It seems a good deal. Other places are all selling around $1160.

10,000 RPM? This thing'll have me dummy thic in no time
It will be this price because Total Tools have a Dewalt road show on and they have it for $1165 but comes with a $200 Dewalt voucher. You could see if they will price match bunnings and then buy a dewalt stanley knife etc to get the $200 voucher.
"Hi Pnut,
As advised—our Lowest Price Guarantee Policy indicates, should you find a lower advertised price for the identically stocked product elsewhere, we will happily match the price.
Unfortunately, given the Dewalt promotion we are running at the moment we are unable to process this price match."
made my decision to not spend money easy atleast
Is this merch from the Twitch streamer, Thicc Nesser?
Lol at that price you'd expect helical cutter heads , not good buy better products out there for the price

Agree with this comment. Not sure why it's down voted
Can anyone comment on the differences between these two? looks like they come from the same factory, Machineryhouse is $180 cheap & slightly more powerful, what other features are important in a thicknesser?
Update:
Sherwood has solid granite base, 35kg, 5 year warranty.
MachineryHouse looks like folded metal base, 30kg, 2 year warranty and photos show a straight cut head but description says Helical.MachineryHouse one is not a true helical head- need to look at the photos of the cutters
Not if compared to industrial thicknessers, very true, but still big improvement over standard cutting heads
Great post.
This machine is the absolute "best in class" compared to others, even those with helical or spiral cutterheads. It's a very heavy, solid but of gear.
They also tend to hold their value quite well, selling secondhand for ~$800.
I've had mine for years now, still goes smooth, whereas mates with other gear have had loads of issues. I will only get rid of this when I upgrade to a 20" floor standing unit.
This unit is also very rigid, which means that you get much less snipe on a board, especially compared to other cheaper thicknesses (looking at you Ryobi)
Great buy, wouldn't hesitate to buy again
Agreed, this is a great piece of kit. Very solid and works great. Blades are double sided and mine came with a full spare set in the box that I wasn’t expecting.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this compared to the Sherwood Spiral Head? This one is currently on sale at Timbecon for $1049 +delivery

I have this one. love it. used it on old hardwoods- can't believe how smooth the finish is!! also, much, much quieter and faster than the ryobi one I murdered a few months ago.
Here is a lot discussion regarding these two thicknesser on woodwork forum.
https://www.woodworkforums.com/f154/dewalt-dw735xe-vs-carbat…I upgraded from the Ryobi to the Sherwood Spiral Head the day it went on sale. Was hesitating a lot on dumping 1k on a new unit so held out for the sale and it really is worth it. Faster, more powerful, more solid, and MUCH quieter. So far i have not been abused by my neighbour and their hose so that's an improvement.
Was considering getting a Dewalt second hand and putting a Sherwood spiral head on it, but given the warranty issues i went through with the Ryobi, having a 5 year warranty with the Sherwood and being able to hit the ground running was a big plus. Have not regretted it.
One issue is you WILL need dust extraction. There is a lot more fine sawdust compared to the straight blade shavings, and the cheapest ozito wet n dry vac i rigged up struggles a bit to clear it. I'll upgrade to a more powerful vac when the opportunity presents itself.
Can you link the helical cutter for the Ryobi? I had a look around when I got mine but couldn't find anything that matched the model number exactly.
Hey Briggs i meant a complete upgrade to the Sherwood machine … not just the head. It feels a lot more durable than the Ryobi. But if you are keen on keeping the Ryobi you could look into the Byrd Shelix helical cutter head as a possible option.
Probably best value for money and go to for many if not all in my circle of carpenter woodworking mates.
I was looking and they also have a package for a couple of hundred more with a DC50 dust collector which might be a good deal
Just put a ring on her finger, usually works better as a thicknesser
a thicknesser controls thickness….
Yeah. This removes thickness. Marriage adds it.
This comment is just plane silly.
Great price for a great machine!
I've been keeping an eye out for a cheap one of these.
They are pretty much top of the line for consumer grade, even better when you upgrade them to a spiral headmy 2cents opinion, helical head is much better than the factory blade, with this price i definitely will go with a sherwood brand, they had a promotion on last black friday for 899, regretfully didnt get one by then……
If it's a good price, I might buy one. But, could someone explain what it does??
If you got a thick wood then you use this to make it thin ;)
Thats a pretty good price. Think I got mine for around that price a couple of years ago in a sale too.
