Hell yeah, Xenoblade 3 coming soon

    • +2

So excited it was that instead of botw 2 omg hype!

      • I don’t mind if they announce botw2 this year too but sadly waited for the whole Nintendo Direct and got no news on it :(
anyway still happy with the other releases!

        • BotW2 was already announced to be releasing this year, that's if it doesn't get delayed, of course.

    • Still cant find X2 physical copy :(.

      • +2

Torna the Golden Country is the rare game, I'm afraid.

        • That AND X2, of course digital is cheaper but I dont want to. :(

          • @linhlink: Actually, Torna isn't really a rare find. It is just really expensive for a new copy (price gauging for a rare item). If you don't mind a used physical copy and Japanese (with English voice) version, you can find them $55-$75 in Aus. The only downside is that it doesn't include the XC2 DLC content code. In the end, i think XC2 + digital expansion pass (which includes Torna) is the way to go if you just want to play the game and are not a collector. You can get a new copy of XC2 ~$90 overseas shipped to Aus. Even a used copy of XC2 is at $50-$60 overseas on average. I guess people are willing to pay more for the used and thus the higher price point here in aus.

            • @koala123: wait, what's the DLC content code for Torna? Does that stuff come with the digital version?

              • +1

@Blitzfx: When you buy the digital expansion pass, it is the DLC content for XC2 + Torna. You need a copy of XC2 in this case. If you buy a new physical copy of Torna, it comes with a DLC code that you can claim for XC2.

                • @koala123: Do you mean if I buy Torna, it comes with the expansion pass and not the other way around?
                  https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/xenoblade-chronicles-2…

Just wanna be sure i'm not missing something lol
Looked on the store and couldn't see the expansion pass by itself, not that it makes much difference in the end

                  • +1

@Blitzfx: No. If you buy the digital Torna only, it doesn't come with the DLC. You cannot buy the digital Torna only in Aus Nintendo eshop. You have to go through the US site. In Aus eshop, you need to buy the XC2 expansion pass. https://ec.nintendo.com/AU/en/bundles/70070000000681. However, you need a copy of XC2 in this case. Or you can buy the bundle which is on sale atm.

                    • @koala123: ok nice, see it now. thnx for the clarification

            • @koala123: A lot of people do mind and since we're in Australia, finding a local copy with an ACB rating is the most desirable.

            • @koala123: You got a link to the Japanese version of Torna? I wouldn't mind getting that.

              • @Orion au: I don’t think Japanese version has English. Be aware when you buy.

                • -1

@rhyme324: I'm reasonably certain that it'd play in English. Switch games I purchased in Japan do, and from what I can see online, Torna does too.

                  • @Orion au: Most switch games do, but not for Xenoblade2.

Xeno2 JPN ver has JPN audio and JPN/CHN subs.

Western Ver has JPN/ENG audio and ENG sub.

              • @Orion au: PM you.

        • I got it, and I don't think the DLC code is worth worrying about. It's just free credits etc that you can grind up instead.

        5 available.
Can be found for $75-85 preowned.

  • +1

That's a stellar lineup. I'll be picking up 4 of them.

  • +7

Still hoping there's a Xeno collectors edition to be announced that I can only buy at an exhorbitantly high cost at EB

    • What's "exhorbitantly high cost" mean?

      • +4

        About tree-fiddy

    • Hopefully! I want it to match my 1 & 2 collectors editions.

  • What’s the general experience of people regarding Amazon delivering on the day of release?

I have preordered Horizon from Amazon and have heard mixed things about whether people actually receive the game on day of release.

    • +1

Depends on where you live. I've tended to get mine exactly on, or up to a few days before release. Never after.

    • +2

Dont try your luck if it would be released on Friday.

    • +2

I bought about 5 switch games pre-ordered from Amazon, 4 arrived on the day of release, Pokemon Arcteus arrived a day late. Sydney Metro area.

It can be quite hit and miss if your game comes sealed however (new switch games should be in shrink wrap) - a common complaint on Amazon, so for games with redeemable content I purchase from elsewhere.

      • +4

I don't believe switch games ever come shrink wrapped from Amazon. None of the many I've bought have.

        • It's hit and miss, I bought 9 switch games in total from Amazon in the last 15 months, most of mine actually came wrapped. I don't know why Amazon is the only notable seller here that sells new games that aren't wrapped.

          • @brosk1s: In another comment section someone made a good point about it but I can't remember what it was lol… Anyway it doesn't bother me 🙂

            • @scud70: I think the comment is usually the first few runs of first party Switch games are not shrink wrapped but subsequent runs are.

        • Mario Kart, Crash Bandicoot 4, Just Dance 2022 all came sealed from Amazon when I purchased.

Meanwhile I preordered Arceus + steelbook from Gamesmen, and that wasnt sealed.

          • +1

@MosaicCub: Amazon would've sealed them themselves, as switch games don't come sealed normally

      • So far all preorders have shipped the day before and arrived on release day.

    • +1

They used to be really good at delivering on release day, but I feel like ever since the pandemic they've been 2-4 days late.

    • +1

I stopped preordering Switch games on Amazon. The Friday release + Australia post meant they were showing up on Tuesday at the earliest.

I may give it a shot again given delivery times have improved since they started using CODExpress - usually next day delivery from Sydney to Canberra, and even had a Sunday delivery last week.

    • The few I’ve ordered all arrived a few excruciatingly long days after release.

    • I can vouch for Adelaide getting dispatched ON THE DAY, and obviously not arriving until Monday. 3/3 Times, So EB Games price match is my new way

    • Amazon preorder has always gotten delayed for me (2 pre-orders Sydney Metro) but the two good things with that is:

      • they let you know if its going to be delayed a day of two ahead of release with an ETA
      • they don't charge you until they send out the item, so you can cancel for free.

The latest point of reference was Shin Megami Tensei V released in November, Amazon delayed by a few days but since launch was a Thursday and wanted to play it over the weekend i just cancelled and bought it at JB.

    • 90% of the time I get it on release day in Brisbane. Haven't had any issues since they switched from Aus Post to their own couriers. I think the one time it was late it still showed up on a Saturday so no big deal.

  • is this the best price for kirby?

    • I want to buy the e store c version at this price!

  • +1

Wow, Switch Sport! Was having a chat with friends over Xmas about how odd it was that this popular Wii game never got a sequel. Hope it works well, not sure if the controllers of the Switch are as sensitive as the Wii’s?

    • Lol it did get a sequel, wii sports resort 🙂

      • Well I meant for the current console.

        • Ah ok 🙂

    • +1

This is the third sequel now

Wii sports, Wii sports Resort, Wii sports Club and now Switch Sports

      • +2

What I meant, I can’t believe that it’s only coming out now, 5 years after the release of the Switch. The fact that it wasn’t a launch title could have been deliberate to keep people hanging on to their Wii a bit longer or they have struggled to make it work well (lots of R&D perhaps)? I don’t think they have only just started thinking about this in the past 2 years.

    • +1

The joy-con motion controls are actually improved over the Wiimote, they just don't get used all that often.

      • I guess for tennis, it’s nice to hold something that feels like a racket. If you’ve tried Sports Party on the Switch, you’d understand where my doubt comes from.

    • I've been waiting for this… will get physical to get the strap

      • Only $56 on the eshop. Maybe I can get the strap from a store if it supports 2P otherwise I can just use the one from ring fit.

  • +12

Anyone else happy to pay Amazon when you could go to your local JB instead and support an Australian business over one of the largest and problematic US corporations in the world?

Have a think before you pre-order on Amazon, even if you have prime, it'll be $1 cheaper than JB and you won't get it on release day.

    Just saying.

    • +4

If local stores have it for the same price I'll cancel the pre-order and pick it up there.

        • +2

Nice just preordered from jb, thanks

      • +4

If local stores have it for the same price I'll cancel the pre-order and pick it up there.

Most of the time I see Amazon matching other retail stores pricing.
If local retailers die Amazon will be charging whatever they want.

    • +6

Good point. Will get from JB instead - preorder canceled. I still have a gift card from them anyway.

    • +8

I mean JB Hifi has probably made huge profits from the pandemic. We live in a capitalist country, your better off supporting local businesses rather large companies.

      Just saying also.

      • +3

Yeah I think this is fair too, JB might be better than Amazon, but if there's other retailers you prefer that are also Australian, why not. Just not super keen on Amazon, at least for this.

    • I used to order all my game from Amazon but have changed to jb for the last year. If I get a day off means I can pick up at 9am.

A few from Amazon missed release day delivery, or came at 3pm. Pretty annoying when you managed a day off to play.

    • I'm picking option C; being a lazy man who doesn't want to swap games, and being happy with a digital library.
Thankfully we still have the NSO voucher pairs in Australia, which works out to $67.50 per game (plus $6.75 back in the account as gold coins)

After this Direct I think I'll be getting a few of them.. 😅

    • and you won't get it on release day

Always received preorders on release day, as I am in a Flex serviced area. Can understand if you live in an area that doesn't though. And if in the unlikely event it arrives late, Amazon will give you either $5 or $10 in promotional credit.

Plus can't be stuffed going physically into a store, petrol, time etc

    • Happy to support JB if they do same day delivery on the release date :(
As an introvert the only two reasons for me to go out are exercise and hanging out with friends. I literally buy everything online and use delivery including food, even though supermarket is just across the street lmao.

    • +1

I'm not going into a JB unless I have to, their stores are annoying… And I'm not paying for shipping from them when their shipping sucks… So yeah I'll be buying from Amazon.

      • +1

That's a pretty lame reason to pay Amazon imo. At my local if I pre-order it, I wait at the door 10m before opening on release day, I bee-line to the counter, they look up my order and I walk out… I don't know what your experience is with Amazon/Prime, mine is 'ok' but I have tried it just once for a pre-order and it arrived very late (next day, was a weekday), and besides, just don't want to give Amazon money.

        • you're obviously someone with more time on their hands than me if you can go and line up outside a place 10 min before they open, clearly your system works for you… mine works for me, especially when I don't have to leave the house… don't give Amazon money if you don't want to, but negging this post just because you don't like a company is stupid… they are good prices for new release games and free shipping that in my experience is a hell of a lot more reliable and quicker than JB… each to their own

          • +2

@KRiSX: I believe it's far less stupid than you think. Your only real voting power, is your wallet, and if you support the largest corporations for convenience, you decrease competition and worsen the economy for all in the long run. The good prices, are the same prices, $1 today isn't worth it. You could easily order online from plenty of other retailers. My "neg" is to hopefully bring awareness to the fact that 'hey, this is Amazon', and it looks like a few people have reconsidered. You don't have to of course, but there's my reasoning, I don't want to live in a world where I can only choose Amazon, so while I can I try to influence things the other way.

  • Been wanting to get Splatoon 2 but still have too many games unplayed. What's the chances Splatoon 2 will go really cheap with 3 coming out?

    • +2

What's the chances Splatoon 2 will go really cheap with 3 coming out?

I've learned to never wait for Nintendo 1st party games to go on sale, they basically sit at RRP forever. Even 2nd hand,.

      • Amazon prime day sale usually has good prices on some Nintendo games…if you get lucky they might have splatoon next time…

      • Yeh, that's my experience too, just haven't had a switch long enough to see a game get replaced and what that does to price

        • The Eshop is probably the only place you will find significant discounts. They do happen from time to time. Thats if you don’t mind digital versions.

      • They'll still sell you Super Mario Brothers (1985) for $15 on the virtual console, so they sure as heck won't discount 1st party games now.

  • +1

    August 31 for splatoon 3?
    Tell em their dreamin

Why would anyone be preordering that far in advance for splatoon?

  • All the same price at JB for those that prefer picking up on release

  • Wait hold up, we're up to the third FEW? Since when did the second came out?

Oh my god my poor wallet. I haven't been ready for all these games to be out. I haven't even played Arcues yet.

    • +1

It's based on the most recent mainline title: Three Houses, which is why it's called Three Hopes. So it's the second FEW, not the third. :)

      • +1

Oh that actually makes me disappointed. I love 3H's cast, but this is a cash grab with toei's assets. There's so many FE characters that haven't been explored yet.

Oh wells, I might buy it when it drops to 40 bucks. Thanks for clarifying

  • So pumped for Fire Emblem! I've never played a Warriors game before, but for a sequel to Three Houses I will give it a go! Looks like it's going to be a fifth / golden route scenario?

Might also pick up Xenoblade 3. I loved the first one but never got into the second. The original Xenogears is still one of my favourite PS1 games. So flawed but still so good.

  • +4

Amazon is just copying JB's prices.

Vooks has the current price comparisons

    https://www.vooks.net/preorder-roundup-nintendo-switch-sport…

  • -2

Which one is a rare game likely to sell out?

  • Wait for xb3 collection edition or whatever edition from eb. Or JB is the same price but 15% gift card and day one pickup would win me over Amazon.

  • What's the benefit of preorder? Do we get any gifts?

    • You'll get it for the cheapest price that it drops to before release.

  • Never even unwrapped splatoon 2 yet….I got to stop buying games I never get a chance to play

  • +2

    Sports: https://ec.nintendo.com/AU/en/titles/70010000049932
$56 online. I'd buy this online given the replayability of it and not needing to carry cards around. I know resale value but I feel like this is definitely a keeper anyway.
Doesn't come with the leg strap ($7 each on eBay - will buy a few for the whole family + already have a few from Ring Fits…)

Can cancel pre-order until 7 days prior.

    • This is my thought process… and given the eShop credit can be bought on sale for like 10-15% off, it might actually make more sense to buy the soft copy. I'm debating cancelling my preorder with Amazon since for once, the eShop price is decent.

ps. What leg straps do you have? I've only got one from one Ring Fit, but was debating if the eBay $7 ones are decent/same or inferior?

  • Live a live remake and chrono cross remastered 😃

  • XC3 September '22. So far away

  • +3

The Switch may be an ageing platform, but what a lineup of new games! This is where Nintendo absolutely kills it. Neither Sony nor Microsoft release as many new first party titles.

Sure, games like Horizon Forbidden West or Starfield are more complex than the upcoming Switch Sports. Still wouldn’t surprise me if Switch Sports sells more than these Sony and Microsoft exclusives combined.
