On sale for a very low price is the XiaoXin Pad Plus tablet which is basically a somewhat cutdown version of the Lenovo XiaoXin Pad Pro 2020. There is an international version called the Tab P11 Plus that uses a MediaTek CPU and less RAM instead of the XiaoXin in this deal, however that has not been released in Australia.

The notable differences is that an IPS display is used so there's no blurry text like the pentile OLED displays used by the Pro's, the GPU has had a bump up in power thanks to the better Qualcomm chipset and the battery is now smaller. Regardless the tablet is still an excellent choice if you're shopping on a budget.

This tablet features Android 11 with Google Play, the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G CPU designed for gaming (bumped up version of the 730G), 6GB RAM, 128GB storage (expandable), an 11" 2000x1200 TDDI IPS Display with 400nits brightness, 7700mAh battery with QC3.0 charging and 4 JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos.

For Netflix the tablet has Widevine L1 DRM, however you must install a new Netflix apk file manually on the tablet (same with other XiaoXin tablets) to get FHD.

Update: The tablet can be had for US$230.10 (~A$318.85) here with US$5 off US$200 store coupon and coupon FYAFF24 - thanks to HL2

Not that PayPal gives you a lot of safety but there is a reason why this mob doesn't accept it. Whenever there are issues the customer ends up being the dumb one.

AliExpress has accepted PayPal for over a year now.

        I can't see it

          You're not signed in.

          • @Clear: And make sure to type in your Austrian address.

@[Deactivated]: even better to use an Australian address if you want to receive it.

not like ebay, sellers on AliExpress could choose they accept paypal or not,
        and most of them don't.

edit: i just tried and no this seller don't accept paypal,
i signed in with an Australia address.

What are you talking about? Payment is managed by AliExpress and not the individual seller. PayPal is accepted. I even checked in the backend of the stores I'm associated with and there's no ability to deny PayPal since the store doesn't manage payment.

        • As clear said, clearly you dont know what you are talking about

I haven't used their after sales service often but the 2 or 3 times I have, they have been fantastic help.

  • Aih… too late already bought the pro 2020

    • You're not going to be disappointed with the Pro. This is more of a side-downgrade instead of an upgrade.

      • Not because paying $60 more but actually this 11 inches ie smaller is better for me, coming from ipad mini

  • How did you get the quoted price? My checkout is showing $341.68

    • If your USD price comes to $238.06 then you've got the correct price. The AU$ rate on AliExpress or converted by PayPal will be inflated. If you have a card without currency conversion fees, then when you pay with PayPal you select that card and choose to bill in USD. Then you'll get close to the current exchange rate.

US$230.10 after store coupon and AliExpress coupon. That's a good find I'll add to the post.

          • @Clear: looks like discount code expired

            • @HL2: You're right. That's a shame I would have hoped they'd last longer.

              • @Clear: damm, i was looking for case and ready to check out and got stunk with promo ended

                • @HL2: AliExpress are having coupons just about every month now so it'll be on sale again in no time.

                  • @Clear: will be relying on you to post them =). Reading between the lines, looks like wait for abit. Best price for it comes to usd$240.90

  • Get a used iPad 2019 generation for $350. Much more usable.

I have a ipad 5 which I got about 4 years ago, which still works lagfree and recently I saw that it will not get latest ios(as per the leaks). I realised how fast the years had passed and how getting OS updates still made it feel new. We tend to use tablets much longer than mobiles, hence ipad is always a much better option even if it means shelling out a little more. On the otherhand iPhones are pathetically expensive and I would probably never buy one.

    • +3

Not an Android so it's not better. We don't need to have that debate though.

How would be do for a first android device for a “boomer”. Would it be a pain in the maintain as it’s a flash rom?

      It's suicidal. Get an ipad.
