Really struggle with the concept of a $1,200 vacuum cleaner. Really that good?

    • +1

I guess if they could make them this power and capacity, AND work autonomously…..I'd pay $1200 for that :)

    • +2

You can get similar performance for half the price, the market is unfortunately full of Dyson clones that look nice but perform poorly.

This guy does really good reviews

This was ranked third and best value, I have one and its great.

    • I've got one, it's definitely a great vacuum cleaner as it doesn't get constantly clogged by my longhaired cats fur.
It was a gift, if I had to pay for it I would have gone with a Dreame or cheaper Dyson instead.

  • +2

Who will still spend so much on this when lots of Xiaomi ones can do the same job at 1/4 of the price?

    • -1

      TakaHas, fractalsonfire, dealsforlife

    • +1

plenty of people who haven't done much research beyond "just want a Dyson".

    • My mum rates Shark higher than Dyson, and they are significantly cheaper too.

      • ooh I've heard this too, from someone who owns both!

I guess it depends on the specific models they are comparing though.

    • +2

I have the top Xiaomi model and it's cheaper for a reason - leaves half the dog hair on the floor and gets clogged easily. And the motor head has stopped working only 6 months after buying it.

If you keep spending 1/4 the price, 4 times as often, and still end up with an inferior product, it's not actually cheaper.

  • Still not worth it

  • -1

If I stand on the motor-head and press the button can it be used as a scooter?

  • My Dyson V11's trigger doesn't work reliably and 2.5 years of mild use. So much for a 'premium' brand.

    • +2

Mine did the same at 2.5 years.

Took it to their service centre and they fixed it in 5 minutes.

I told them up front I won't pay for a service as a premium product with $1200 RRP should not break down just out of warranty, ACL blah blah… They immediately said that's fine.

    • Having an issue with my V10 Trigger as well, once pressed it does not let go. Have to punch it to make the thing stop.

  • What I hate about the Dysons is that it will only word if you press the 'trigger' if you will. Do they have any automatic ones where they vacuum when you turn it on and don't have to keep pressing them?

    • +2

Invest in some string or velcro…

      • That's a 'bandaid' not a solution.

        • Band-aid could work too. Probably not reusable though…

  • Is this v15 or v11?

    If v15 I’m paying it

    • It’s v11 outsize.

  • -1

If they get more in stock, this would be a better deal for the Dyson V15 for $1,119.20 - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/304027302385?epid=24047124021&ha…
