    Hi OP,
    Any deals Brisbane-Mumbai?

    • Going to stock up some spices for the curry skomo?

  • -1

Not as cheap. Best I can find atm is $924 with Malaysia Airlines but limited dates and not so great transit times through Kuala Lumpur. Here is an example
    https://flights.flightfinderau.com/flight.ashx?&oc=BNE&dc=BO…

    • +1

Thanks, I will stay away from Malaysia Airlines.
Do you know if when Singapore Airlines will commence operating to India-Australia?

      • +1

They just resumed flights to Brisbane with the recent border reopening. Flights with them are not as cheap - over $1k atm.

      • +2

        NO … Malaysia Airlines.
I had books Brisbane to Mumbai in 2020 and it keep changing and canceling and I am paying difference. My mistake was I booked through travel agent.

    • +1

Has Malaysia Airlines started operating in this sector already? I know they didn't have any flights for months. Do you know when they will have flights schedules (i.e. flight numbers) back to normal?

      • Malaysia Airlines have resumed flights to Brisbane since the reopening of QLD borders to international flights. But the frequency is low. Best guess is when all quarantine restrictions are removed for those that arrive in Australia and demand picks up again - who knows when that will happen? Maybe towards the end of the year?

  • Hey OP.. any deals for Brisbane to Delhi around Easter, preferred dates 15-26 April, 1 adult. Many thanks in advance.

  • +3

Cheaper to travel to India via Colombo than just Colombo return

    • +2

Usually the case with most airlines. However you can a nice side trip to India if you like with this :)

    • Skipgate ? ;-)

      • You could! But you run the risk of the airline cancelling your return leg

        • +1

Yes, I had this problem with Malaysian Airlines. If you booked it as two one way flights, do you know if they would/could cancel the other booking?

By the way, great flight deals, but I’ll hold off until COVID is more settled

          • @BigBirdy: Thanks mate. Hopefully it settles very soon!

      • I wouldn't. Did it with Air Asia, after confirming with them over chat that I could, and they still cancelled my return leg (which was the one to Australia), refused to refund me and left me with no option but to buy an extremely expensive one way ticket after an unexpected six hour wait at the airport. Never again.

  • +1

Anydeal on Boston and LAX ? :(

    • +1

Hey mate. Happy to have a look for you, let me know your dates :)

  • any deals for sydney mumbai sydney

    • Which dates are you interested in. Happy to have a look for you :)

  • Are these Flexi tickets?

    • No they are not unfortunatley. Charges will apply for user-requested flight changes etc

  • Plan to go during Diwali time OCT22. Any feedback on SL airlines?

    • +1

I had the opposite experience to the comment below, I flew with them in 2019 (pre pandemic obviously) and they were great. Their business product on the A330 is quite nice, good service and on time for both flights. You get OneWorld rewards too. The airport is fine to fly in to as a tourist but not much to do if you're on transit.

    • +1

Plenty has been said on Sri Lankan Airlines below! My experience is they are ok - planes are dated but safe, service is good and food is very good (if you like Indian/Sri Lankan food etc). I would have them a bit better than Air India but below Singapore Airlines etc. If the transit times in Colombo are short (1-2 hours), I think its a non-issue really.

Regarding flights in October. I had a quick look and Malaysian and Thai come in at the cheapest ($870-900), but Malaysian have the best connecting times.

  • They say you only fly Sri Lankan airlines once, and I would agree

    • +2

      100% it's an awful experience

      • +1

The worst I have ever experienced,
And if going through Columbo, it’s not an airport you want to spend any time in

    • They also say UL - Usually Late!

Colombo Airport is expected of any third-world country really (though some of the new Indian airports are very nice). As I mentioned earlier if the transit times are short (1-2 hrs), it's a non-issue really.

Incidentally, they are building a new terminal (funded by the Chinese), so hopefully things improve!

      • Hopefully, it won't be like the new seaport built there by Chinese money, no one really uses it, except China

Mumbai/Bangalore is well designed/nice looking - yet do still have operational issues - security process is horribly inefficient

        • Same goes for the airport down at Hambantota, that has become a white elephant. Corruption at its finest.

      • +2

Terminal 2 is funded by the Japanese and being built by a Japanese construction company last time I heard about it.

        • Sorry, you are correct! Surprising given how much Chinese involvement is happening in Sri Lanka currently.

      • +2

India is not a third world country.

        • -2

Ooh, we could start another long debate here!

          • +2

@flightfinderau: It's a fact, not a matter for debate but, happy to burst your bubble.

            • @Sphynx: No need. There is arguments for and arguments against. This is probably not the place to debate it. Leave it at that :)

  • Any idea if Emirates will be running any specials soon?

    • In my experience Emirates dont run specials very often and when they do, they are hardly specials. But I am always looking :)

  • +3

What is international travel? Can't even travel domestically here in WA :(

  • -4

Are these countries safe to travel but. How are they fairing the pandemic atm?

    • +9

I mean.. we had 100k cases in a day not too long ago here.

    • Not delta again….

  • is it a rain season there in Aug?

  • Any good deals MEL - Colombo in April?

    • +1

I had a quick look. Singapore Airlines comes in at the cheapest - ranges between $920-$980. Transit times through Singapore vary however.

  • I am sure all commercial flight will be open in 1-2 months from india. Hold it for a while if u can…

    • Hopefully from Australia too!

    • +6

The USA is also facing a huge economic crisis right now. Daily power cuts in the mid west, many living below the poverty line. Are you also avoiding Delta, AA and United?

      • -3

Are people trying to defend countries over giving genuine advise? I know it be more dangerous for women to go to these countries alone

        • +3

          Are we for equality?

        • +4

No I think the point is more the incorrect use of the neg (which looks like it has been revoked). He should then neg all airlines from the USA because of their huge economic crisis as well right? (which from his comment history it doesn't look like he has)

Similarly you should neg all deals to the Canberra CBD given how dangerous it is for women their recently. Focus on the deal, not your biases.

          • @Dylan4: It's not an incorrect use, they are a crappy airline, planes are outdated, food is not great, even in business class

Columbo airport is 3rd world with not enough gates for planes, and need to take old buses out on the tarmac, get hassled in the toilets from 'employees' for tips

If we want to talk about incorrect use of downvotes, its you downvoting anyone who says bad about Sri Lanken airlines due to some nationalistic pride no doubt

            • +6

@thesainter: The deal is for a ticket to a number of South Asian destinations, not your pampered opinions on air travel.

              • -3

@poppingtags: With the deal price on Sri Lanken airlines not being a good deal, no matter how cheap

Some of us, don't just work in one location sweetie

                • +3

@thesainter: Some of us prefer getting to a destination faster, over being treated like a princess.

Do you have a better price for a direct flight to Sri Lanka? Didn't think so.

Don't really know how your work location factors into this - but then again you've gone on quite the ramble in the comments already.

                  • @poppingtags: How does a cheaper flight = getting there faster?
SL Air can barely meet basic service, and simply calling that out; does not = princess

Don't really know how your work location factors into this

The reason I know how bad they are as an airline, as I have lots to compare to.

Even the OP admits in a post how unreliable they are

Claiming that they "barely meet basic service" is a princess-tier exaggeration. The OP claimed they were a middle of the pack airline, but they do offer pretty good food, which is a more even-handed review.

The reason I know how bad they are as an airline, as I have lots to compare to

I've travelled extensively for business and pleasure, to every continent save for Antarctica and I would agree with OP's analysis of them being middle of the pack. If you think Sri Lankan is bottom of the pack, then you haven't travelled nearly as extensively as you think have sweetie.

I'll repeat my question, because you don't seem to have read it the first time:

Do you have a better price for a direct flight to Sri Lanka? Didn't think so.

Again, some of us don't have time to fluff around in airports - I place a premium on my time and will always choose direct if available.

More princess talk, did you type that with your pinky raised?

                    • @thesainter: Let me give you a history lesson…

UL refers to the previous airline of Sri Lanka. Air Lanka (was notiororiously known for delays) When the airline was rebranded into present day Sri Lankan (once Emirates took over), the IATA code remained. With Emirates management we saw huge improvements in reliability and service (food has always been excellent). It's no longer unreliable or second rate - period

I am Sri Lankan by descent and I go back regularly (so yes I am biased). I am willing to state I have probably flown Sri Lankan Airlines and Air Lanka more times than most here. For the price point in my opinion (they are considerably cheaper than SQ, CX, QF, EK), they offer excellent value and shouldn't be dismissed. I personally think Qantas international is overrated, but will probably get shot down by someone here!

It's no longer unreliable or second rate - period

                        Disagree from my experience
The cabins are tied and outdated looking
I had 5-6hrs of delays over 4 flights

I personally think Qantas international is overrated

Don't think the majority of people rate them high, to begin with, but still miles better than Sri Lanken Air

            • +5

@thesainter: Out of curiosity when did you fly with them? I flew with them in 2019 and had the complete opposite experience to you. We flew business though.

              Also have you travelled much?

              • -1

@ShatGPT: Nov/Dec last year, in business also

Yes I fly a decent amount; 221 days and 82 flights since 2018

                • +5

@thesainter: Seems from your post history you only do an annual pilgrimage to India. Makes sense now.

                  • @ShatGPT: Annual no, just lots of work-related trips in Asia pacific

The lack of service for the price was terrible, lack of priority boarding at check-in/gate, giving all the overhead space away
You get better economy service on other airlines

      • +6

@Dylan4: Sri Lankan airlines is a state run airline directly managed by the government. Emirates previously owned 40% of them but they pulled out due to meddling and corrupt practices of then president who was re-elected as the prime minister recently. He would often delay flights to suit schedules of him and his family members. Once one of these requests was denied by then country manager of Emiates and things got so ugly between him and Emirates and ultimately they pulled out of the deal. Even right now all the positions at the airline from ceo to the security personals are done by his government and reserved for people who helped him at the election. I don't know much about administration at Delta, AA or United but if things are similar I would avoid them too.

        • +2

I have never flown with them but by what you say I will stay away, Sainter appears to be correct!.

        • +2

and now his brother is in charge ;)

the Emirates involvement ended in 2003, which was a long time ago. Sadly corruption has reared its ugly head again and holding back the airline. Similar story to Air India, but now Tata have taken over I am thinking it may improve

    • +3

Sounds like fun to me, travel isn't worth it if you are going over seas to see more of a western lifestyle and environment

      • Hallelujah! A bit of roughing it out and some excitement often make the best travel stories :)

  • +1

Which airline offers me HD replays of how can she slap while I'm flying to the subcontinent - that will be my choice for sure.

    • +2

      You go

    • Try a Chinese one.

  • $901 return to Maldives

  • OP, any deals for Sydneysiders?

    • Happy to look for you, Let me know your dates and where you want to go

  • Can a NZ citizen travel to Sydney at the moment or not?
The advice on the government sites is confusing. If one has an NZ passport, is currently in LA and wants to come to Sydney (job opportunity) can they come in on a subclass TY-444 visa or not at the moment?

    • This is probably the wrong place to ask. Best ask a Dept of Home Affairs for that?

  • +2

Flew SriLankan air business Singapore to Europe via Colombo twice return before Covid. Soft product good, crew great, food good, hard product ok with lay flat beds on one return flight. Cost before they joined One World A$ 2300 return Europe to Singapore. Now probably more than double. Colombo airport old but acceptable. They are not SIA standard but who is. Worst flight ever Singapore to Brisbane economy QF.

    • +2

Well said. I have flown them a few times and they are solid. Qantas may have a new hard product but the catering and service on Sri Lankan is much better in my opinion.

  • Hi OP,
Is there any deal for SYD to Colombo - Return in April 2022? 4 x passengers? Thanks.
