Requesting any reviews from ozbargainers for these toolkits please. I was eyeing down the 198 pce and waiting for this sale but not a fan of 12 point sockets. About to pull the pin on toolpro X kit. Any suggestions please

Any reviews on the above from our fellow ozbargainers please. Need a socket set and this sale is good timing.

How good are SCA with their lifetime warranty??

    • DIYer here, wish i copped the 198pc set when i started out.

      • What do you mean??

i started buying separate socket sets, tools and other bits and bobs that it is now impractical to buy this kit as i would have a ton of doubles etc - i wish i knew about this kit and the regular $200 sale price.

if you are doing DIY stuff this kit will be all you need for years and years to come. there is no difference in buying 'expensive' socket kits if you are a beginner.

i guess the question is: do you already have any tools that are featured in this kit? if not, this is the best value.

good bits in the 198pc are the impact wheel sockets, hex wrenches and pliers.

I've got some ratchet wrenches, spanner sets, etc. from ToolPRO, and as brownsound mentioned below, they're great for DIY, home mechanics, and perhaps fresh apprentices. You can see and feel the difference in finishing and casting/forging if you look reasonably closely, and when compared to my Sidchrome socket and spanner set, the ToolPRO examples aren't as nice in the hand.

That being said, considering the price difference, and the general quality (from my amateur experience working on lawnmowers, bikes, cars, etc.), I wouldn't hesitate to get the ToolPRO set if I needed something to get the job done. They'll still turn a nut or bolt just a well as any other set.

Haven't had the need to make use of the warranty, but I would assume that if you hold onto the receipt (take a photo and put it on Google Drive), with some manners and a smile, the store people would help you out.

      • Thanks!! It's mostly for DIY and amateur home use. Was thinking of pulling the pin and getting the toolpro X as a long term investment. If toolpro is good as you suggest, the X should sort me out for the long term future. Thanks

i got this kit last time it was offered, and the one annoying thing with it, is the pliers don't stay in the holder when i close it

  • So they're $178.20 and $359.10 with the code?

    that's pretty tempting…
