How's the reviews on this item?
I no longer trust this site. They've rated a few V shapes head sets I've gotten as neutral.
Just had a quick look, "mixed" is the best way to sum them up.
Lots of positive reviews, most focus on the price point and value for money though. Main conplaints are build quality, battery life and comfort. And looks like a few people have had problems with them, eg. they've broken with regular use.
My interpretation is if you're just after some cheap but decent headphones these will do the job, but they're not going to compete with higher-end Sony, Bose etc versions.
Thanks for the feedback.
Pleasure :)
Battery life on these is actually fantastic, no idea where those complaints are coming from.
There's one below where they say it drains quickly even when they haven't been used. And I also found some others that claim you don't get near the hours quoted. I haven't used these myself so am only passing on what I've read. Perhaps these are just isolated incidents, fault with that set or something…
I had the noise cancelling upgrade of these (back beat go 810) and while he headphones IMO were great, the headband was a piece of crap that broke in warranty and was a pain to return for a refund due to crap officeworks staff. Didn't want a replacement cos the headband was so poor it was bound to happen again
flimsy build
Got these last year, good for the price, sound quality is good, they are made of cheap plastic but mine held up okay after 6 months of daily use for work. Almost no passive sound isolation though.
I got these for the kids to use in June 2021 for $35 from the same seller (Harris Technology on Amazon). As cheap Bluetooth headphones they’ve been great. Still going strong, haven’t managed to break them, kids have no trouble connecting them and there’s been no complaints (from the kids).
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/628320second this bought 3 for kids to deal with remote learning still working fine. Kids always forget to turn off but doesn't seem battery are drain when not in use. Sound wise nothing to write home but I observe it to be clear and serviceable (I am a keen audiophile with HD800S / different HiFi setups)
Got them on a deal last year.
They sound good and have the option of using a cable if the battery is flat. build is nice. Pairs to two devices at once so handy for calls.
Earcups are sweaty.
the battery seems to drain even while switched off over the course of a week or so. I've found them dead many times when wanting to use them as I prefer TWS when out and about. I use these mostly for WFH calls at home and music and as long as I remember to charge them I have been happy.
You may have a faulty set if battery is draining like that, we have 2 sets from a deal from a while back and both reliably go to sleep after being idle for a while, have left them for days at a time in this state with no issues.
Maybe? mine will stay connected overnight without going to sleep/power save (for my iphone at least) but the computer goes to sleep after 1hr so disconnects.
could also be that i have left them on a few times. im not entirely sure. I keep them charged now so they are ready not a huge problem.
Earcups are sweaty
Mom's spaghetti
He's nervous, but on the surface
I’d spend a bit more for the TaoTronics. Was just $50 on Amazon, currently about $60. Brand name is FAKEME since they got banned from Amazon.
Have tried both, and the TaoTronics sound better, and have BlueTooth 5 / aptX / noise cancelling. I have the 085, think these FAKEME listings are the 090.
Why did Taotronics get banned from Amazon?
You can google it but they basically sent free stuff to people to change their poor reviews.
At least they're not lying about their name now! Lol
@mandelbrot: The stupid part is, they actually made some pretty good stuff. Maybe not Name Brand level, but much better quality than the sea of rubbish quality cheap Chinese electronics.
@Kangal: Agree! I've bought a few of their stuff
FAKEME…. sounds like they are too tired to rebrand properly
Does the TaoTronics allow muting the microphone by pressing some button?
I have the BH079 earphones from them - no complaint at all with the price I paid (<$20). The only problem is there's no way to mute the microphone without touching the phone/laptop.
I missed these (OOS) last time these were a deal. I kept reviewing different headphones and then looking at the price to see how much more would get me nicer headphones.
I now own the Sony XM4’s!Wow, that's quite a jump.
Haha, just like was looking for a bike, drove home a Bentley…
Drove home?? Peasant.
I flew home
im looking for one to use with my computer. i have a rode mic i use already, and want headphones without the mic coming out of the headphones. will these work?
These have a mic
the mic that im talking about is the one that sticks out and goes up your nose or in your mouth.
the mic is just built into the ear piece
Should be fine. I have a similar setup but with a Mac with Bluetooth headphones.
I have an older generation of the plantronics so am commenting on this basis.
In short don’t expect them to compete on sound quality with the more expensive Sony and Bose. If you’re a sound connoisseur you’ll be disappointed. If you’re after an entry level/cheap pair of cans then these will be great.
I used few plantronics products including backbeat pro 2. I actually love the sound of them compared to qc35 and 1000xm3 default sound signature.
Those Amazon reviews don't look promising. It can snap and the cups can bee seen coming off. But again you are not paying much.
Been actually using these for gaming with my Acer Nitro 5. They are actually not too bad lol.
At the end of the day, you get what you pay for.
Price is now showing as $46.30
OP did not highlight, but these can connect to multple devices. Many headphones including sony xm3s cannot do it. These do it at dirt cheap price.
Yep, price gone up now. By the way. We've had the 500s model (on ear), and have two pairs headband break( after about 18 months). Not very durable .
For anyone interested this is Bluetooth 4.1 (HFP 1.6, HSP 1.2, A2DP v1.2, AVRCP v1.4)
