2x Sets Bug A Salt 3.0 with Laser Sight for $129.99 + Delivery ($19.99 to WA) @ Bug A Salt

470
COMEFLYWITHME

I have seen these on and off but have never tried it. Had been tempted to buy it but have not got around to it. Till now.

After looking at many reviews, I think the conclusion is:
- If you want to kill flies easily - spray Mortein
- If you want to kill without chemicals, use a fly swatter or a zapper. Though the swatter will leave a gut and blooded dead fly.
- If you want to have fun killing them, then buy this

The deal is to buy two of the newest version guns, add 2 of the laser sights, use the code, then the laser sights are free.
Shipping is $19.99 for me to WA.

From what I can see, this is the cheapest I've seen with the laser sights and 3.0

    • A poster above stated 20cm range. Reviews showed 24" (60cm) range works well. I don't know yet as I haven't tried

      • Sorry, the reply was meant for the comment below

    • Aaaah the good ol soft underbelly.

Does this have enough force to squish roaches?

    • That's so convoluted, it's encroaching on 'cruelty' territory

  • +1

I wanted one of these but the <20 cm range is disappointing at this price.

    • if you want eco friendly, spray windex or spray and wipe ….. they cant fly and you can use the overspray to clean up also …. unlike salt which rusts steel if not cleaned up ….

  • +1

Aren't these like $30 on sale sometimes and now they've added a $5 laser pointer? And they Afton haven't fixed the range issue (maybe they can't for safety). Total non-buy.

    • Show me where

    • There are ebay knockoffs, but they aren't as good. My mate got one and it feels meh compared to the real thing. Honestly I love going fly hunting…. i don't know how far away you really need to be, 30cm is fine.

  • The zapper gives such a satisfying crackle or pop when you hit the fly, especially with new batteries.

    • +1

not to mention the overwhelming smell of burnt flesh victory, every time.

  • I will stick to my electric swatter. Only being able to kill a fly while it's not moving seems pointless. Lastly why is it so expensive?!

    • Because its fun. Pump action shotgun a fly rather than waving a tennis racket around

    • Because it's very well built. It has quite a bit of weight to it and everything feels overengineered. It doesn't feel like a cheap toy that will break in a year or two…. mine is about 18 months old and hasn't got any signs of wear.

  • I'll keep using my chopsticks for flies

    • what do you eat the flies with? locust bread?

  • Great R&D! Such a innovative product to catch insects.

  • Already thinking I need this with a rail attachment for all the olight torches I have

    https://www.olightstore.com.au/olight-e-wm25-offset-rail-mou…

The E-WM25 Torch Mount is a reliable solution to attach a torch to your gear. You can connect any 1 inch/25.4mm body diameter flashlight to a gear with a MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rail without getting in the way of your grip or sights. Attach on the fly, no tools needed.

  • I love mine! It's surprisingly well built and is quite hard to cock, which is a good thing. My young kids can't do it which is added safety.
It does hurt if you shoot yourself in the foot (I had to try it)
It will absolutely kill a fly but yes, you need to be about 25-30cm from it. It's not a big deal, and you get used to it pretty quick.

Honestly It's so much fun and when I'm in the kitchen it's much better to blast one into oblivion that to spray fly spray near my food.

  • Any specials on the CZ Shadow 2?

  • Was mulling to buy this on amazon ($139) but just couldn't see the value… As soon as this deal popped up, instant buy! Don't know whether to thank the OP for saving me money or wasting me money, hehe.

Salt-a-bug inventor makes $28 million/year from a toy that kills flies, lol.
    https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/23/self-made-millionaire-invent…

"But he always had this idea to make a gun to kill flies. “It’s fun, and it’s ridiculous,” Maggiore says. “I couldn’t let it go.”
He tried to make and market one in the ’90s, but it didn’t go anywhere. “It was really crude.” Then, in 2009, Maggiore’s sister passed away. “She was really kind of a fan of mine, or a supporter.” He decided at that moment to give the idea one last shot. “I just looked up at the sky and said, ‘Ok, I’m going to try this again.’”
Maggiore maxed out his credit cards and went to China to spend two months working with a prototype toy maker. He would eventually spend $70,000 of profits from his wallpaper hanging business, along with about $30,000 from an angel investor he met through a friend of the family. Finally, the prototype was completed. “I’m just sitting in the hotel looking at this thing that I’ve done,” he recalls, laughing. “It’s ready for the world, but I have nowhere to sell it. I have no plan!”"

  • I have the electric racket. Can get them in the air. Was cheap on ebay. Theres a video on youtube that shows you how to make them stronger but you will need to earth it after use. Works well.

    I just use chop sticks…..

  • Useless gimmick.

Shoot a fly near your pot plants? You kill your plants too with salt.

Shoot them near a leather couch? You risk damaging the leather layer.

Shoot them anywhere up on the ceiling, you get salt particles in your hair.

  • Just watched a few of this dudes YT vids, over the years - Is it just me or has the ageing process been unkind to this fella…

Maybe retired to the Gold Coast/Florida on all the Millions from the Fly Killer?
    or
It may be all the salt !!

  • +3

I can’t believe they didn’t market them as an a-salt riffle.
