Excellent price on this budget Android tablet that currently sells for around $250 US inc GST from AliExpress. This tablet is currently one of the best you can buy out the affordable tablet range and beats the previously popular Alldocube iPlay 40 in features and build quality.

Featuring Android 11 with Google Play, 10.4" 2000x1200 IPS display with 540nits peak brightness, 8GB RAM, 128GB Storage (MicroSD support), 7000mAh battery offering up to 11 hours, 18W USB Power Delivery charging, 4G Dual SIM, Sony 13MP Rear Camera, 8MP Front Camera, Quad Speakers, GPS/WiFi/Bluetooth 5.0, FM Radio and packs the UNISOC Tiger T618 Octa-core CPU.

For reviews as usual it's best to checkout Techtablets's indepth review. The only real big downside in my opinion for most people is the lack of Widevine L1 DRM certification for Netflix HD, as currently no UNISOC SoCs have been whitelisted by Netflix. If you're looking for something better I recommend the Xiaomi Pad 5.

I'd go for this instead slightly better and same price BMAX MaxPad I11 UNISOC T618 Octa Core 8GB RAM 128GB ROM 4G LTE 10.4 Inch 2K Screen Android 11 Tablet

      What is better about it?

      • Maybe it's not they look very much the same. I was looking at Teclast Plus v BMAX I11 not Teclast Pro v BMAX I11. Oops!

        • +7

There's nothing better about it. I listed the Techtablets review since it's mentions how it's better than the Alldocube iPlay 40 and BMAX is less quality than Alldocube.

A quick comparison is that the BMAX has a plastic shell (instead of metal), a less bright display, slower RAM, slower storage, smaller battery and no 18W quick charge.

Waited 2months for M40 deal back in Jan and when I asked where it was last week they said 1-2 weeks. Then cancelled it 3 days later, so definitely been banged good.
Now to check this against that spec to see how they compare.

    • Same with a P20 in September.Then price jacked.
      An M30 purchased July 2020 is a good unit.Steal @ $200.35.

    Op, Peak Brightness is 350nits.

    https://www.teclast.com/en/zt/T40Pro/

Where did you get 540nits from?

    • -2

From the real life review in the post. Feel free to watch the section where the brightness goes max and tell me that looks like 350nits.

      • +1

I'm not having a go at you, just not sure why the manufacturer would list their own product having a 350nits display if the display has a much higher brightness. I find it very strange to be honest.

Marketing probably recycling specs without realising.

  • Does the Widevine certification only affect Netflix or is it all streaming apps?

Beware, as others have reported previously, Bangood have a poor reputation for customer support and honoring warranties.
I bought a basic Teclast tablet from them last year. It failed within the 12 month warranty period so I raised a support request to get it replaced or repaired.
They refused to repair it and offered my $10 as a 'solution'. When I pointed out that they offer a 12 month warranty on tablets, their response was 'The maintenance time of the mobile tablet is 12 months, which means that within a year, any quality problems with the tablet can be complained to us. But you can only get full refund or exchange item within one month'.
As they are outside of the ACCC jurisdiction, I couldn't do anything about it. I eventually negotiated a $40 compensation which still seemed grossly unfair.
If you buy anything from Bangood, you are basically gambling on the product not having any issues.

  • Is it a good deal?

    Lenovo P11 6GB/128GB

Considering the brand, the screen size and also support of pen and folio keyboard.

    • If you click the link in the first line of this deal you can get it for US$169.99.

      • That's the 4GB/64GB version. This one is 6GB/128GB

  • Hi OP, what is your thought on battery? Comments on previous Teclast T40 Plus mentioned battery died after about 1.5 yr?

    • +1

They mentioned much much older Teclast tablets from back when they were of lower quality. Can't say for certain with this and the T40 Plus being less than a year old but I'd trust they'd be fine.

      This is probably applicable though

  • Is this T40pro physically the same as a T40plus ?
Coz there doesnt seem to be alot of silicone cases available for T40 pro, but theres a few for T40plus.

    • Looking around on spec websites it would seem they're an identical size so I'd say that they do fit.

    • Turns out the Pro and Plus models have different button (power + volume) layouts. So the cases will be different :(

      • +2

Ive found Silicone cases on AliExpress which allegedly fit the Pro…

        Eg.
        https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003980197980.html

I've used these style of cases before (with an Alldocube 40H)…and found theyre pretty child (drop) proof.

        • I got one of those said silicone cases… turned out to be HORRIBLE.

Was actually for an old T40, so the case is too big, which meant the tablet slid around inside the case.
And the cutouts were all wrong too.
But worst was the smell… it stank like petroleum… even after leaving it outside for a few days.
All the silicone cases ive had in the past.. practically had no odor at all.
So there was something seriously wrong with this one :(

  • Nobody mentioning the bezels? Website photo shows bezels is thin, but actual photos show it is thick and you can see this on Youtube videos as well. Seems dodgy

    • All the Chinese brands do it. I wouldn't overthink it.

      • Are you sure about that? I have the Xiaomi Mipad 5 and the bezels are thin and actually looks like the photo.

        • They're not a budget Chinese brand like Teclast or CHUWI.

          • -3

@Clear: I'm well aware of that. Just pointing out your incorrect statement.

  • How long will these get android updates?

    • +1

      Probably never.

  • Nice unit but no LTE Band 28, so might struggle with 4G outside of capital cities.
AU$263.94 inc GST from Banggood but they only deliver within the 'FastWay' footprint and good luck with that !

Same price as Alldocube iPlay 40H.
