Am I the only one still confused about what this actually is??

    • There might not be any locked trolleys/shopping carts in your area. Where there are, you normally use a $1 or $2 coin to borrow the trolley and it pops back out when you return it. this tool eliminates the need for a coin. As well as its other functions.

They live in Adelaide, you might have to explain what a trolley is 😋

        • +1

Nah we know, they were all stolen

      • +2

        That makes sense.
This, on the other hand, confused me:

😂😂😂 Technically it's a use case… Just imagining the people sitting around trying to figure out more uses… This was the best one they came up with.. Lol

    • It's a tool you poke into a trolley lock to unlock it (like a key).

    • +1

This is for stealing a trolley.

      • +1

Exactly. You should always pay the $2 asking price, then you own the trolley.

    • It is a waste of resource where you could have just made an effort to carry a coin.

      • -4

What? then you have to bring the trolley back to release your coins, this just picks the lock.

I use one too unlock trolleys for random people at Aldi. Mum's are usually very thankful. One offered to buy me a coffee the other week.

        • absolutely agree. great ‘foxy pick up’ tool. lol

        • This could be my second job, lol

        • +8

What? then you have to bring the trolley back to release your coins

Return your damn trolley. The reason for the coin lock is so that people return the trolleys negating the need for employees to collect them, by not returning them you are cluttering up the parking lot and making extra work for the employees of the store.

          Don't be that person.

@singlemalt72: Oh I am that person.
I bring the family, we all get several trolleys then leave them in empty parking spaces, against cars, in the local creek and outside your house.

@M00Cow: hahaha how youre getting downvoted for this joke is beyond me

              • @mavis30551: It's the jealous hubbies of the yummy mummies I help out.

Funny @singlemalt72 obviously hasn't worked collecting trollies. It's actually appreciated by staff, especially in the past two years as it not only got you out of the store in the fresh air, it meant you could remove your mask.

the best one is when morons that don't return their trolley justify it by saying 'they are giving that person a job, if they didnt have to collect trolleys they wouldnt have anything to do'

            • @SBOB: You've obviously not collected trollies in the past 2yrs. The excuse to get outside the store in the fresh air & remove your mask was very much appreciated. It was considered a reward. The smokers particularly liked it.

But keep on getting outraged on behalf of others.

Much easier to use this tool when you have kids and have to take the trolley all the way back into the store.

    • Same!

  • does it work on aldi trolleys which need $1 or $2?

    • Yep.

    • yes. it looks luxurious to use a trolley in Aldi.
this thing just saves my neck too often - when you need a tool to pile open something and all you have is the car key and phone.

The plastic trolley unlock tools are cheaper on eBay

    $3.76 for 4

    • Thanks! Bought!

    • I bought these and they break easily. Get the metal ones instead.

      • +1

I haven't bought these, but the supermarkets uses plastic versions which seem to last (I've got one that's years old).

I need one. They were trying to cheat me recently of my $1 when I tried to return it as I couldn't find a trolley bay with a chain to pop the coin back. 😠

    • Empty trolley bays usually have 3 chains with keys, one for each row.

      • Nope, not at the one I went to. At least not at the few trolley bays I tried to return. I think it was intentional by the center. I had to push the trolley all the way back to the front of the store to return. Later I found they do have the trolley bay with keys but they were all located on a different level of the carpark.

  • Very nice, I never carry coins so this could be useful

  • -1

No thanks. With the split of big trolleys vs little trolleys lately at my local coles, sometimes it is hard to even get the chain of the previous one in there. I'm willing - in extreme cases - to forego a dollar, not my keys.

    • This bad boy comes out after you unlock the trolley. You don't need to return it to get your keys back. Changed my life.

      chefs kiss

  • I got a plastic disc for trolleys from Woolworths for free..!?! Not sure if they still do this, just ask at the service counter. No need for coins or this thing

    • This thing is like a key, you pop in & out & the trolley releases. You keep your key whether you connect the trolley to the trolley conga line or not.

      • Oh ok, thanks. A much better explanation than any of the product descriptions… Which I stopped reading after the first few words.
        Thanks

  • For those inclined to see how the trolley lock works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-4Hl5G2ho4&ab_channel=DrLoc…

  • Just ordered the three pack. Currently using the opening handle of a corned beef can 😁 to unlock trolleys.

  • Or you could use 2 x 10c pieces and a 5c.

Thanks OP. I just ordered 3. The aldi keyring attachment breaks after a year.

I refuse to buy more than one or two items in Aldi because of their stupid trolley system. I've no idea why they still have then when no-one carries coins anymore.

  • what about this, it has different design for Aldi?
