FYI since this happened to me: you have to hold the switches for a few seconds to turn it on/off, its not broken.

And on the off chance you use Stream deck, do not hook it up to this hub (or any other usb hub) unless you want to unplug and replug this into the hub everytime you restart your pc/laptop. I dont know the technical details but unlike other usb accesories the streamdeck needs to be connected to a usb port directly on the pc or it only lights ups with the logo and doesnt sync with the pc for some reason

    • sounds like the 3A plug might only be for the charging port? mmm

i bought a "powered" usb3 hub and the power supply was only like 800ma, enough to light up the on/off switch lol wouldn't do anything at all to really power the ports.

I literally ordered one of these last night because they were having a 'lightning deal' that was more expensive than this price.. 🤔
    Cancelled and re-ordered, thanks.

  • This was cheaper in December. Got one then.

  • I have two of those and they're the most stable usb hubs I ever got. I run couple of disc drives of it and most of my sim racing gear and there are no problems there.

    • So no problems with demanding power devices?

      • Well it comes with a 5v 3A power adapter, so can only supply 15w of power total.

I have these things connected: 4tb Seagate drive (has extra power supply though), 1tb WD drive, KB, Mouse, Headphones amp, Fanatec pedals, Fanatec wheel base.
All this works for me and sometimes I use one of the devices to charge my phone. They have the power supply which is why I bought them. for the price, they do what I want them to do.

    • Thanks for that, specifically trying to power an Audioengine D1 DAC as the provided USB cable is too short, and anything longer seems to drop out occasionally or have issues with a non-powered usb docks. Sounds like this one should do the trick!

    • Hi Toxic,

Could you please check the chipset in this hub or get the VID:PID of it?
I want a hub for RPI4, but seems only VL817 chipset will work with the RPI4.

      Many thanks.

      • Hi mate, sorry, but I can't really do that easily. I've mounted both of them in a desk I built and it would be extremely difficult to remove them. Try checking with the manufacturer. Also, I did run Arduino UNO and MEGA off it but I am not sure if that means that RPI would run too.

These work well with Raspberry Pi 4 for connecting 2 x 2.5" HDD I use as a makeshift server, gives enough power to spin the drives & no back power issue to the RP4 when it's starting up.

    • Thanks. Good to know. Will grab one to have a try. I have other two usbhubs. One chip-set is GL3520, other one is VL813. On RPI4, VL813 is very unstable, crashed from time to time. GL3520 is better, but got USB reset after 60G transferring.

      • So far the most I've transferred in one go is 39GB and it works, so can't say how it goes on any larger transfer size. I've only just set up OMV last week, so the longest uptime so far is 6 days without issue.

  • I have one of these from a while ago still in use. Paid less on Ali at the time. Works well.

  • does that power plug only work for the usb charger port?

    • I'm using portable USB drives with no problem. You have to turn on power for the port which then lights up.
