XFX Radeon RX 6800 XT Swft 319 Core 16GB Video Card $1649 + Shipping ($0 VIC/WA C&C) @ PLE Computers

600

Saw this deal come up in my emails. Card performance is roughly equivalent to RTX 3080 albeit without the bells and whistles of Nvidia such as Raytracing or DLSS (FSR is a thing, but limited games have it - example is Assetto Corsa Competizione)

  • I believe RTX3080 will drop to this price soon. Only $200 gap.

    • By then this will be cheaper still. The DLSS makes the 3080 $200 better.

Unless you're playing at native resolution, then no need for any upscaling tech. Eg this card can do 1440p 60fps fairly comfortably at native (depending on gsme/settings of course).

        • If you are playing at native resolution it means you already aren't using any upscaling tech…just saying

        • So this card still a better value compare to 3080?

    • Choice of card will come down to games played, anything XBOX/PS5 will typically favor AMD's hardware, you really have to look at the benchmarks and pick which titles you favour most.

I find the Nvidia cards dont do as well at lower resolutions but level up once you go 1440p and beyond.

bells and whistles of Nvidia such as Raytracing

AMD uses DXR, but I'm not how many games utilise it.

They also have Vulkan RT support these days, but the OP is confusing RTX and RT. Raytracing performance is on par with the RTX 20 series when comparing CU vs SM, but 40-100% behind (average is probably 45% in games) when compared with the equivalent RTX 30 series cards.

The competitor to FSR is DLSS, and DLSS destroys FSR. Video encoder is also vastly superior on RTX 30.

Either way, prices still need to keep getting better, especially when 30% has been wiped off crypto and June looks to basically be the expiration date for Ethereum mining.

decent price for an in stock 6700 xt if you were to buy today

    • +1

If its in stock, yeah its a good price

    • good but I would still hold out, unless you buy on 28 degrees card but even then I think thats a risk

    • RRP $1400 lol

    • Not a great deal in my opinion. I paid 1130 after cashback last year during black friday for xfx qck version which has better cooling and noise level compared to other 6700 xt brands.

As per usual commenting, unless you are desperate for a card right now… wait.

A very clear downwards trend in all GPU pricing of late, and it's not changing any time soon.

For instance I'm waiting for an MSI Radeon RX 6800 XT.
Really wanted in early December, but was still over $2300.
Is now hovering around $1700… $600 in savings in just a couple months.

No reason why it won't be $1500 end of next month, and even cheaper come June.

If you think about the type of upgrades you could do to the rest of your PC with that amount of savings, it's a no-brainer to just wait 6 months.
Be patient. Your wallet will thank you, and buyers remorse won't be as great as the prices continue to fall throughout the year.

I have been using a 980 ti since 2015 it died 1 year ago and now all I have is a black screen my Cpu doesn't have integrated graphics. I have been using a old laptop all this time for general computing.

      It's very hard to hold.

      • So your CPU is 6 years old? If you can struggle with the old laptop a little longer, you can upgrade the rest of your PC for free with the price difference in GPU's between now and June :).

But yes…. very hard to keep holding I know.
I upgraded my whole pc, but am now using integrated Intel graphics in the new rig, just waiting for a nice new GPU.
If I can make it to June, I'll be happy to pull the trigger :).

        • No I upgraded my whole PC in December 2019 expect for my graphics card, spent about $1500. I thought I could hold a little longer for the 3000 series cards.

Now I have a $1500 Pc tower brick collecting dust for 1 year already.

Holding has become extra hard lately.

      • I'm still using GTX 660ti, and I'm still waiting, hoping to get a midrange card for $500 for my next upgrade.

  • Hopefully the SteamDeck is successful, it will encourage more devs to use FSR. Only way I can imagine next years games running ok

I have this exact card and its fantastic. Has been running everything that I throw at it at 150+FPS at 1440p for the past year.

    • Tried Cyberpunk 2077 or MSFS 2020 at High setting yet?

      • There're numerous side-by-side comparison videos on YouTube about this. Not much of a challenge. In fact no game has been a real challenge to 6800XT at 2K resolution.

        • -4

So you're saying a 6800XT can run both games at 2K, High setting at 150+FPS?

            • @WayneOZ: Yes, I have seen a number of YouTube benchmarks, but my question for Alistair79 is if he has tried running Cyberpunk 2077 and MSFS 2020 at 2K, High setting and getting the same 150+FPS like he has with other games?

should edit the description as it makes the card sound like it lacks those features when it has those features (AMD equivalent), yes it doesn't technically have RTX/DLSS however it has FSR (AMD's DLSS) and also has Ray Tracing, great card matches a 3080 and has more vram.

    • OP's description isn't wrong, AMD cards are great for what they are but FSR just does not compete with DLSS, and raytracing performance is worse as well.

When you have a 6800 XT, you'll most likely be running games at native res without raytracing.

      • FSR works fine, Guardians of the Galaxy just released FSR and my 6800XT runs 1440p all settings maxxed out including ultra ray tracing with acceptable FPS.

  • +1

For anyone interested, DLSS and FSR are awful in assetto corsa competizione no matter what card you have.

Great simulator but poorly optimised graphics engine.

  • Price has gone back up to $1799 now as of 2022-02-06 14:37
