          lmao

    • …and their competitor, wash dot com.

  • +4

damn why everything have to have bright leds on it

    • +10

      Blutak solves it all.

    • Stick some sticker over the leds, or blutak. Not ideal, but it works and can look neat if you do it right.

    • +1

The led is not good for the bedroom

      • +3

don't see the problem, adds some free mood lighting

      • depends on the colour.

    • +3

      https://lightdims.com/index.php for the win!

I bought a pack of these years ago, and they have served me very well indeed!

  • +5

Lol surely this has to be considered a deceptive practice?

  • +4

    Thanks, got one this time.

Brand listed as GoogBoo on Amazon description, but photo clearly shows Jinvoo stamped on the board.

Hopefully, firmware version on this one is still flashable to Tasmota with Tuya-convert.

Looks like the model no. for this generic powerboard with various brands stamped onto it is SM-SO301.

There are a few Tasmota templates on <templates.blakadder.com> under this model no.

Anyone that's flashed one of these to Tasmota know which template applies to this Jinvoo powerboard?

    • +1

Last time my OTA wasn’t a success… not sure if they work anymore for this

    • Why flash it?

      • +6

To use without needing Internet access or the app. One can use HomeAssistant or the likes to control locally. If it was flashable, I'd buy one but doesn't sound like it based on above comments.

        • +1

          Ahhhh

          Thanks for the explanation

    • +1

I just got the zigbee version. Don't have to flash then.

      • Thanks.

I've already ordered this one & currently is slightly cheaper than the version you linked. I would also need to tweak my home automation system a little to incorporate a Zigbee device.

If I can't flash this one with Tuya- convert though, will just send back, then think about whether I try the Zigbee version.

      • Unfortunately both black and white Zigbee versions from that deal are out of stock. Are you running them with SmartThings?

      • I just got the zigbee version. Don't have to flash then.

It says "Radio Protocol: WiFi/ZigBee" in the product description?

    • None of them. I bought half a dozen of these from Amazon under different names and slight differences in design (eg black vs white) and they were all using non-ESP chips that couldn't be flashed. Only successful one I've found so far is the same model/design from BrilliantSmart.

      • +1

Got mine yesterday, attempted to OTA flash with Tuya-convert using method have had success with older models of Arlec (from Bunnings) and Bauhn (from Aldi) devices, but no luck with this one labelled Jinvoo SM-SO301.

Either newer non-flashable firmware like many devices manufactured after mid-2020 (e.g. Arlec) or like you say, non-ESP chip.

Unfortunately, this one's going back :-).

Any company that resorts to trying to fool customers into buying their product gets no money from me.

  • +4

I bought it from last deal.
Works great, only bad things are :
    - led lights up like a rescue search light
    - usb's are controlled in one group, not individually

    • Any idea what the USB power output is like? The specs say "Rated power: 2000W/ USB Total Power: 12W/5V 2.1A" which if true is actually pretty poor across 4 USB ports. Most devices these days support or demand more than the original 5w per USB A port.

  • +9

Is this is genuine Amaozon ?

    • +7

      It surely is genuoine Amaozon.

      • sum ting wong here

  • +1

    such a creative name!

  • +2

Any recommendations for power boards that have a switch on/off for each socket? And a USB A or C built in also?

  • AmaOzon…

  • Noob question sorry - remote control to turn on and off works on any device connected to this power board right, even like my toaster or kettle? Don’t need a smart device right?

    • +3

      hey you power board

      toast my kettle please

    • If only running one at a time you should be fine. Remeber, It only has rated power of 2000W so no chance of heating the kettle while toast is cooking.

  • +3

This doesn't look like uncertified electrical junk at all..

  • Someone stole the baby and replaced it with a child.

    • Why? My understanding is that this is Smartlife (Tuya) app controlled after-which one then links to Google Home or Alexa for voice control. Are you saying otherwise? I don't own one so can't confirm.

      • +1

Nah, he is just pointing out that you need a free 3rd party integration service to use voice control and that it locally doesn’t support voice control.

Out of the box can’t control it using your voice as it doesn’t have a linguistic processor. That said neither does nearly anything that is sold with voice control - from Alexa’s to Google Home devices.

Nitpicking to some, enough to justify and invasion of a sovereign country to others.

        • Ah ha I didn't spot that meaning. I suppose it is true and akin to it also being a lie for it being a powerboard i.e. it doesn't have power as that comes from the energy provider :-)

    • +1

That's via Google Home or Alexa. I'm using this product and it works perfectly with voice control via Google Home.

  • Alex electrocute me; "You not worth the energy"

Grid Connect seems solid to me, never had any dropouts from any of their products (lights and switches) over the past couple years.

    This power-board is around 10 duckets more expensive but for something you can pick up at your local Bunnings and know will work;
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/arlec-grid-connect-smart-4-outle…

    There is also a single switch four outlet version for half the price which is another handy option;
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/arlec-grid-connect-smart-4-outle…

    • After reading the reviews on the Bunnings website - I'd rather this one. The one from Bunnings seems to fail consistently according to reviews.

      • +1

I have 12 of them and haven't had a problem since I got them over the last years. I don't know how many they sell to work out what portion of people complain about them
At least you know you have good warranty/support through Bunnings

  • Thanks OP. I have bought individual smart plugs before, this saves me money.

Just want to confirm, the 4 AC outlet can be voice controlled individually?

    • +2

Yes and basing this on one review on Amazon which notes…."One can control each plug separately by voice command. 4 USBs can be controlled together not separately".

      • Yeah I saw that too, hopefully he is telling the truth

    • Yes I have been using the same board for years now. Am very happy with it.

Each outlet is individually controlled, however the USB is not, it's either all on or all off, which isn't really a problem for me since I rarely use it.

The app has basic home automation capabilities too. I have it set to automatically turn on and off my laptop charger at the start/end of the day, as well as the outlet connected to my vornado to automatically turn on and off based on the temperature.

  • +1

Is there a coupon that can be applied instead?
I can't see the 12% additional anywhere to apply it, says it'll apply on checkout but no where to do it from on checkout. Or maybe it's ended

    • +1

Only have a 5% off coupon ($1.70) now, not sure why.

  • I would hazard a guess that like all things Wi-Fi or smart there is an element of bad Wi-Fi reception or incompatible set up as well as in the device is fine but out of range when behind a cabinet full of interference or it doesn't match existing gear in the same app.

  • The rate of the seller is so low

  • +1

The 12% has dropped to 5%.. its still an alright deal.. just not as good!
