  • Is the Telstra sim on full 4G Telstra network?

    • Yes

    • Isn't the Telstra prepaid and Boost SIM identical services? Why would you choose the Telstra Sim for half the data at the same price?

      • -5

No 4GX access on Boost, only 3G/4G

        • +4

That's not correct. Full telstra access on boost including 4gx.

          • -6

@[Deactivated]: It clearly states here https://boost.com.au/pages/coverage that 4GX is included?

              • -5

@razza: Clearly states above that it isn't

                • @[Deactivated]: I dare say simonline has incorrect information unless I'm magically connected to Band 28 on boost as we speak?

                  • -4

@razza: Take it up with Simon

                  • -2

@razza: It does support band 28, but not 4GX, yes, 4GX based on band 28, however, there's limit for boost users, that's all.

If you got someone work in telstra, ask him to help you check their system called telstra salesforce our knowledge. or if you are in 4gx area, simply put boost and telstra sims in your phone and do a speedtest during none busy time.

      • +2

Also esim from telstra if you care

        • Can one purchase a Telstra Prepaid SIM kit and convert it to an eSIM? I didn’t think this was allowed, but my info is possibly out of date.

          • +2

@shake: use my telstra app to self service telstra esim.

          • +1

@shake: Or visit a Telstra store.

  • I'm assuming Telstra don't offer 5G access on their prepaid?

  • any other offers for Telstra sim with more data?

  • If I am a boost customer moving to the Telstra sim do I need to port to voda??

    • +1

      You don't need to

      • Thanks 👍🏻👍🏻

    • +2

But you may need to get them to port you via Telstra Chat. Sometimes moving from Telstra (boost) to Telstra results in a few hiccups. I got them on the chat and often transfer pretty quickly via the chat window (on Telstra site).

Might not, just my $0.02 worth.

  • Thanks OP, finally made the jump to Telstra. Optus in the Byron Shire is hopeless

    • +2

Optus anywhere is hopeless. I hope to make the switch to Telstra today :)

  • Hey! I'm wanting a Telstra/Boost sim for minimal data on my iPad… Would anything on sale work for that?

    • Aldi, is also on Telstra network, although it is wholesale network.

  • Can anyone enlighten me on the roaming capabilities of the telstra SIM? Boost has zero capacity.

    • There are no roaming services on this SIM. I'm on this currently and picked up a local SIM in NZ during our trip last year

      • so you can't even receive banking SMS's?

        • I believe you can receive SMS. Its not enough for me sadly.

          • @Rbnutz: No roaming means you won’t get any inbound SMSes unfortunately.

      • Doh! Thanks, already run one of those but doesn't allow me to receive calls while in nz.
Thanks for the info. Maybe once travel is more regular they'll add it back in.

        Goku.

        • Both Telstra and Boost allow WiFi Calling and WiFi SMS worldwide - can confirm this works fine in NZ (both receiving and making calls and SMS, as long as you're on WiFi). Vodafone and Optus block WiFi Calling/SMS if you're overseas.

          • @kiwiinsyd: Interesting. When I went back home to NZ for a few weeks last year it reverted to 'No Service' regardless of wifi being connected or not.

Will need to test again when I re-do this again for another year and whenever I'm next able to get home

  • How long does the $300 last …12 months?
    $150 sim ..6 months?

    • +1

After activation, the expiry is 12 months.

  • Thanks OP. Hope the Boost 300+Voda SIM express doesn't take too long to reach me in Sydney

    • Depends on your luck, Australia post (actually all delivery service excluding DHL business service) is not reliable these days during covid.

On the cover of the Australia express post, it says next day guaranteed, however, I have a few customers get delivered around 2 weeks a few days ago.

we do ship the orders in 24 hours excluding weekends and public holidays.

      • Thanks. Hopefully it reaches here before my current plan runs out

        • OP you're a star :-) express delivery reached us less than 24 hours after I ordered

  • Is Telstra One number support on a pre-paid account now?

    • No, as I know, it won't happen in 2022

      • Also can we recharge with Telstra Plus points??

  • Off topic but does anybody know why one of my boost sim says telstra and the other one boost ? Did I change something or is it phone specific? Thanks

  • +1

Do you really need to port out if going from Telstra postpaid to boost prepaid? Seems like a pain in the butt

    • Would like to know this too :\

      • Update: On 24/01/2022 but was able to chat to Telstra Live Chat, get the Telstra Starter Pack Activated, got my old number (on postpaid, out of contract) cancelled, and then the old number transferred across to the new sim card. Took about an hour all up.

Didn't need to transfer to Voda thank goodness.

        Can confirm I received the 150GB + 75GB for a total of 225GB.

Chat tells me Telstra Prepaid doesn't yet support eSIM but according to this thread https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/653585 that's their standard response and you can do it in store, so I might give that a go.

        Thanks for the deal!

  • I wish there were some deals on Telstra prepaid recharges. Have never been able to locate one.

    • Not that hard to port out and port in again.

  • My son is a Boost customer alreadys can this be used as a recharge for him ? Cheers

    • +1

No unfortunately. He would have to port out and then port back in.

      • Ok Cheers for letting me know that. Much appreciated Bro

        • +1

Free Amaysim sim (28 days) here. They use the Optus network.

Not sure how long you need to port out for though.

          • +1

@WatchNerd: Chur Bro ….You're the man thank you

          • @WatchNerd: Oh, you can spend $3.8 extra to get a $30 vodafone sim card from us. which have 40Gb data, should be enough to use for 20+ days.

            • @simonline: $3.80 for a $30 Voda sim sounds good. Do you have a link please?

              • @WatchNerd: when you buy any longlife sim card, there's on option there, add an 30$ vodafone sim to port in and port out.

            • @simonline: Hi, I bought a telstra sim and the 3.8 vodafone one. Just like to confirm, how many days I have to stay on Vodafone before porting to Telstra to acvitage the sim please? I'm currently on Telstra.

              Thanks

              • @er2k: better a week, although someone tell me one or two days is fine. The inclusion is enough for you to use for up to 28 days if you wish.

    • Yes, but. Order the Vodafone $5 sim at the same time, port out to Voda first, use up whatever you want on that, then activate the boost sim.

  • How long does it take to process the order? I ordered Sunday, expected processing and shipping today (paid extra for express) yet the order is still in status “Awaiting Processing”…

    • shipping information usually uploaded at night by another shop assistant as before 3pm postman need to collect all the items from us.

  • When is boost $300 starter kit coming along I’m having an expiry of services by end of Feb. looking to get one again for a year

    • around a year, so nex month definitely will be fine.

  • Can anyone using this prepaid plan confirm this has WiFi Calling?

I don't have ANY phone signal where I live so this is a requirement for me :)

    • Yes, if you have a device compatible with Wi-Fi calling. It’s currently supported on Telstra Pre-Paid

      • Thanks, I ended up reading through the FAQs and finding out. My OnePlus doesn't officially support WiFi calling but there is apparently a work around. I'll do a sim swap with another Telstra wifi calling phone in my house and test the workaround first.

  • Thanks OP. Ordered boost $200 sim

  • -1

Customer service is terrible. My order has been in transit since 15th December and i emailed them twice without a reply.

  • What's the expiry date of Boost $300 sim? My current prepaid plan will be expired in April.

    • +1

      It's in the post!

    • telstra sims expires on May 2023 and boost Aug or Oct this year, definitely fine for April.

  • As a current Telstra prepaid customer, how long do I need to "port out" for before I can activate this Telstra SIM with my number?

  • Why do you list different countries for international calls and SMS than the official web? https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/prepaid-mobiles/off…

    • telstra changes the zone destinations all the time, yes, it has added some nations. thanks

  • +1

You should put "boost" in the subject or the search/alert function will not see this for people wanting boost.

  • Thanks mate. Just ordered 3 x boost $200 cards along with voda for port out and port back in.

  • If I'm currently with Belong at the moment, will I also need to port out?

    • +1

No, you don't need, Belong use different system than boost/telstra.

But please rememeber belong is a postpaid when you port out, you can find your billing account number when you login to your belong account.

  • Bought a $200 boost plan. Thanks

  • Interested in boost.
How long does it take to dispatch?

    • +1

      we ship within 24 hours.

  • Received my order in 2 business days and all activated ok, now ported from Optus to Telstra. Enjoying having things like VoLTE and Visual Voicemail back on my iPhone, even converted to eSIM so I can keep my SIM card slot free for overseas travel. $300 will keep me going for 12 months.

    • Glad you enjoy the products and our service. Happy new year and have fun!

    • How did you convert it to esim? Does it cost anything extra?

      • No cost, need to do it in the my Telstra app on iPhone. Took a minute.

        • I do not see that option in my app. Read those forums online too. Tried deleting and start over. Didn't help and Telstra customer service is beyond hopeless.

          • @akstatic: Are you connected to WiFi? Try dropping the WiFi and using the data on the service itself, or vice-versa.

It's under the service, scroll down to "More with your mobile" and the eSIM options are there. If you dont' see it, make sure your app is up to date.

You have to be logged in to your account in the app to see it I believe.

  • Received and activated, thanks OP

  • Thanks OP, just ordered a $200 Boost Sim and will possibly get one for a friend too :) (I paid for Express Ship as I'm in WA, hopefully it gets here soon)

  • How are the speeds with Boost Mobile (is the speed capped ?), I'm planning to move from Vodafone prelaid to Boost Mobile. Any reports of outages? Just concerned as I have a read quite a few negative reviews online……

    • I been with boost for about a year now. Connection has been perfect…it's literally the same 3g and 4g coverage as telstra.

      • Thanks mate! Just ordered boost 12 month sim.

  • All Boost packages have MMS?

  • Thanks, very prompt delivery
