      • Does this event upset you /make you feel uncomfortable?

        • +1

On one hand the idea of sex discrimination does bother me. On the other I think that never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake is not a bad axiom either. One look at this thread is all that is required to see that this was not the slam dunk they thought it would be.

    • On a brighter note, this is a great chance to 'shout' a special woman in your life!

If she finds out you just took advantage of a freebie she might not be happy with it.

Also Rashays isn’t very good from what I’ve heard.

      BreakTheBias

  • Hollywood movies say let the women and children go first and then you'll get a 🚁.

  • +7

It’s sad how predictable this site is nowadays. Don’t you have some PS5’s to post for RRP? I don’t even mind the complaints but at least be wittier about it rather than so whingy.

    • Leave the whinging to the feminists?

Personally think our race is pathetic that we have such inequalities in the first place for both men and women and then we have to debate on the subject instead of fixing it quickly and focusing on more pressing issues

Either way not bothered if women are offered a free coffee on women's day

  • +1

Thank you OP. Good for afternoon tea (if you have Rashays nearby).

  • I'm a penis owner, identifies as a male and have no problems with this offer as long as the coffees are good.

Cos nothing worse than cranky bitches running around complaining about crap coffee!

    Boom tish!

    • +2

      I'm a penis owner

You need to clarify the number of years you've been a penis owner these days, don't want any confusion.

      • +1

Are you the first owner of this penis or did you acquire it second hand?
        Whats the mileage like?

        • +1

          Second hand? Now that’s impressive

  • A man is not a woman.

    But, the comments are brilliant.

  • +16

Let's celebrate women and their quest for equality by treating them differently to men and giving them something special.

  • -1

So the negative downvote is gone. That's concerning. (it's back now, I guess OzBargain was glitching cough cough)

    • +1

My dpwnvote was removed because my comment was down voted so much

    • That's a great conspiracy theory. Not

      • Wasn't a conspiracy, just explain to him why it disappeared

        • +1

Sorry wasn't replying to you. I was actually highlighting your point.

  • +1

    Define woman

    • Yes, without using the word woman. And not saying it's subjective

  • +13

    Christ.
Is this ozbargain or 4chan? So many whiny incels.

    • +1

Pretty sure most married men are incels so the term doesn’t mean anything

      • +7

Doesn’t really sound like a successful marriage. Maybe those men need to consider aspects of their relationship.

        • +2

If only one person in a partnership is responsible for fixing all the problems, even those that they didn't make, then it isn't a partnership.

  • +8

The level of outrage over a female targeted deal sure is interesting.

    • +5

You can’t call it equality if you also have privileges. I think the negative response from some is calling out this hypocrisy.

I think the real question is if they will do a similar promotion on International Men’s Day. Time will tell.

      • +4

I understand you're only summarising the sentiment, but can't really call a coffee & cake a "privilege".
Mostly some people taking the piss and feminists taking the bait. No one really care to miss out on a coffee & cake.

        • +2

Exactly, the level of outrage is disproportionate to the deal on offer.

        • Well free coffee and cake is certainly not a right. 😂

    • The pendulum always swings back.

  • +8

Didn't think so many people would be so triggered and upset over free coffee and cake to recognise a crucial advancement and change in society. Sit the f down.

    • +2

People on here whinge all the time. If there's a deal offered in one particular state (usually because that store only operates in that state), someone in another state complains that they're not getting it. If there's a deal in the cities, people in regional Australia complain that they aren't getting it. If there's free delivery in the capital cities, people in Geelong and Woolongong complain about it. This is more over the top but it's nonstop tbh. It's ALMOST enough to make a brother almost consider paying RRP and abandoning bargains.

  • +5

Gents let’s not get worked up over free coffee and cake being given to women. I’m sure we all know how to get a lot of free sh:t like coffee etc.

    Calm the farm down. Please

  • Op my bday is also on 8th anything for me at rashays

    • +1

You don't have google where you live?

    • +3

      google is your friend.

      • +3

Apparently, they didn’t like that even though I posted a link to a birthday deal as well… I just thought they were being lazy and entitled asking OP as though he owns Rashays.

  • +4

    Talk about gender equality.

    • +4

sure let's talk. given the choice to be reborn, theres no way id choose to be born with a vagina. mainly for the inconvenience of the menstrual cycle

      • +5

But you'd miss out on free coffee and cake on IWD

  • +3

transgender can be count as woman for this deal?

  • +1

Dam these genitals. If only I had a choose when I was born…

  • That's SEXIST!!!!!!!!!!!!

never mind, it's women's day, happy women's day to all the ladies. xoxo

  • +8

From Women Only Gym, Women Only Baths, Women Only Dining/Offers, Women only Fitness Sessions, Women only Spas, Women only Salons…and list goes on.

Still, you're subjected to miserable and cranky feminists in your daily life harping on about not enough for Women's Rights, (facepalm).

Let's get the equality train going, fully supported.
    We need more women in:

    Mining
    Trucking
    Logistics
    Labor Hire
    Wood chopping
    Mechanical work
    Plumbing
    Painting
    Panel beating
    Metal sheet and aluminium
    Gyprock and construction

Let's go folks…I'm all in for equality

    • -6

Why are you so passionate about making people's live shitty?

    • +2

Totally agreed with frostman. Have you heard about men fighting for not enough representation in nursing industry for example?

      • Men could dominate the nursing industry if they wanted to, they don't because their toxic mates would have a giggle and poke fun at them. So they stick to "tough bloke" industry because there's a lot of male steered shit thrown the way at other men too.

In short, men = the problem for both women and men

        • +5

Strong men do all the tough, dirty jobs that others can't or don't want to. You say toxic but testosterone and tough blokes built this country and keep it running. If anyone is toxic it is people like you suggesting that strong men are not important because they are and quite unappreciated.

          • @benny082: Never said strong men are unimportant, said that men forcing counterproductive values on other men were a problem.

Chill out and go back to whatever it is you do, if you do anything

            • +1

@buckster: If a man chooses to be a nurse and cannot stand up to others "forcing" him not to be. I think he needs to grow a spine.

        • +1

There are plenty of male nurses, they just don't tend to work where you can see them.

I'd say maybe a third (at peak) of our nurses were male. We did remote assistance and medical evacuations. One of those I worked with went on to be a professor of nursing.

It's not about 'toxic males' preventing males in nursing, it's the fact that female dominated professions always pay less. That being said, like any female dominated profession there are plenty of places women refuse to work, and those are the areas where men will get paid very well for doing effectively the same role.

          • +1

@cfuse: The pay is an issue true, many factors are usually present when there's a big gender disparity.

You obviously have a pretty sound head and similar to those around you which is awesome.

There's a fair sized group though who would laugh at their mate/son for wanting to do a "girls job". Truthfully that group is getting smaller each year but much like how there are people who tell girls what they can't do, there's a still present even if dwindled group that tell the blokes what they can't do.

    • Good luck getting any female volunteers for the glass coffin.

    • +1

While I don’t think you are being genuine, probably the question to ask, is what are those industries doing to improve equality (and the same goes for female dominated industries).
A range of people working together almost always produces better results, is more adaptable, better at solving problems, etc. than a group all cut from the same cloth.
It is in most industry’s interests to have a diverse workforce.

      • +1

Mskeggs, please don't start with an illogical and rather brainless rebuttal on this, you won't hold a candle.

what are those industries doing to improve equality

Really? How about a red carpet charade, and some entry-drinks? Perhaps 2 free tickets to Bali for Women that sign up at the Bass Strait Oil Rig?

Reality is, this Women's job equality is nothing but smoke and mirrors. Women only want the high paying corporate industries whilst leaving the hard yakka (male dominant industries) for the men.

        Shame

        • Sounds like you’ve not had much experience of the “hard yakka” of a lot of female dominated jobs, in health care, aged care, child care etc.
Driving a forklift or a mining drill can be hard and unpleasant too, but is typically much better paid.
It’s going to be very hard for you to understand the broader labour market if you only know a bit about a few jobs.

But even in the work places you might have a memory of in the olden days, you might be surprised to find a lot of the “sheilas” are getting a run these days.
I don’t know what a red carpet charade is, or entry-drinks, but a lot of industries seeking good workers are trying to broaden their worker base to include people other than their traditional workforce.
This includes encouraging men into nursing as much as it does women onto oil rigs.
You might be surprised that even the men working in jobs like remote mining and oil rigs get sign on incentives.

          • +1

            @mskeggs:

Sounds like you’ve not had much experience of the “hard yakka” of a lot of female dominated jobs, in health care, aged care, child care etc.

Yes Women have some very stressful jobs, I dare say some of the stuff they put up with, some men dont have what it takes.
But this argument isnt about downgrading the ability of the other sex, its raising awareness that this over exertion of "Women's Day" and the forcing of Women into some workplaces to get their numbers is nothing but a farce.

            Equality is all-encompassing.

If the feminists want to drive workplace equality, then the above sectors and jobs must be filled.
It cannot be such that we just need more Women CEO's and stop there.

This includes encouraging men into nursing as much as it does women onto oil rigs.
No need, men arn't harping on about equality, if they wish to pursue this field, then so be it.
There are plenty of male nurses, albeit nowhere near as much as female.

They need one for everyday to 'support vaccinations'..
And if they improve their food then they might, just might have me as a customer

  • They'd be supporting Nazis if that's what made money.

  • +1

In USSR we had both, women's and men's days :(.

    • But what about a day for the Bears? :(

  • haha its a funny post, western women are whinging their oppressed.
Tell that to Ukrainian fathers living through hell right now trying to protect their families and homes.

    • +1

      *they're
Cough cough fleeing mothers with babies?

    • +2

Yeah, because there's no Ukranian mother's trying to protect their families and homes right??

      • Ukranian mothers have already flee the country and men are forced to stay behind to fight till dead.

        • -3

          Wrong

          • @buckster: Hmm. Tough call. Run away with a baby. Stay back throwing home made bombs at tanks.
Funny thing is you raise a good point. Ukrainian women are tough. "Cough cough"

  • +1

Rashays, I'd never heard of them until now.
I just had a look and only 1 store in my state, are they good?

    • +1

From what I’ve heard from multiple people who live in NSW, no.

You could possibly rate them on the same level as Hog’s Breath. Pretty average.

      • Okay, I'll pass.. Thanks :)

  • +1

    As per https://humanrights.gov.au/our-work/employers/sex-discrimina…

"This means that it is against the law for a business to discriminate against a person by:

refusing to provide a person with goods, services and facilities
providing them with goods, services and facilities on less favourable terms and conditions, or
providing goods, services and facilities in an unfair manner"

Specifically the line "providing them with goods, services and facilities on less favourable terms"

    This is flat out illegal.

    • If a law is not policed then it doesn't matter that it is illegal.

    • Then how are women only gyms allowed to be open, or free entry for women?

    • You're not being denied service. There are special exemptions in the equal opportunity act.

  • +4

    Awww the double standards…

  • +5

For people who want to throw stats around.

Men make up more than 90% of workplace deaths.
Men are far more likely to go to prison than women.
For the same crime, women get lower sentences and punishments than men.
Men make up the majority of homelessness.
Men commit suicide more than women.
Men work more hours than women.
Men die more from violence than women.

And plenty more if you look around.

At the end of the day there are pros and cons for both genders, but lets not pretend its so one sided. We are not equal in the biological sense and never will be. We are both quite different in a lot of ways and similar in a lot of other ways. Its the difference that benefits human society and also why we are attracted to one another and can help each other. I am all for equal opportunity but not to enforce 50% in everything. It should be about opportunity and the best person gets the job.

    • +2

Equality as long as it means salary.

"you're equal now. Now you have to work in a mine for that 6-figure salary"

      "wait, not like that"

      • +1

Exactly, thats the issue i have. It shouldnt be cherry picking just the things you want that comes with equality but not the things that you dont want…

    • +3

      Shhh, they dont like facts…

    • True for some, especially back in the day when women was expected to stay home all day, so it would be higher than 90% for workplace deaths for men.

      https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9675500/
      https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20190313-why-more-men-kil…

If something like this is making you uncomfortable, perhaps talk to someone about it and have those feelings dealt with?

    • I agree with your facts, but I’m surprised the conclusion you draw isn’t that society needs to work to improve those elements for men, but that because of those problems society shouldn’t bother improving things for women.

      • Just agree that you're some cranky old feminist trying to legitimise this farce.

I'll end with this… at every war, even in Ukraine now, the Women & Children were given priority at the Russian Corridor Exits to leave the city…your ASS would be the first one there if a war is to break out here, you'd want to claim your 'im a woman get me outta here".

Show me stats of women that dared refuse the exist doors and asked to fight alongside men for Equality, lol

        • +1

I guess can agree I’m a cranky old feminist if it makes you feel better, but I don’t think I’m at all a particularly strident supporter of feminism.
I don’t think saying it is ok to be sexist most of the time, because if there is ever a life and death situation we can be assured you will pay it back by going down with the ship. That really sounds like nonsense.

But regardless, the comment you were replying to says the idea that men have plenty of problems where their gender experiences negatives - lifespan, suicide rates, healthcare outcomes, injury and plenty more.
I don’t think equality means pressuring women to commit suicide at a rate as high as men, and I would certainly support measures to improve the outcomes for men to allow them to be as good as we see for women in the areas they are behind.

I think it is absurd to say because men have it bad in some way, women should also put up with having things bad. Surely it isn’t controversial to say both men and women should aim for the improvement?

          • +1

@mskeggs: No, I won't feel better in you labelling yourself something you're not - men aren't out there to "get" females & subjugate them to false labels.
In the world of biology and for the most part - flora and fauna - there are 2 sexes performing (somewhat) different tasks to make things work.
Besides the odd hermaphrodite, this is what keeps things moving and balanced.

The female lioness with new-born cubs isnt going to think:
"F$ck this, why do I need the alpha lion to protect my cubs from other lions, i may aswell do the job, let that hobo male babysit and take this shitty job going forward"

What's happening in the homo sapien side of things is women want to be over-represented in almost everyway,
If you say your entire engineering team is 15 females and 1 male - it would be a recognition and something to be proud of.
But say you have a team of 2 females and 15 males and you get a HR warning.
Again, i'll take the lenient side of things and say I am happy for the above to happen, with the condition that females also make up 50% or more not just in their favourable sectors of IT and Politics, but also in mining, excavation, military, and so on.

Both genders are needed 100% equally to run this planet, no gender should be over-represented.

  • +3

    Sorry,for gender equality

  • Comeon, y'all are ridiculous. Will you also complain about happy mother's day that it doesn't include non binary and father's?

    Get over yourselves

    • I guess it’s a lot easier to get over yourself if you have a free cake and coffee to wash it down… free cake and coffee… yum!

  • Happy to see celebrations of womanhood - but not for achievements - that suggests they're 2nd rate and not expected to achieve. Celebrate them for who they are regardless of achievements.

    • I know it’s a low bar… but I’ll take the free cake and coffee anyway

  • Went to the North Rocks location apparently management interpreted the promotion is for Rashays Members only

Indian couple paying the bill in front of us complained so management contacted their management and gave the ok.. wow…..

Food was still nice though !
