      • you are hoping to get another Samsung trash CPU when you could get a much better Snapdragon one? ok sounds like a great plan.

Exynos have never been better than the Snapdragons and this year's one, the 2200 looks like it will be the worst yet.

  • No micro-SD expandable storage = no interest from me.

  • I'll wait until the next promotion.
There was a time when Z Fold 3 received $700 trade in bonus.

  • I remember that some people didn't send in the trade in device last year when they purchased S21 ultra. Can we still do this way? I am happy for trade in company to charge the trade in price.

    • As discussed above, they put a hold on the full retail price on your Credit Card and, and only release the difference once the trade-in is returned and assessed.

      • Thanks. So it means that the old trick is no longer working. I am sure some users will do the same way. Let's see what's their feedback.

        • Someone mentioned above there is also a $60 fee if the trade-in isn't sent. Sounds as if they've shut down that option this year!

          • @ash2000: $60 fee was there last year. However we will need to wait to see the feedback. I believe that the method of not sending in still works.

      • which above? others are saying they'd hold ur trade-in value (if ur phone is $10, it'd be $10?). nobody ever said full retail price. I haven't tried myself though, so hopefully someone already tried can clarify

      • -1

I'd like to know where it's written that Asurion will place a hold on your CC for the full trade-in amount of the device. They didn't do it with the S21 trade-in program.

        • I can confirm full trade in value is placed on hold. Just ordered mine

          • @DukeNinja: Did you get a email confirmation for the order. My order on the store just shows processing. Idk if thats normal status this shipped out

          • @DukeNinja: "full trade in value" as in phone price + $450 or just the phone price?

      • This was not my exprience.

Ordered a Z Flip 3 and traded in my S10+ - received $190 off the Z Flip 3, as well as the other discounts and ended up getting the Z Flip for $400.

They have never emailed asking for the S10+, and my credit card has not been charged the extra.

        I might be lucky, tho.

        • Wow, almost worth the punt!

    • There was always a grey area about the trade in bonus and whether they could charge you that back. I haven't heard of it happening, but I'd also read the T&C carefully so you know where you stand. Just because it hasn't been charged back in the past doesn't mean they won't this time.

  • Question for you fabulous ladies and gents on here, if we preorder and trade in our phones, do we need to trade the devices in BEFORE putting the order in ?

    • In the past they send your new phone out straight away. Then you get the return info via email a few days after delivery confirmation of your new device. I can only assume it will be the same this year.

    • +1

No, you just need to run the Samsung trade app on each phone you want to trade in (max of 2), then it will give you a code to input when ordering, it will also put a pending charge of the amount of the trade in on a credit card and once you received the new phone, you will be sent instructions on how to send it in.

Finally gets SD this year, but rumour has it the exynoss is better this generation (especially for battery life, which is the main factor for me)

    • -4

      ???? Australia gets Exynos lol

  • Has anyone received a confirmation email and what order status are you seeming?

  • +2

Has someone done the math as to which is cheaper, edu/gov store or this trade in?

Everyone has offered a different opinion on what discount they get etc.

    • +1

My personal results going for the S22U 256GB.

      • Note 10 trade-in valued at $200.

      From Samsung Store:

      • $1999 base cost
      • minus $450 trade-in bonus + $200 from trade-in
      • FINAL = $1349 + you get your choice of one of the gift bundles
      • *BONUSCARE code doesn't work if you trade-in

      ALTERNATIVELY…

      JB Hi-Fi:

      • Exactly the same as above except they valued my Note 10 at $300 so it would be $100 cheaper in the end
      • I still haven't worked out any pros/cons from ordering from Samsung over JB or vice versa, so this does seem to be the better deal between the two

      From Edu Store:

      • $1599.20 base cost
      • minus $250 trade-in bonus + $200 from trade-in
      • FINAL = $1149.20 and no gift bundles

      OR..

Edu store does have a $200 discount for accessories, which I've found to work even if it doesn't total $200

      • I added the wireless charger trio for example ($127.20) and my total ended up dropping to $1076.40
      • Biggest downside for me for the edu store is that they don't sell a proper 45W charger and the 65W adapter isn't on there either, so you would be missing out on those but it does end up being a lot cheaper overall
      • Bonuscare code did work for me with a trade in and on the edu store adding the 20$ case, you get a - $200

        • Yup I was going to mention that the accessories thing is abusable if you add something cheap in, but can't seem to edit my comment anymore.

Also right, BONUSCARE does work but you actually have to add the $149 package first before it accepts the code.

New total after adding the $20 case is $969.50.

Really wish I could edit my original comment again.

          • +1

@antonlabz: Thanks so much mate, really appreciate it

Edit: maybe some mod can edit your comment with the price or add it to the post as it's quite handy

          • @antonlabz: Bummer. I could not get this working…could have been cheaper but it's such a hassle to cancel and order again :(

  • Bit the bullet on S22 Ultra 512 Gb (EDU store). Traded my Note + and added in buds2 for a total of $1224.40 (total discount $1143.60). Not bad I'm guessing.

    • How much did you get for the Note?

      • $220

  • Just pre orderd 1TB red s22 Ultra via samsung Govt store got 20 % discount, paid $1959, actual price $2500.

  • Used the trade up app to get code. Just saw a $310 charge on my credit card by Asurion. Aren't they suppose to only put $1 charge to check my Cc not the full trade in amount.

Anyone else got charged full trade in value on their Cc?

    • Got charged for $220 for Note 10+ too. However, the transaction is pending so I think it will go away if I dont end up buying and trading in.

    • Ditto….got charged the full $220 (Note 10+) amount on my CC too.

    • Did they charge you for the trade-in bonus as well? Or just the device amount?

  • +2

    Okay. So here's my results

Note 10+ $220 traded in for 512gb Red Note 22 Ultra $1,719.20 via GOV

$1,719.20 minus $200 if you bought accessory - bought silicone strap $41 so net $159.

Minus $220 trade in plus another $200

    Minus $50 Samsung Signup Bonus

Free SamsungCare but you must add it first and then apply BONUSCARE code

    Total discount $159 + $420 + $50 = $629

    $1,719.20 - $629 = $1,090.20 Final Cost.

And I can confirm Asurion will charge full amount first ($220) in advance. So no more $1. Looks like they are going to charge it as a full charge rather than pre-auth. When you use the App it will tell you this.

Going to be really sad farewelling my Note 10+. It has been awesome.

    • How did you get the $50 signup bonus?

      • +1

Back in December, when I was dicking around with Z Flip, I went to Samsung website and the pop up message asking me to sign up to receive email/newsletter and they'll give me $50 voucher via email. I kept that voucher.

    • what credit card are you using, they wont take mine im screwed.

      • For the Asurion? Normal Visa. For payment of phone, Afterpay it lol.

    • That’s sad. I was hoping to get the bonus credit and sell it elsewhere lol

      • You'll still get the extra $200 I think but yes, no more $1 virtual Mastercard trick although they took your ID when trading in via the app.

        • The price of the phone is higher than 200 unfortunately.

And higher than the bonus 400 trade in value. Oh well :3

          (S21U)

    • How did bonus care work on the govt website?

      • Add Samsung Care first and then in promo code enter BONUSCARE.

The option to add Samsung Care is available at checkout.

        • Not sure why I was getting an error oearlier. Just called Samsung to cancel the order and placed a new one.

    • So are you going to send your note 10 in?

      • I think I would. I must admit I am bit conflicted but learned the lesson of the past of not holding old phones as they just simply become worthless.

    • So im guessing if you decide not to send in, you will only be charged the device trade in value, but keep the bonus discounts and extras on the order?

      • Yes. Trade in value+$60 admin fee

  • I'm trading my old note 8 in for 45 bucks… has a blink and you miss crack in the screen. Going to take the punt for the 450 credit bonus lol

  • I found a protential security issue with samsung trade up…. apparently the trade up code can be easily guessed and people can use other people's code, my code is SAXXXXX1 and apparently SAXXXXX2 is also valid, i m assuming its someone else's code….

    • Hmmm but when they investigate it, they will be able to figure out based on the ID linked to it

Probably will take ages to resolve it if someone missiles someone else's.

    • +2

There's an error message when I tried to use my code, changed the last digit and picked up a valid code. I didn't use it of course and I hope no one uses it either (bad karma)

Samsung should make their code harder to guess

      • +1

i hope there are more people like u in the world, some people already start message me asking for trade up codes…

        • Not sure how that will help anyone. As soon as it comes back to Samsung and they see it is not the same phone or not what was quoted, they will start questioning things. Seems like all you would be doing is creating more of a head ache for yourself while it gets resolved.

          • @czechboi: Plus the code has an ID linked to it, which could also look like a fraud.

      • Clearly they arent using a randoniser.

    • Do the name and email on the Samsung trade up app have to match the account buying the phone?

      • nope

  • +1

Does anyone have a code for $50 of sign up to communications?

I did this approx.2 weeks ago when I signed up for the Unpacked S22 event. From memory a pop appeared saying get $50 of your Samsung purchase $350 or over when you sign up for marketing/communications. No email No code etc

Live chat no help either and the $50 off pop up I got when I signed up for unpacked has gone.

  • Anyone here with Samsung subscription?
So after 12 monthly payment you can upgrade to next Samsung flagship for free? No extra cost? What's the catch

    • I did the calculation, not really worth it. Its hassle-free though if you don't want to sell your phone yourself.

      • How's your calculation?

        • S22 ultra 256 at $102pm, so in 12 months you paid $1,224 and then you get a new phone on another 18 months contract.

Let's assume your phone's trade-up value after 12 years is $650 and there is a trade-up bonus of $450, your phone is worth $1100 in Samsung value when buying a new phone.

But when you trade up after 12 months, you have to pay for a new phone for 18 months.

          • @abs898: Trade value of $650 is based on S21 ultra's value right now. I checked its worth 650 atm.

            • @abs898: Ohhh the catch is then you'll have to pay monthly for your new phone too. Not good. I thought I'd get new phone after 12 months but would be paying rest of the old phone's remaining cost.

              • @sagrgar: That is too good to be true! That literally means you pay 18 months $1899 for 2 phones with one returned in 12 months

                • @abs898: I think you need to start paying for the new phone for another 18 months.

                  • @nulled: Yeah that's what I said. It's not worth it because eyou first pay for 12 months, return the phone and start a new one for 18.

  • anyone getting the following error

"Sorry, we are having a problem executing your request. Please try again later"

Do I need to upgrade the samsung trade up app?? this is after the ID check

    • Just clear the cache and data

      • tried that still doesnt work. I guess ill have to update the app :(

        • Might as well, uninstall it first.

        • Update the App. It will change the disclosure from taking $1 into the whole trade in amount once you updated the App.

          Then it should work.

  • +1

Don't pay with the Samsung Pay option at checkout, it seems to mess up all the discounts so my $1,549 order became $2,128.40. Unbelievable.

    • lol unlucky mate

    • Same thing happened with me few months back. I called them 7 times to cancel but they still delivered. So incompetent.

  • Has anyone when using the trade-in app had there phone value charged to their card aswell as a dollar? Also are you able to not trade in your phone and still get the trade in bonus?

  • +1

Anyone getting the below error when using the trade up code?

"Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment"

    • Yeah, I've been trying the last few hours

      • Seems to be a recurring theme everytime they run this promo. I'll try again tomorrow.

        Thanks for responding.

        • I did but realised that you have to enter your credit card details in order to have it activated for online use. Otherwise, the code generated without credit card details is only for in-store use.

          • @booga-b: I did use my credit card, they already put a pending charge for the trade in value

    • I resolved this by using the "online trade-in" option (rather than the in-store option), then clicking on the link within the app which takes you to the Samsung website.

      • I tried that also, no luck.

  • Does anyone know if the S22s come with screen protectors preinstalled like the last versions?

    • They always do for years now.

      • Well last year the Exynos version did. Snapdragon didn't.

So since we're getting the SD this time, maybe no screen protector? Who knows, wait and see

  • If I want to do the trade in the value of my device is $190 as Samsung app says.

So if I click on trade it I will get $450 and if I don't send the device they will charge me $190 plus $60? Am I right?

    • I wasn't charged $60 last time. Dunno this time round.

      • Did you get to keep the extra tradein discount and bonuses? Considering the order was already processed.
