  • Is this card any good for new games at 60 fps 1080p? I can mainly see laptop version reviews

Really bad value comapred to this 6600xt deal from bpctech for the same price

Free feel to disagree, and i know that one is sold out.

    • Yeah the 6600XT is in between a 3060 and 3060Ti which shits on a 3050.

    • +7

Yes, and there's a new slightly worse (but in stock at time of typing) 6600xt deal which is still better than a 3050

      • I cant tell what did they actually swap apart from the mobo?

          Intel 10400 vs Ryzen 5 3600
          2666mhz vs 3200mhz memory
          B560 mATX vs A520 ATX

          I'd take the 6600XT over the 3050 10 times out of 10

Slightly slower ram vs the previous 6600xt deal

Hopefully will see close to $1k prebuilt with an acceptable GPU soon when prices start to come down.

This is like around the same power as a 1070 for around the same price as a 1070…nearly 6 years ago.

    This market is f'd.

    • Nothing new over the last 2 years haha

  • if you want a dedicated streaming only pc that only streams and records all you need to do is put a capture card in this thing and it will capture you gaming PC

  • Is it good for SteamVR and Airlink with Oculus Quest 2 for general VR gaming?

    • +1

this just makes the cut. it won't be the best experience but it will be decent. and airlink requies a decent wifi 6 access point.

      • requires a decent wifi 6 access point

I've been using just an old WiFi5 5ghz dedicated modem for air link and had no issues running it at almost max speed. Definitely don't need WiFi 6.

    • I use a gtx1070 (similar performance to the rtx3050) for vr and it's fine, although of course I'd like to upgrade. If you use virtual desktop it has clever trickery to double the frame rate using the headset rather than the pc, which works extremely well. MSFS med-high settings at 20fps doubled to 40fps looks pretty damn fine

I think you need to elaborate why.

      • +1

Not OP, but the biggest issue is that the graphics card is really not strong enough, even if it's targeted at the budget gamer. If you're paying $1300 and want to game, this will only just barely cut it.

        • +1

I get the logic but as a comparison, I think its a fair price to get someone's foot in the door to start their gaming journey as compared to other similarly specced rigs.

@nedski: True, if this machine is for a young primary school kid to start his gaming experience, and without a rich daddy/mummy, then this will be a good start.

        • A budget gamer would only be playing at 1080p, and for everything I have seen benchmarked, it is able to do 60fps without issues on high settings.

If I was in the market for a new PC, I'd probably scoop this one up personally (another 6-12 months until I'll buy unless these specs drop under 1K), as I don't currently have a 4K, or even 2K monitor, and 3070 or higher is more than this entire PC, which is insane to me…

    The RX6600 build is a much better option. RX6600 > RTX3050

  • This deal is so backward.

  • I think around $1100 maybe even up to near $1200 might be the sweet spot for this build, hopefully they can get it a bit lower for entry gamers. With 3050's actually selling so high by themselves i do get why they are asking the $1299 though but the 6600xt was just so much better value.
