      Why neg me

      I am telling the true…

      • Cos even the people that know you are sort of right hate the fact thats the case? lol
Just like USB3 included every connector and speed that came before.

I wish Wikipedia is the one can name it.
Sadly it doesn't have right to name HMDI
          Which means Wikipedia is WRONG

  • Wrong pricing? Shows AU$235 for 60 and below, $263 for 60 to 90 inches & $277 for 90 to 120 inches respectively.

    • Prices change once added to cart but still not what’s advertised in this post

      • Mines showing $129 USD with free shipping

        • Same. I noticed if you have two in cart the discount differs

  • That’s a lot cheaper than the Philips kit for $1k.. anyone recommend this?

    • +1

Yep. Despite having a house full of Hue lights, I balked at the cost of the Sync and the lightstrip.

Really happy I got the lytmi. It's not perfect (wish I could change the white balance just a touch, and the sticky pads could be better at holding up the weight of the lightstrip) but really for the price it's pretty damn good.

      Highly recommended!

        Thank you

Thats my main issue as well. The light strip kept falling off. Had to get extra 3M sticky tape from Bunnings.

        • Same - seems to be holding so far

That spin thing gave me a code 7SQTW3XM7ABC
    supposedly 5% off.

  • Price for 61 to 90-inch strip is 149 USD about 208 AUD
    Plus any foreign exchange fees.

  • The 120" strip fell short of my screen when I tried to install it.

It has a latency issue if you don’t mind. https://youtu.be/0MDJuphofts

    • What speed/sensitivity do you have it set on?

I have it on normal and don't really see that much of sync delay.

    • If this is normal this is an absolute showstopper.

    • +1

Yep, this is what I get too on all 3 sensitivity settings. Disappointing…

If you're handy with raspberry pi's then I suggest you build your own.

It cost me just over $100 in parts for my 65"; I'm using HyperHDR as the software.

Works for everything except 120Hz 4K HDR but that's because I don't have HDMI 2.1 support on my hardware.

    • +1

Do you have a link to the guides you may have followed? Or the LED strip you purchased?

      Thanks

      • Search for Hyperion Ambilight, plenty of Youtube videos and explanations.

  • If you do a lot of DolbyVision don't bother. Also I don't know what it does to the HDMI signals but the output will have artifacts on high bitrate contents.

The light strips are fairly heavy so replace the default tape with something stronger else they'll just fall off after few days.

    • Hadn't noticed either of those problems, but then I have my Lytmi connected to the 2nd HDMI output on my denon amp (ie. it's in parallel with the output to TV, rather than inline with)

      • Yea their "solution" for now is to ship HDMI splitter for people who are affected but if anyone is relying on signal out then they'll not have the best experience

  • Does anyone know how to get the backlight sync with TV signals? Thanks..

  • Just a question for those that own this, I saw on the forum some people needed to get a splitter for the Dolby vision, is that right? Does it work well otherwise with hdr and are the colours bright or are they faded? Tia

    • Best to use with splitter for any high bitrate (HDR/DV) content as the output from lytmi is terrible. I was seeing artifacts on 4k HDR contents too.

  • Does this work with normal tv that has google tv built in? Or does it need to come from an input like PlayStation or chromecast etc?

    • +1

It "needs to come from an input" - it works with anything that uses HDMI.

If you want to watch TV with light sync, you'll need an external TV box like the Fetch Mighty as above https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11686010/redir

      • Guess I could just use my CCWGTV

I don't normally write long posts, but I thought this may be helpful to someone, since it took me a while to figure things out myself….

So, I got this during the previous offer for AU$210 and have been using it for over 3 weeks now (took almost a month to arrive). I have an Apple TV 4K going to Lytmi and then to a 2020 65" TLC TV (Dolby Atmos + Dolby Vision). I use a Sonos Arc for sound, thus have that connected to the HDMI 1 on the TV, which is the one that offers ARC/CEC. Lytmi is connected to HDMI 2.

A couple of issues, listed in the order of annoyance (to me):

    1) Unlike what is shown on the little manual that comes with it, if your TV is over 50" the light strip cannot be placed close to the edge of the TV. You've got to fiddle around to find where to install it in order to avoid either a gap between the 2 strips or them overlapping (they don't provide a single light strip, but rather 2, with each being connected separately via USB to the Lytmi control box). I thought they sent me the wrong size, so I emailed them and they suggested I do that. Btw, I don't know why would anyone pick a company name nowadays, if they can't own the same name website (correct website to contact them: www.iLytmi.com)

    2) As stated above, the sticky tape only lasted for a week (it's supposed to be 3M brand, but I'm not convinced). I just used some hot glue and problem is solved.

    3) There is some latency, which is annoying and even distracting. There are 3 levels of sensitivity that you can pick via the app, but latency is equally annoying on all. I now have it on Low and have dropped brightness to 20%. I hope they release some sort of an update to fix this!

    4) When navigating on Apple TV, if you click the Home button or simply go back a level (either to the main menu or even say from a series episode to the main series page) it turns the TV to a different HDMI input (in my case, it turns to HDMI 1, which is also the only HDMI with ARC/CEC). Since I have the Sonos Arc connected to that input, I get a black screen with some white lines. I then need to use the TV remote to manually switch inputs (HDMI 2, where Lytmi is). EXTREMELY ANNOYING!!!
I have tried everything…turning off and on the Lytmi box, the Lytmi app, the Apple TV, the TV, unplugging and plugging in the Lytmi, the Apple TV, the Sonos Arc, plugging in the Lytmi to other HDMI inputs. I even tried using a HDMI splitter, but made no difference.
Surprisingly, last week happened to be a good one: Although it didn't change inputs, it would show the grey screen you get when you have nothing connected to the HDMI input you're using, for approximately 1sec, before moving on to wherever I wanted it to go. It would also do the same before starting to play an episode or a movie. Mind you this happened with all streaming apps (including Plex) and also that the Apple TV is updated to the latest OS. However, since I turned Lytmi off via the Lytmi app the other night, the problem is back. Again, I hope they release a fix for this soon!

Sorry, negative vote from me until the above get fixed…

Does your tv have optical out and can you connect the Sonos that way? Leaving the HDMI for the Lytmi?

      • Thanks for the suggestion. The TV does. The Sonos Arc doesn't, but they give you a HDMI to optical adaptor I could use. However, I'm not sure if I'd be able to control the Sonos volume that way. I may check it out…

        • +1

No problem. Was just a thought. Good luck!

          • @wikiwiki: So this worked but I can’t control Sonos ☹️ The Apple TV remote adjusts the TV volume.

            • +1

@autocader: You can set the apple tv remote to control your soundbar in the settings instead of your TV volume. I did this on mine and it works flawlessly

              • @winstonst08: Thanks for that! You are right. I had to do it from within the Apple TV’s menu rather than the Sonos. It works fine now. It took a couple of more hours of research and trial and error to figure out how to get rid of the mute icon from the screen (plug something into the headphones output - it doesn’t need to be headphones, I used a 3.5mm to 6.35mm adapter). All set now 😊 I just hope it doesn’t affect getting Atmos out of it…because that’d be a deal breaker.

Latency is still an issue though.

                • @autocader: Update: So the sound has now changed from Atmos to “Dolby Digital Plus 5.1”. Apparently, that’s what you get if you connect the Sonos optically rather than through an ARC/CEC HDMI - not happy. Didn’t pay so much money to not use it.

I went back to connecting the Sonos to HDMI 1 and I’m trying a different splitter to connect Apple TV & Lytmi to HDMI 2. No issues so far with it switching inputs when going back on the menu. However, just like with the optical connection, thie too only gives Dolby Digital. Interestingly, when using only one output to send signal to the TV (i.e. not connect Lytmi to the 2nd splitter output), I get Atmos. I wonder if the problem is fixed if I use a different splitter. There are some on Amazon that say they support Atmos but they’re pricey. Any suggestions?

                  • @autocader: Update: the issue of switching to HDMI 1 when going back on Apple TV menu is back!

    • +1

Yea turned out you get what you paid for. I just threw it after 1 day of use as returning it was another nightmare. There's a reason why philips one costs what it costs and all their issues seems to be hardware limiation so no magical firmware fix
