Legion 5i Gen 6 in Stingray colour now at $1,849 which is 40% off original RRP $3,069

  • Decent discount for a decent gaming laptop that can double as an entry level media creation due to the great display.
  • Cheapest so far, probably due to upcoming 12th gen laptops.
  • Did I say a great display! Seriously you will enjoy everything much more on this than most other gaming laptops' display.
  • OzBargainer's favourite line of gaming laptops (got a Legion myself). Not for no particular reason either, this is a well regarded line due to build quality year on year.
  • This is a great all rounder laptop if you are not gonna carry it around too much.
  • A backpack will be required, forget about the fancy man bag. The laptop + brick >3kg. You will need the brick if you leave home battery life is crap.
  • Amazing array of ports, better than many other gaming laptops.
  • A WFH workhorse: awesome keyboard layout with numpad, HDMI 2.1 and DP via TB4 for 2 external displays

Good old question: 11th gen now or wait until 12th gen - $Dollaroos$ vs needs
For gaming, you will be bottlenecked by the 3060 before the i7-11600H. But this has a great display.
For most non-gaming tasks and applications, this CPU is an overkill already. And this has a great display.
For media work, 12th gen will be faster but you will pay more. And you will not likely get a better display than this!
In summary, IMO there is not much value in CPU upgrading in this price range for most people so the laptop represents great value for money.

Nice price. Good post. To manage your expectations, don't forget that laptop GPUs are slower than desktop. I'd also personally prefer to see a 1080p screen at this size.

      Why, isn't a 1440 better anyway.

      • +1

Decreases battery life mainly, as more processing power is needed to push more pixels.

        • +2

Also requires perfect eyesight or otherwise setting scaling which Windows doesn't always handle well.

1080p is my preferred resolution even on a 27". I can see the pixels if I bother to look for them or if I put on my glasses and don't ignore them but for me, having grown up with 360p and 480p it's just fine, especially if I don't have to squint to look at text. I'd rather the higher framerate for gaming too, than detail I can't see without wearing glasses.

@syousef: I think you are in the minority for preferring 1080p on 27inch. 24" I'd agree, but at 27" it's night and day for me. 1440p is a noticeably clearer picture at that size.

            • @Shaunzki: I couldn't tell you what the majority prefer without testing people. All I can tell you is that for me the leap from 720p to 1080p is huge and the move from 1080p to even 4K is not as big.

  • Good one. My laptop died on me yesterday. I still have warranty till June. A Dell g5. I'll have it repaired but this lenovo looks good. Might look this up again at some point.

Gaming laptops are so good esp the screens

  • Worth to add the 3 year basic warranty for $139.00?

Plus $129 back from cashrewards. Should arrive 22/3
