      I mean I know heaps of people travelling. Staying away from the spicy cough is another matter. I really don't want to be caught out needing a hopsital out of Australia.

        If immunised then hospitalisation rate is still very low. Omicron while mild seems to be causing symptoms in most vaccinated people I know - fevers, aches, headache, fatigue for 3-4 days and then back to old selves.

        If I had any other significant risk factors (weight, immunocompromised, older) then I agree I would be avoiding travel.

        The other challenge is needing hospital for any reason, with COVID straining the whole system and things like a heart attack is not being managed with the same swiftness but that is evident in Australia at the moment. Everyone needs to decide how much of life is about time vs the experiences. I think lockdowns have shifted that balance over time.

        The challenge is if you get covid and test positive, regardless of symptoms, and can't board the plan till you complete the country's iso requirements and return a neg PCR (which for some people is months with shedding). Oh and then airlines (my experience with Qantas) telling you to call them if that happens but then not answering the phone, website down and no way to change your flight.

        they found a baby in the bathroom that someone had dumped in the international airport, so what they did was pull all the foreign women off the planes and then shove their fingers inside them all in the middle of the airport to feel around to see if they were the ones that had just given birth. all foreign women.
        These people are sick, imagine giving them money and taking that risk

            @Cookiescream: It wasn't random staff. It wasn't in the middle of the airport. It was in an ambulance on the tarmac, by nursing staff.

            Not saying that's any better.

                I was simply correcting the statement about location and staff; and for your benefit, I reiterate that it was in an ambulance, not on the tarmac itself.
                Implying there were random staff in the middle of the airport, conjures images of dropping drawers in front of the discount Winnie blues.
                That wasn't the case.

                As for dumb, I have both the capacity and capability of speech. But thank you for your concern.

                If you were attempting and inference on my intelligence, perhaps you should take a look at your own spelling/grammar, and level of comprehension.

          The only problem here was that it was NOT Qatar Airlines staff that did this, and other international airlines were involved.

          It was stated at the time that the women were examined by medical staff, but by which agency is still a mystery, presumably Hamad International Airport and the Qatari police.

          I am not excusing this horrific event, and like everyone else, I would like to see it resolved properly and transparently. Somehow I doubt that will happen. The Qataris probably hoped that after all this time the story would have disappear, but it recently resurfaced in the press here in Oz.

          That said, I suspect Qatar Airlines and its staff had no say in what happened, and were powerless in stopping this regrettable incident from trashing their reputation. What has surprised me, and left me wondering is Qatar's usually outspoken, and at times misogynistic CEO Akbar Al Baker. He's never short of anything to say and doesn't care who he offends. He was strangely silent on this matter. My money would be on the Qatari royal family telling him to shut his mouth and keep it shut.

          It is the government of Qatar that needs to step up and answer the questions, and it is to them you should direct your anger. And yes, I am fully aware Qatar Airlines is owned by the Qatari government.

          As one of the two best airlines (Singapore being the other), I have no problems flying with them. The staff have always treated me well, and looked after me on the flights I have taken with them as a passenger requiring boarding assistance etc.

            This is the kicker - your money supporting Qatar Airlines is going DIRECTLY into the government's pocket, but you petition their government for not standing up. They are the same entity, even if QA has a separate management structure. Al Baker reports to the government and serves the government.

            We would do the same to SIA, who are partly owned by the government via Temasek, if their government did the same thing. I would not usually catch private enterprises in the crossfire but if they are owned by the government that did such an action, then they deserve the same negative press as the government.

    Just tried a sample BNE-LHR-BNE in March.

    SQ was cheaper, and better connections.

    Oh and some human rights issues on QA…

    To me it seems to be there usual published price…where i have found no discount in the prices from last week at all…So I think its just some specific routes where there is some reduced prices but not all the routes
