4.8 star rating In a website full of schills

Wow! ProductReview.com.au is full of schills? Would you care to provide some evidence to support your assertion?

    • Yes I think so. See my comment below.

  • I have one in my home office currently and highly rate them. They ramp up the fan automatically when they sense strong odours or dust. I noticed a difference in the room when I forgot to turn it on one morning.

    • Nothing on the market has a reliable sensor because a good sensor would be prohibitively expensive. You're better off running these things on manual as high as you can manage the noise, and turning it off if there's nothing you want filtered. The auto settings are useless.

Can anyone speak to the difference between this and the similar Breville one? My main concern is the cost of replacing the filters. I think the difference is around about +$30 more.

Probably not a massive issue but over its lifespan it might be significant.

The cost is in filters, went to buy one these (different company) the guy at the shops did advise to replace filters every 3-4 months .
And we all know HEPA filters are not that cheap!!
So the ongoing filter cost is an issue with these gadgets!

      • Wowsers that guy is having a lend surely. Aren’t HEPA filters 6 or 12 months (if prefilter)?

      • Filters can be cleaned to extend their life and it also depends on how often you use it and how often the air is dirty, meaning you can get 6-12 months out of a single filter. The 3-4 month thing is just to increase sales and nothing more.

      • Yer that's simply not true. The Aus distributor mentions 12 months of continous use which I'd imagine is for standard environments. See the below inset.

        AUS-0850AAPU
(start-up filters included for approx. 1 yr continuous use - this may be reduced during extreme-smoke-use)

    • im guessing you are refering to the breville the smart air one? if that's the case just be aware that breville air purififer has very low CADR, the smart air has 169³/h. The recommended for best range is 300+ however if you are planning to use it in a smaller room that already have relatively clean air then the breville one might be fine.
