That’s how it was last year for my S21 ultra on Edu.
Got the phone cheap and the leather case and chargers free with the 200 off accessories.

Come to think of it, the triple wireless charger was completely free as a bonus.

  • Does anyone know if the 45W Charger is the "ideal" charger to use for the 22 Ultra?

    • +1

      It's the 65w I believe

      • Thanks! On a side note, I started the Samsung Chat and they mentioned it's compatible with the 24W, 45W and 65W, but their recommendation would be to go with the 45W

        • The 65W Power Adapter Trio (EP-T6530NBEGAU), comes in the pre-purchase bundles for the S22 Ultra.
I would go for that, I'm sure they will throttle down to 45w, and it gives you some future proofing for the next phone too.

  • What's the price on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ ? I'm assuming it's also 20% off?

  • +4

I wish S22 Ultra was also flat screen and not curved. Would have been perfect for my liking.

  • Has anyone figured out $150 worth of accessories to go with the Tab S8?

    • I bought ultra so I grabbed the keyboard.

You don't need to add 150 on items just need one accessory and the price should stick drop as it comes off the unit not the accessory

      • Hmm, I added just the Galaxy Tab S8 Protective Standing Cover but that didn't work.

        • Oh they might have changed it. It was working at 2am when I was playing around with it all

  • $200 off an accessory or wearable

instead of these, can't we get further $200 off from the listed price ?

    • +1

you can, I just bought a $27 silicone case and got a $200 discount on the phone.

      • that's great! can we get Galaxy S22 8GB RAM, 128GB storage for $799.20 + $27 then?

        • hmm not sure, I bought the s22 ultra, looks like some comments are saying it's $100 off for other models.

      • That does not work anymore. Have to add wearable / accessories upto value of $200 or more to get the $200 discount. Will try on the phone.

  • keep getting ERROR: 500 - INTERNAL SERVER ERROR
anybody knows how to get rid of this?

  • +2

Got $1164 for the s22 ultra 256gb plus a clear case… Now we wait .

    Hope the phone is good

    • How did you manage that? Please share :)

    • did the $200 off and $250 trade-in stack? what about Care+?

      • +2

Yeah stacked those. No care+. Traded a old iphone 7 for 5 bucks that I won't bother sending in. And there accessory total discount works with the cheap accessory but they may fix that soon?

        • +1

What do you mean you won't bother sending in. Won't they cancel your order if you don't send the trade in device? Can you explain please as it sounds like an interesting way to get the trade in bonus?

Edit: Just reading the below and it sounds like you won't get the trade in value or the bonus without sending in a device?

"I just went through it too checking what my value was and it has charged me $650. WTF!

Just read the T&C - a temporary hold fee equivalent to the estimated trade-in value of your devices(s) will be held against your valid credit/debit card until we receive and complete our final assessment of your eligible device (after which the hold fee will be released). Trade-in credits (including excess credits for trade-ins at Samsung Stores), are not exchangeable, redeemable for cash or able to be used in subsequent transactions. You must pay any outstanding amounts for the purchase of accessories and/or other products not covered by the trade-in credit value and/or any other discounts that may be applied."

          • @C0mbat: +1. They added a charge of the full phone value fee in the last week!

Loophole closed! Don't use unless you have a phone worth $5. Get the bank to charge back and cancel the trade-up.

            • @Techie4066: I think it's the same really, except they are now preemptively taking the payment early instead of later if you didn't return the device or the device was not as you described.

              • @bobbie34567: Yes, which negates the benefit of the loophole. Majority of the time they didn't charge.
They have an email but they don't respond.

                • @Techie4066: Maybe it's done to stop people using a dodgy card with $1 on it and sending in a photo of their ass as the ID.

                  • @djlee: I think it's mostly because the contract requires people to actually send in their phones 😂
The card hold motivates people to act on it, and might actually be charged in the event of a non-return.
But what you described comes along with people abusing the system. I may have done so. But what is absolutely ridiculous is charging without an order having been placed with the trade-up code.

    • how?

    • +1

      Got it for 1111.70 for s22ultra 256gb with clear standing case, galaxy buds2, care + with a 240$ trade in(s20fe 5g 128gb)

      • +1

        How? Can u explain plz?

  • Do we ever get dual physical sim in Aus?

    • Not since Note 9.

  • +1

Did they change the Trade-In process? It looks like you get charged for the value of the phone up-front now, or was that always the process?
Does anyone know if in the event that you don't end up buying a new phone with that code (and the code expires), whether you get that money back?

    • +2

I just went through it too checking what my value was and it has charged me $650.

You must pay any outstanding amounts for the purchase of accessories and/or other products not covered by the trade-in credit value and/or any other discounts that may be applied.

      • +1

I'm hoping that means IF you decide not to go ahead with purchasing a new phone with that credit, you'll get your money back (definitely for your sake because $650 is a lot of money!).

I'm not sure if this has always been there, but please note the bolded part:

If you do not to return your device in 7 days , you will be automatically charged the value of the trade-in credit plus a $60 (AUD) administration fee. Samsung may also charge you for any additional bonus credit which was applied to your order.

In the event that you DO go ahead with using your trade-in code, I'm guessing you'll be risking $60 (admin fee from Asurion for not sending your phone back) for a potential $190 gain ($250-$60).

        • +1

This bit is what worries me: "Samsung may also charge you for any additional bonus credit which was applied to your order." That would completely negate the benefits calculation. I realise they had a loophole last year where they did not claw back the bonus trade-in credit, but there is no guarantee they will do the same this year.

          • @findingbargains: Do you mind explaining what you meant by the loophole? I've trawled through the past Trade-in deals and couldn't find any references to the bolded part I mentioned above, so I'm not sure if it's because it was never there or Samsung never bothered to execute it

            • +1

@cassiopeia: I meant that if you applied for trade-in that also included an additional promotional bonus, and you then used the trade-in to purchase a new handset yet never ended up sending in your old handset back, then they would charge you back for the trade-in amount but not the additional promotional bonus amount i.e. you got to benefit by being able to sell your phone for more money on eBay or gumtree and still get to keep the trade-in promo bonus as a discount on your new handset. As an example, in this case additional trade-in promotional bonus is $250 (in EDU store, $450 in retail store) on top of your old handset trade-in value, if buying an S22 Ultra.

              • @findingbargains: Yep, I get what you meant. Sorry, I guess my thoughts are that I can't see any substantial difference in that process from then vs now. Technically, I would say that Samsung never originally meant for people to complete the Trade-in process and not return the phone, hence voiding that bonus trade-in bonus.

But seeing as I can't tell if that statement "Samsung may also charge you for any additional bonus credit which was applied to your order" was ever included previously, I can't say that for sure 100%.

                • +1

@cassiopeia: That clause wasn't there until this week. Fairly sure.
Used the loophole last month for S21 FE and no charge to date.

                  • @Techie4066: FWIW, I've decided to give it a shot - at most, I'll cop the $60 for the admin fee.

That clause I copied and pasted was from the FAQ regarding the Trade-in process for anyone who was interested.

                    • @cassiopeia: No don't do it, I have a pending charge for the device value on my bank account after just applying it in checkout (not buying anything) - it may just be a hold, but if I don't send it in I fear it may go through. If you're not planning on returning the device, or if it's not a cheap one like a $5 iPhone 7, do not do it.
                      It's changed very recently.

                      • @Techie4066: ah, too late now - pulled the trigger!

My device was only worth $25 anyway (pretty pitiful) but I'm guessing that hold you have may could be due to the first part of the sentence:
If you do not to return your device in 7 days , you will be automatically charged the value of the trade-in credit plus a $60 (AUD) administration fee. So in my case, I received a $25 initial "discount" and when they don't receive my phone, they'll probably keep that $25 hold on my credit card.

                        • @cassiopeia: I think you're looking at the old terms. New document has this new device value hold detailed.

                          • @Techie4066: oh, do you mind sharing this?

                            • @cassiopeia:

a temporary hold fee equivalent to the estimated trade-in value of your devices(s) will be held against your valid credit/debit card until we receive and complete our final assessment of your eligible device (after which the hold fee will be released).

Here under important info at the bottom, and in the PDF T&Cs (Samsung Online s5.2(b)).

                              • @Techie4066: This part is interesting:

a Device Non-Return Fee and a Device Non-Return Administration Fee if You do not
return Your Existing Device to Us within seven days after the date on which You receive
                                Your New Samsung Device.

I think that hold could be the device non-return fee?

                                • @cassiopeia: Perhaps. Thing is, I was charged without proceeding with the order - while targeting those that have actually checked out is the whole objective of this clause!

          • @findingbargains: Cannot find this wording in the terms and condition of the trade in pdf,
Do you mind sharing the link where you read this?

"Samsung may also charge you for any additional bonus credit which was applied to your order."

        • +1

It is crazy they charge you when i havent even bought anything!

          • @JakeTheMuSS: They've patched it over because people were abusing it. Fair enough.

          • @JakeTheMuSS: It’s a pre authorisation hold which will return if you don’t use the trade in code

        • I did not find these in Samsung T&C's:
          https://images.samsung.com/is/content/samsung/assets/au/terms/trade-up/samsung-online-trade-up-terms.pdf?$ORIGIN_PDF$

  • As a comparison through Vodafones trade-in deal, got $1110 total trade-in value (value $510 + bonus $600) for a S21 256gb but of course you'll have to take one of their plans as part of deal, minimum 12 mths at $38 per month plan with 80gb of data unlimited calls etc, or $47.25 for 200gb data, well you get to pay off phone over 12, 24 or 36 months which might help some 👍😁

  • for me its working out to be $533 to upgrade from S21U to S22U

1433 including the case, samsung care +
    -250 trade in bonus
    -650 for S21 U
    =533 $

    might be justifiable

    • Does accessory bonus stack with trade in?

      • Not sure yet. I don't wanna proceed with getting trade in code until im 100% certain on the phone. As the 3rd party company samsung uses now authorises full amount not $1 like last year.

Maybe someone else can confirm about the trade in bonus stacking with accessory bonus : )

edit: comment below confirms it stacks.

    • I need to get an Edu email lolz

  • +3

It seems "BONUSCARE" can work in EDU store now! Add the care first and then apply the code!!!

    • Yup, and MA9 newsletter works when only using one promotion. Not working in normal store this afternoon (was this morning).

    • May I know How do you get this BONUSCARE coupon?

Never mind, figured it out, seems the BONUSCARE is the coupon name.

  • +4

I can confirm that BONUSCARE + trade-in $250 bonus + $200 accessory bonus can stack now.
Buy 1 clear case and get -$200 on the phone, no need to spend $200 accessory. However the $50 newsletter code seems not to work on S22 Ultra.

I trade in my S20+ 128GB 5G for $345, and S22U 256GB final amount is ~$825 + ($345+$60 fee if you do not return the phone, according to my previous experience with Z Flip 3 5G deal)

    • thanks for confirming, I was unsure if accessory bonus will stack with 250 bonus!

    • +2

That is great… got a clear case for $20 and took another chunk off.

      S21 U 256GB + Clear case + Samsung Care = $519 for s22 ultra 256GB

      • +1

is there a clear case for s22 U? cheapest case i found was $36

nevermind found it - here's link if anyone needs it

      • +1

Did u put in credit card details in the app to get trade in code?

      • +1

Mind you though, the final payment (if you intend to keep your device) would be $519+$650+$60 = $1229 . Otherwise $1479 if Samsung doesn't honour the $250 bonus because you kept the device

      • Just did the same. Paid $533 with S21 Ultra trade in. Great deal for this new phone.

      • I read your comment and did the same and placed order in a jiffy. Then I realised I should rather have placed order for fast charger instead of the case
Don't really need the case 😉

    • How do you trade-in without returning? How do they verify you have S20 or S21?

  • +1

Is it like this that we get an actual trade in value of the current phone plus 250$ bonus for trade in?

  • -2

Looks like they changed the $200 discount for adding an accessory to $100.

    • +1

      Still the same.

  • Can anyone confirm if the tax invoice comes through when you order or when they send the device in a few weeks please?

And if you do get a tax invoice now do the accessories discounts show against the phone value (like in the online checkout process) or do they show against the accessories because my preference is that the discounts show against the accessories?

    • +1

Invoice sent in a few min, discounts show against phone value

  • Which is the best accessory to add with?, because I can't find any charger in the website.

  • Can someone pls confirm that the adding accessory deal is still $200 or has it changed to $100 now? Thanks

    • Still the same

  • Did anyone actually get an order confirmation email yet?

  • Will my kid's education.nsw.gov.au email work?

    • +3

Why don't you give it a try?

      • It works!

  • ordered one, total 1053 incl samsung care for 2 years and a leather case! :) no order confirmation email yet.

  • how to get the code from samsung chat? They are saying "Currently, they do not have "

    • You can actually get through? I keep getting cancelled chats. They must be getting smashed.

  • Anyone know whether Australia will get Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra 512GB version? I only see 128GB and 256GB version in Samsung preorder site. Maybe it will be available at later date?

  • +1

Need an education just to figure this out.

Now that the codes stack it looks like the EPP might be the way to go with trade in?

    Summary:
EPP = bonus $250 trade plus $200 accessory credit
    Store = $450 bonus trade
    So virtually even

The comparison is then EPP discount vs free accessory pack correct?

    • I'm getting only $100 credit for adding an accessory

      • +2

$100 is if you are purchasing the s22
        s22+ is $150
        s22ultra is $200

        • Yes I probably should have specified Ultra!

        • So potentially for S22+ 256GB:
          $1319.20
          -$150 accessory bonus
          +$20 accessory
          -$200 trade-in

          = $989.20 ???

          • @vovka: Yep, your sums look correct from what i can see
