On sale is the XiaoXin Pad Plus that's cheaper than the previous deal and a sidegrade of the XiaoXin Pad Pro 2020 you can get from adr8's deal here.

The main difference is that that this has an upgraded Snapdragon 750G CPU and Adreno 619 GPU offering better performance. It uses an 11" IPS panel instead of a pentile OLED panel so it won't have the issue of blurry text up close (some say it's not noticeable) like in the Pro 2020 and Pro 2021 tablets. The battery has also been decreased from 8400mAh to 7700mAh.

Besides those changes the tablet is still good value and provides excellent performance for the price.

Other features include Android 11 with Google Play, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage (expandable), 11" 2000x1200 TDDI IPS Display with 400nits brightness, 7700mAh battery withn QC3.0 charging and 4 JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos. For Netflix the tablet has Widevine L1 DRM, however you must install a new Netflix apk file manually on the tablet (same with other XiaoXin tablets) to get FHD.

Oh man how do I decide! Awesome posts to all the tablet posting users!

  • +2

I just bought this one and got tracking notification from SG. Let's see if they will approve this after 6 weeks.

    • Will it track even if it's not affiliated?

      • I got tracking notification on SG app after I bought it.

    • How do I find this specific one in SG app? Doesn't come up when I search.

      • It's there when I was searching for it.

        • Really? I can't see it at all.
If you search it now, can you see it again?

          • @gembel: You can follow the store first. Then search inside the store by using SG APP. That way you can find the product.

    • I do not think SG is a honest company, I have only about 20% SG back in all my shopping experience with them, and approved SG can not be transfered to your wallet too, forget about SG, I am using Shopback now for some certain reward.

      • Until shop back fail to track yours then you will post the same paragraph with sg word changed to shopback hehehe….

      • What do you mean by "approved SG can not be transfered to your wallet"?
Has it never worked for you? I heard that they do close withdrawals when there is too many, but they eventually open up again.
Is this not the case for you? How long have you been using SG?

  • Whats better for gaming, the Lenovo XiaoXin Pad Pro 2021 (Tab P11 Pro 2021) or Xiaomi Pad 5?

    • -1

you better ask in the pro thread as this one is not even pro.. just plus

  • +4

This one can be crossflashed to the Lenovo P11 5G global rom too ;)

    • +1

Do you have a link for that ROM? I believe that's what sellers are flashing.

      • +5

Sellers have some jerry rigged "pseudo global" firmware, main drawback (assuming you are fine with using the altered firmware) is because its jerry rigged you can't update it. I think you can also request stock China rom from the sellers.

Link to P11 5G roms (and other Lenovo roms if you browse around) - https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/lenovo/Tab_P11_5G/TB-J6…
However - this doesn't help much as it doesn't seem like the P11 5G rom files are packaged to be flashable with QFIL - meaning you need to use Lenovo Rescue and Smart Assistant to "recover" the tablet rather than using QFIL to manually flash

Process of converting it to global firmware, broadly, is
        a) Change region from China/undefined to global (with the pesudo global firmware mine was already set to global region).
        https://www.ppomppu.co.kr/zboard/view.php?id=androidtab&page…

        2) Using Lenovo Rescue Assistant in rescue mode, setting it to P11 5G

Note: It didn't work for me on windows 10 - I had to use a windows 7 machine to get it working.

Step by step here (google translate is your friend) - https://4pda.to/forum/index.php?showtopic=1035371&st=700#ent…

    • You mean you can flash the 5G rom so a sim card would work?

      • +1

There's no SIM card in this. Rather the P11 5G is a global release tablet so it'd have official global firmware.

    • how do you flash it to the global rom?
assume that would allow for newer versions of android,
these come with a super old version

  • hmmm how big the difference between this and the Tab P11 Pro 2020 ? just the screen ie IPS vs OLED.
noticeable much ? for everything else but not gaming

    • Do you have a phone that has an OLED screen? If yes, try it out and see if you much prefer OLED. Is HDR important to you?

  • Not sure what is better for manga/comics and general media consumption. This or the Pad 5 or the P11 Pro for the screen size increase + OLED for media.

Having such a hard time deciding.

    • +2

My personal opinion is that the Xiaomi Pad 5 is the best, followed by the P11 Pro 2020 and then the Pad Plus.

  • It doesn't come up on SG app when I search this item. How do I find it?

  • Does this or Xiaomi's Pad 5 have the capability to write notes using pen like iPad/ iPad Pro? Unfortunately, I didn't see any mention of this online.

    • +1

Xiaomi Pad 5 has a "Smart Pen" and seems there are videos of stylus support like this. Not a great deal of Plus reviews yet so it might be the same as the Pro.

      • +1

I ordered my p11 plus with a pen from another seller

      • Thanks mate.. Appreciate it

  • Please put instructions how to find this item on SG. It doesn't show up when you search for it.

  • Tossing between this and Xiaomi Pad 5 for reading ebooks and streaming media files from my local network. This is $188 cheaper and has an SD card slot. The Xiaomi Pad 5 has a 120Hz screen and better specs but that's probably not relevant for such a light use case. I'm leaning towards this.

How impactful are software updates? I haven't installed a custom rom in years.

  • Basically zero software support from manufacturer or the modding community with this tablet correct?

So it's destined to be android 11 for life I assume. At best android 12 for life if they decided to throw a bone and do one update…

  • Clear, does this play Netflix in Full HD currently (Widevine L1?) Been reading some users losing widevine L1

    • +1

It will, in this current moment in time… But one thing I have found with my Pixel C (Google's own "premium" tablet!") Is google can revoke widevine at any time!

I'm assuming once the chips are no longer supported or something so their security can no longer be guaranteed for DRM. If google will do it to their own tablet they'll do it to anyone if they see the need.

      • +2

Yes same experience. they revoked widevine L1 on my original Nvidia Shield Tablet late last year. Widevine L1 was perfectly working on that tablet before that

        • Yeah pretty poor effort from Google IMO, with the pixel C it was only 3 years after they stopped selling it in the Google store. I genuinely don't know what google are thinking sometimes, for such a massive company, they do some dumb things.

I've literally never owned an apple product, but for general use its probably hard to go past an iPad for $469 + whatever other deals you can get, with Suncorp I can get 5% off apple gift cards so $445 outlay for a device you know will be supported long term for security and compatibility.

        • wow that's amazing, how can they get away with that?

          • @WhiteEvo6: Dunno mate, I can only imagine their is some security standard the content owners (like Netflix) make devices uphold to keep their widevine status and if the device becomes unsupported or the security flaw is at a hardware level and unable to be patched out then maybe they just cut them off… Don't really know but just speculating as Google never gives a reason.

    • From what I've seen with the global ROM it does Widevine L1.

  • +3

CS228 promo code all claimed :-(

  • -3

    Keeps losing internet connection.

    Couldn't XiaoXin ping

  • How do these compare to, say, Samsung tablets? Something not too high spec, like a galaxy tab A7 (not lite).

    • The P11 has the same chipset as the Tab A7, but can get more ram (default is 4gb, optional to 6gb). The P11 Plus and Pro both have the next series of chip above the A7, which (I believe) is below the S7 chipset series.

In short, P11 is a bit better than Tab A7, where the P11 Plus and Pro are in the middle between the A7 and S7. This is based purely on the specs (IMHO, the P11 is quite a capable tablet for basic use).

  • Why do you have to install the Netflix apk file to get fhd ?

    • +1

Possibly a dodgy work around which will likely end up being blocked like on the mecool android tv boxes.

      • No good then

        • +1

Well yeah. For the life of me i dont understand what netflix gains from restricting its apps on any platform when they make money on subscritpions.

          Sounds counter productive.

  • +1

    missed it again :(

  • Any idea if there is the possibility to update the tablet via settings with global firmware instead of flashing via bootloader?
