  • bikies!

  • Really good price, includes lights too. Noice. Barrpppppppp

  • I wonder how much space is between the end of the handlebars and the tow hitch receiver? Like will there be enough room to use this on an SUV without the handlebars touching the glass?

    • This aldi motorbike carrier is just a rebranded MoTow. More details here - https://www.motow.com.au/mo-tow-1.9m-motocross-motorcycle-bi…

      • Source? Find that hard to believe, pricing includes lights too.

        • Source: The description wording on the mo-tow website is word for word, the same as the aldi site. The specs, carrying capacity and dimensions are exactly the same. Looking at the image on the paper brochure, you can see that they're identical in appearance. Both have the same unique 'anti-tilt bracket', that is different to anything else I've seen on other carriers.

The motow.com.au website states that they're designed by them, but these racks are also available overseas, and are made in china, so aldi would have put a large order in, and acquired them for a good price.

This one is better value than the motow as it has the lights, plus turn buckle footpeg tie-downs, and as long as you can find one at your local store, you'll save on shipping that applies to motow purchases.

  • Are open tow hitch receivers no longer ADR approved for towing (unlike America)?
It seems all vehicles must now have a fixed towball & neck to the tow bar

    • +1

      Who told you that?

    • +1

      Absolutely not.

    • OEM models might be doing this because it's cheaper than a Hayman Reese style receiver.

Certainly not an approval issue - those smaller brackets won't be rated for, say, a 2.5 ton caravan anyway, which then dicates that big receivers are perfectly fine.

      • Maybe simply connecting the tongue with towball using a 'L' hitch pin doesn't make it compliant (even on 2" throat)?

        • +1

Have you got any info on this noncompliance? Where did you read it?

Still not sure what you mean exactly. My tongue is only attached via a pin to the receiver, not bolted in or anything

perfect for landrover owners when it breaks down they ride bike home

    • Someone never watched "The Bush Tucker Man"

      • yes i know who Les Hiddens poor bastard, had to drive landrover haha
but my father owned a few years ago.
back axles break, need a strap to keep in gear.
Almost forgot lucas electric prince of darkness.
they invented dimming dash lights and intermittent wipers.
        Modern ones havent improved.
My 75 series has it issues, not as bad as landrovers

"Vehicles not included" kills the deal.
