Good price, bought my one at release day.

    • $$$?

      • +3

release day should be $589+delivery I got one :)

        • Me too. Card died after 3 days light use. Returned it, refund. And end up with Asrock 6900xt…$1899+delivery. An arm and a leg :(

        • Cant remember exactly amount
Its 600ish plus delivery with 100off from Kogan.

  • MAN I’m undecided for this or a 3060

Simplest answer is do you need dlss? (play games that support it, at 1440+ res).

If you only play at FHD, this'll likely be your card.

      • what if i want to play at 1440?

        • At 1440, the 6600XT will struggle to hit 60fps, especially on new games, and you may be better off using DLSS on a 3060.

          • @incipient: So if FPS is always my #1 priority, and I don't care about 1440p or even 4k (as only got a very normal monitor) should just stick with nVidia?

            • @kaikor: If the games you want to play support dlss, then yes.

DLSS renders the game at a lower resolution, and uses magic to upscale, to look mostly good enough. Eg if your monitor is 1440p, dlss will render at FHD - so you get good fps - and then upscale.

      This!

Had a 3060 before I got the rx 6600 xt and I seem to be getting more fps (I got the MSI Gaming X card)

    • This is between the 3060 and the 3060ti, it's better in terms of raw rastarisation performance, Nvidia cards have dlss and RT if you need those and are more expensive.

It came back full circle! I paid $650 6 months ago

      • Cmon he's an ozbargainer
…. we don't have more than one girlfriend, too pricey !
Also consider that his singular girlfriend may be inflatable :)

This is a good 1440p card for the price…marketed as 1080p but its had no issues at 3440x1440 on my rig

    • QHD result is acceptable. happy to run this on my native qhd screen.

We're already 75% of the way to Lovelace/RDNA3, buying a current gen graphics card at above MSRP just isn't worth it imo

Remember, this was 589 at launch.

For a manufacturer based promo only though for about a day

    HODL.
Remember this is just one card, the other brands are still $700-$850.
We need all of them to be down to around $650 first.

  • get a 3080 refurb laptop for $2200

    game till you drop

by that time there will be 4080 and 4090 and build a system then. sell for $2000

    • Well, by that time of 4000 series card, your laptop may also possibly drop in value to just $1000.

      • a 3080 laptop? unlikely

        • Just rumour that GPU prices might drop significantly in the next few months, with that even a 3080 laptop price will follow too.

          • @edfoo: high performance laptops don't really fall in price that quick

2080 units still hold just below $2000

            • +1

@shabaka: That's because the price of 2080 still high.

              • @edfoo: Your comment makes no sense, if 2080 laptop prices are still holding high after 3 years, why would 3080 laptop prices drop by 50% in a few months?

                • @dogsryummy: Probably exaggerated and not as much as 50%.
Just rumour (like I have said earlier) because of possibly significant GPU price drop in the coming weeks and months, so if a 3080 gonna drops in price big time, imagine what can happen to an old second-hand 2080? That will drag down the price of the whole laptop as well.

                  • @edfoo: it's not about the generation of the card, it's abou how much 3D computing power it can deliver.

2080 is roughly 3070 roughly 4060, so I don't see them dropping quick.

                    keep dreaming :)

grab a 3080 and see for yourself

                    • @shabaka: Let's wait till the end of the year when 4000 series cards are released, and see what are the prices of 2080-based laptops worth.

                      • @edfoo: I don't care about 2080. I am suggesting getting 3080

I sold my 2080 as soon as 30x0 ti mobile got released

  • This thing was $579 at launch for a bit (around msrp). Pretty sure that in a months time it'll be even cheaper.
