheapest S22 which was about ~$800 last week.

So if someone is so tech illiterate enough to be ok with a 5 year old phone, saving $700 is probably a bargain for them.

        • Oh really? I'm out of the loop then. I thought all android phones were 3 years.

        • +3

“5 years of software” doesn’t sound like five new releases of Android though. The wording on Samsung’s release seems carefully worded to avoid that, only referring to “One UI”.

      • +2

I really don't think too many people keep phones for 7 years. Maybe a handful, but not many. They would be pretty shabby by then for a start and you would have had to replace the battery once or twice.

I'd imagine the vast majority would not be longer than 2-3 years, making this update argument kind of redundant for most.

      • +3

Even though Apple provide updates for 5-7 years, most people upgrade by 3, it's rare for me to see a 5-7 year old iphone in the wild that wasn't a mcompany phone

        • Don’t know about that, I still see plenty of people using an 8 plus.

          • @iwik: I still have the 6s plus. Battery life pretty poor - 69%. Time for an upgrade.

      • +4

Very few people hold their phones for that length of time for software updates. While I commend Apple for providing software updates for that long, I worked as a tech advisor for a while for them and I can promise you it causes a lot of pain for older iphone users. "Why is it slower once I upgraded?" "I want to to back to an older ios, my battery is awful now"

As far as re-sell value goes, iPhones do hold their value but also the samsung trade-in deals give that phone value as well.

Also cost of repairs on iPhones is astonishing even generations old. Someone with an iphone 8 had a hairline crack on the screen about 1cm long. Since it hit the edge of the frame Apple refused to fix just the screen and were charging $960. I know because I had to deliver the techs verdict

        • +3

I feel like the slow down issue hasn't been such as issue for quite a few years. I have an iPhone X that feels just as snappy running iOS 15.4 beta.

Phones like the iPhone 6? Sure, they were perhaps updated a bit beyond their ability.

      • +2

Except S22 Ultra is a competitor to iphone 13 pro max, not the base iphone 13 so your price comparison doesn't really work.

Wow, I can't believe a $1.5k phone still comes with a screen that has 60hz refresh rate.

      • What are people's obsession with updates? It's not like phones stop working after updates stop.
Galaxy S8 phone I handed down to my folks still working fine.
Hold more value argument is a load of crap. So what if it does? You pay more to begin with, so they net off mostly. Plus if you are smart you can buy Samsung phones for significantly below RRP.

        • Security mainly and new features that often make phones standout nowadays. For people who hold phones for as long as they can either because it's cheaper or it's environmentally friendly, it is important for some of them.

Yeah that's true, you pay more to begin with. I own a Toyota Aurion I bought for 12k which I could probably sell for 9k and lose 3k. My dad owns a Subaru he bought for 32k which he can sell for maybe 29k. If you have the initial capital and you WANT an iPhone, then you can at least know you won't lose that much money if you decide to sell it compared to RRP Samsung's which then go for $300 cheaper a month after launch.

          • @[Deactivated]: If you want resale value buy property (or shares) not a phone (or car.)

            • @McFly: But everyone kinda needs a phone….no one is buying a phone BECAUSE of the resale value, I'm just saying it's a factor when considering iphones…

    • +3

      iPhone 13 isn’t a “base model phone”.

  • Lucky as your S22 will only be worth that within 3 months.

  • Colours make no sense …. it’s either cherry red or midnight blue.

  • Price of red has gone back up.

wish it was for a iphone 13 max pro .. ><

    So any recommendations for:
    - 20w USB-c Charger
    - Protective case with a decent lip over screen and camera.
    - Tempered Glass Screen Protector

    • +1

      For Tempered Glass Screen Protector:

NuGlass is pretty good (I have used on Iphone7 plus and it does the job). You can get it from Ebay 2 or 3 for $10
