Somebody gonna get a hurt real bad for posting godaddy deals

  • -1

omg omg omg gonna get me one

  • +27

Uh really? Please read one of the many websites created to stop people from hosting with godaddy ie. http://antigodaddy.com/ before you buy.

Sorry but past experience (and the experience of many others) is cause enough for a neg

    • +1

accidentally negged you, meant to +!

      • +3

I'll help to balance it :D

        • +2

          me too

        • Wow 23+ and I thought people were going to downvote me to oblivion, most successful comment on ozbargain yet!

      • +6

Nice try, Godaddy. You created an account just to make this crappy post. Your description was not taken from any other site, so you made it yourself, and it looks incredibly suspicious. Normal people don't write like that and they don't try and sell a bargain as if they're getting paid for it. They just go 'looks pretty cheap guys' or something.

        Reported.

  • +9

Sounds cheap, but SOPA left a bad taste in everyones mouth.
And not sure I approve of their pussycat porn adverts on skynews.

    • -1

Register the domain, then transfer it :D

      • Exactly…

      • +1

But you have to wait 3 months before you can transfer it.

        • -4

You don't expect your domain to be taken down via SOPA within the first 3 months?

  • Time to get more domains?
Anyone want to give me ideas? :p

  • +3

    No thanks.

  • +7

    Never ever ever.

  • +8

    don't support godaddy

    • -1

Support them with your $2, then transfer out after 3 months :D

  • +9

Their support of SOPA should mean no support from customers.

  • +1

Whats a better alternative from godaddy?

    • +8

http://namecheap.com is the best. I've used them for 5+ years, never had any problems.

    • +2

I moved my domains to Namecheap - they seem to do a good job so far. Just one more domain to move to get out of GoDaddy completely.

If only some of these global companies did .au domains so I wouldn't have to keep track of multiple companies.

  • dumb how its credit card only

  • +1

    Godaddy? really?

  • -8

I really dont't see why people are downvoting this. Their support of SOPA aside, it is a very good deal, and this website is all about good deals.

    • +2

Who cares that Hitler massacred 6 million Jews. We got technological advancement, and that's all that matters.

    • +1

Godaddy also have a reputation for poor customer service.

I once tried (unsuccessfully) to get them to refund me for a domain they auto-renewed on me, even though I canceled and contacted them immediately I never got my refund.

Worst part was the renew was at 5x the cost of the original domain, a domain I only needed for a couple of months for an event.

  • +5

Previous SOPA support .. and below average customer support gets a neg from me.

  • +2

Godaddy is the hell spawn of domain providers. No thanks

  • +4

    Neg for SOPA support.

    • +2

      Also negging for SOPA support.
      Moved all my accounts away.

  • +4

No go, daddy… I mean no godaddy!

  • +2

Looking forward to negging future Sony, Coca Cola, News Corp, etc. deals in the basis of their SOPA support :)

  • Seems like ozbargainers are not as forgiving as SD'ers:)

  • I've used them for a long time. Buy of them then use your own or other hosting service.

  • Well this is timely.

  • +2

pay peanuts get monkeys. (who also support sopa)

  • GoDaddy - they support SOPA, right? I wonder whether they also participate in various information interception programs run by the US government?

    Just sayin'.

  • As a service, I've found GoDaddy really great. Their iPhone & iPad apps make buying & renewing domains very quick & easy. I've used them for years with dozens of domains without ever having a single problem.

As a business, well that's a different thing altogether.

So like Nomadian I'd love to hear what registrars OzB'ers use & why. Thanks.
