    • Are you shop at Coles or WoW? Buy gift cards.
Are you having private health insurance? Prepaid for months ahead also save on price raise later.

If you see yourself couldn't reach spending req at near end of 3 months, buy the prepaid Visa card. You'll pay a small fee but at least meet the requirement.

  • Has anyone used this for foreign transactions and compare the amount with Mastercard rate?

    • +1

      Hi,

I have used this card during my trip to Canada. I can say that using the credit card for foreign transactions is a life saver. I have saved a lot of money by not getting charged with international transaction fees.

      • Thanks mate. May be I'll hold on to it for an overseas trip later.

If you add this card to Google Pay and use it by tapping with your phone does it still contribute to the $1500 spend? Cheers.

CBA has extended this offer up to October 31st.
"Enjoy $300 cashback to spend how you want. Apply for a new Low Fee Gold credit card by 31 October 2022 and spend $1,500 on purchases within 90 days of card activation.*"

  • Will be applying for this - already a CBA customer so hopefully that makes it easier.
Does the international travel insurance cover COVID? Can't seem to find any info online

  • Can someone please confirm if the application is approved instantly or will it take a few days ?
and once approved, can it be added to apple pay or need to wait for the physical card to arrive ?

    • +2

As far as i know with over 10yr of getting CC, i have never encountered instant approval from any bank (all big 4 and some others) - even for lowly $500 credit. You can get a "conditional approval" within few minutes (or in some cases, instantly) after applied. Then, depend on the bank, it may take a day or two to hear from them.

You have to wait for the physical card. There is no digital card to add to phone without activate with a physical card first - at least with on Android app. I know they available for Westpac app.

Edit: if you look at previous page for people's experiences with CommBank (mine included) it can be up to 1 week to hear from them, then another week or two to have the card in hand.

  • damn it I was dumb, when I applied for the gold card, I put credit limit at $2000

They gave me the lower tier instead of this card :(

  • I applied on Monday and nothing yet

    • Same, I applied on Monday too and nothing yet

      • Mine took almost a week

  • +1

They extended the offer, I applied again since they had no record of my last application, got approved this time. No idea why they rejected me the first time, happy days :)

  • What the hell! I applied for this "CommBank Low Fee Gold Credit Card", but they approved and sent me the card for "CommBank Low Fee Credit Card"!!
    Why not Gold one?!!

    • You maybe when choosing the credit limit, decreased the limit and then it chose the low fee card?

People in this thread have mentioned doing this by accident

    • +1

Minimum for low fee gold is $4000. It'll automatically revert to a low fee as minimum is $500

      • Thanks
        I wish I knew this before :D

    • +1

      happened to me too!

chose $2000 limit not $4000 minimum i thought it didn't matter.

      lesson for next time!

  • When applying for a credit card, do I have to disclose all of my financial situation? I.e. current mortgage, afterpay etc? Is it ok to 'forget' to disclose them?

    • They can easily check your mortgage situation etc.

      Best not to lie…

  • well, that sux, I've been chasing up commbank to get my $300 as it's waaay past due, and apparently if you hold an existing low-fee credit card in the last 12 months that makes you ineligible for the cash back.

Looking at the current T&Cs (the Offer has been extended)…

    • This offer has been extended. Offer available on new Low Fee Gold credit cards applied for between 01/03/2022 and 31/10/2022 (previous end date 30/06/2022). Offer not available on all other card types (including Low Fee), existing cards, switches from other card types, and new Low Fee credit cards if you currently hold, or have held, any Low Fee card type in the 12 months prior.

But I'm not sure if that shown in bold was part of the original Offer posted by the OP.

    • Thanks for pointing this out mate and I've tried to now add it to the post for any future new applicants but it says that editing on this post has been locked.
That condition wasn't there when I posted this because I had a low fee credit card which I cancelled on the same day that I applied for this and still got the cashback.

    • Thank you. Got the low fee one, was planning to get this later, but wont now :)

    • Sorry if this is a dumb question. Does that mean ANY low fee card, from other institutions as well?
Usually it's just within the same company?

      • Just CBA cards

  • I cant even get through to processing my application, just get stuck on

"If you're a CommBank customer log on to NetBank to complete your application.
Or visit your nearest Commonwealth Bank branch."

tried different emails and everything. havent been a customer since 2017 so annoying

    • You should still have a commbank client ID if you used to bank woth them

      • Pretty sure I closed the accounts. But I did still remember my old number, put that in and didn't work. Forgot password makes me put in my non existent card number

  • I just got auto-denied for this card after entering my details in… Never had a card declined in all my time churning CC's. Considering this is the easiest/lowest amount rewards/limit card I've applied for.

    Anyone else had this?

    • Did you make a mistake with the income ? (Like a typo or weekly/fortnightly/monthly etc) You could call up and check

      • Not at all, income was what it is. Only thing is it had a note to say my expenses are lower than they thought but I WFH full time and don't pay rent so I have minimal monthly expenses. I feel like it auto-declined as it thought I was lying or something about my expenses…

  • Anyone not get their cashback? I easily made the spend, and paid the full balance over a week ago and nothing.

    • +2

Thought it may be useful for others who had this question.

It took just under 2 weeks for my $300 cashback to appear after I reached the required spend.

      • Yeah I got mine now too. About 2 weeks later as well.
        Cheers

      • +1

Similar story here. about 2 weeks. My overall timings below in calendar days.

        Day 0 Applied online
Day 2 Approved and notification sent of card
        Day 7 Card received
        Day 11 First statement posted
        Day 17 Minimum spend met
Day 28 Cashback appeared (before second statement posts in a few weeks)

  • Is it normal to only have 3 weeks to pay off the card?

Received my statement today and says I need to pay it off by the 8th Aug.

This is my first statement so not sure if it is prorated? I've spend approx $2k and have received my $300.

    • It may be, I received my first commbank statement (for another commbank card) only after a week of having the card and had a shorter time to pay off the statement.

  • Signed up for the credit card and cannot log in to netbank, I believe I have to do an ID check. Does this have to be done in branch?

    • No, I did everything online. That same sign up page should also have a link to perform ID check. Otherwise, you should have received an email with instructions too.

      • Unfortunately I have to go in branch to verify my ID. I'm unable to for another 3-4 weeks. Does the 90 days start from application date or approval date

        • Enjoy $300 cashback to spend how you want. Apply for a new Low Fee Gold credit card by 31 October 2022 and spend $1,500 on purchases within 90 days of card activation

          • @CodeXD: Yes that's what I thought, the call centre operator said from application, sounds like she doesn't know whats shes talking about…

            • @whey4000: Why am I not able to signup for this credit card? Every time it's sending me to the Review page. Are there any workarounds

  • Has anyone tried to signed up recently? Keep getting an error 'due to a technical problem' after clicking the apply online button. Tried several different browsers all same result.

    • Try it in incognito/private browser.

      • Strangely enough just tried it again through chrome incognito and it finally went through this time, thanks.

      • Hi CodeXD. I tried using incognito mode as well. No luck :(

        • Did you manage to get it working?

          • @madfree: No. I have withdrawn the application. Waste of time.

    • +1

Yep something is definitely (profanity) with their site. Used the Chrome incognito work around and entered in all my details, got to the page after entering in all my details and creating a password and then got:

      Something's gone wrong.
Try again later or drop in to your nearest CommBank branch and complete your application there instead.

Seriously Commonwealth, how useless can you be for this issue to still be there a month and a half later?

EDIT: Finally got past that screen, now the limited selection of 'what is your job' question is ridiculous. Plus I salary sacrifice the rent I pay, yet it won't accept it being '$0' as I pay it pre tax. Honestly Commbank, you're (profanity) 😂😂

EDIT 2: And now been knocked back for it I'm assuming cause I had to put $1 as my rental amount. Ah well, screw you Commbank 👍

      • +1

the limited selection of 'what is your job' question is ridiculous

Haha I'm having a flashback to that inane selection.

And now been knocked back for it I'm assuming cause I had to put $1 as my rental amount.

It's probably wiser to play the game with questions like that, as well as mortgage repayments where the remaining principal is low and the monthly repayments are small. A very low figure might look suspicious even if there is a reason for it.

I love the ones that decide your living expenses are too low and force you to raise them. The bank falsifies your application!

        • +1

Haha yeah I probably should have put in the actual amount but putting in what it actually is (not including the salary sacrifice amount) wouldn’t line up with my actual payslips at all, so basically damned if I do, damned if I don’t type of situation.

Ah well, just reminds me why I’m not with Commbank to begin with I guess!

  • Is this offer still available

      • This offer has been extended. Offer available on new Low Fee Gold credit cards applied for between 01/03/2022 and 31/10/2022 (previous end date 30/06/2022).
