Came across this while browsing their sale items, not as cheap as it has been before (sub $160) but if you need something now it's not horrible value.

5400 rpm & SMR
5400rpm is good for NAS but SMR bad :(
I kinda feel like SMR needs alternative branding instead of just a general "HDD". these really aren't suitable for general purpose use for a lot of people I've spoken to that have used them.
Anyone have any issues with these formatting in a external SATA caddy (first)? Won't show 8tb format directly hooked up to my PC's SATA ports though only shows 8tb through USB using caddy,. otherwise only shows 2 partitions first 2tb,..
This is my first over 2TB hard drive
Are you formatting it and selecting GPT as the disk partition type? If you select MBR it won't show more than 2Tb, need to use GPT for that.
That's the first time I heard MBR cannot show anything more than 2tb
That could have been my mistake (as first timer using over 2TBs HD) but I can not reverse the mistake to work with my PC's SATA ports, I've tried everything,. maybe also the caddy is very old before over 2tb hard drives existed maybe messed format up,.. Anyway works fine in my caddy and have no choice now as 7tb of my stuff is stored in it and can't backup elsewhere,..
So for others yes something to do with initialized by using GPT for over 2tb hard drives more info below link,. anyway my suggestion anyone buying one of these is to hook directly first to one's PC SATA ports then mess around with a caddy afterwards,. (unless I have a faulty drive) more info link below,.
