Unagi Scooter The Model One E350 (Gotham Grey) $899 (Save $400) + Delivery (C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

210

One of the lightest E-Scooters on the market, saving $400 on RRP. JB has the description for this model slightly incorrect, it states a 350 watt motor driving the rear wheel, when infact it is in the front.

Taken directly from the Unagi website:

The Model One: E350
Unagi by the numbers
- 1 click to fold
- 12 kg scooter weight
- 1000 watts max power
- 25 km/h max speed
- 125 kg max rider weight

  • Inb4 not legal in NSW comments.

Legal in my state though ;)

Whilst some escooters are legal in states other than NSW, the max wattage allowed is 200. In VIC max speed is 10kmh. Others vary between 15kmh and 25kmhs. You may not get fined but this would be illegal on public property…

      • These devices will be restricted to a speed of 15km/h on footpaths, and 25km/h on shared paths, bicycle paths and local roads.

        This applies to TAS.

        • It's the wattage police will crack down on in time

          • @bargainshooter: I'd have to see what the new rules say, otherwise yeah 200W. Taspol were happy to tell me off for doing jumps, but people not wearing helmets among me? Not a problem and that's actually illegal unlike jumps.

Then again they don't enforce many things. Like jaywalking.

            • @Clear: Don't enforce until they do

              • -1

@Tleyx: Good thing I'm not breaking any laws yet.

                • @Clear: Didn't say you were

Got told in nsw they never enforce then they did

    is it 🍣 or πŸ›΄?

      Battery powered 🍣

        Electric eel!

    • neither, it's an ancient karate arts from Japan

    • But but that's nigiri!

Unagi is a total state of awareness, only by achieving true unagi can you be prepared for any danger that may befall you

    Salmon skin roll.

    • I think of that episode every time I hear the word unagi πŸ˜…

  • +1

    I thought Unagi was eel?

    • Yet. Gets slippery in the wet.

    • Yes unagi is the Japanese word for eel

  • +2

Segway Ninebot Air T15 is 10.5kg, so I think it's not the lightest on the market

Although Unagi is much better for weight capacity / range / speed.

    • I was not aware of that model, that is some high tech looking scooter! Will edit the description now.

  • Is this good? Every scooter has to say 25km/h
    Is 350W good or standard?
How much is 15 Max. incline (degrees) anyway? How steep is the average uphill road?

    • This is your ideal commuter/end of trip escooter. If you are hopping on and off the train/bus and only have a few kms to go on a mostly flat terrain you should be fine and very happy with this one.

If you're looking for a more casual weekend fun ride/adventure escooter you're probably better of getting a segway ninebot model.

      • Not commuter. More for say spending the day out, parked a bit far, go shop a bit, cafe a bit, hang shopping on handlebars. don't want to walk all day. Something like that mostly.

        • I think you might get more value from another model. The target demographic for this one, is people slogging it up and down flights of stairs to the train lines. Folding it up to fit on the bus. etc. Its not a sturdy ride, and I wouldn't recommend hanging bags of the handles on this one. I know you can get specific models with bag carrying capability.

      • Because of power or weight?

        • yup the power/distance to weight ratio is pretty decent on this model.

      Is this good?

For what ? If you want to go 2km on nice flat smooth pavement, and then collapse it and catch the train (or put it under the desk at work), this will be fine. If you want to use it has a car substitute, it will be terrible

Every scooter has to say 25km/h

Legally every car has to stay on the < speed limit, people can't make calls while driving, cant drive while drunk and on and on and yet many folks ignore that …. My Scooter will do about 70km/h, when around others I stay at about 20-30, when no one is around, I open it up to about 50, which is about all I need

      Is 350W good or standard?

You won't be able to go up a hill. A slight incline will be doable. Mine is 2 wheel drive, 1000x W each moter. I used to own a "legal" Xaomi Mi Pro, owning that made me understand how revolutionary these these are for urban areas but bigger wheels (10") and suspension is a game changer when I got the Mantis Pro.

I sold my car and only use my escooter and pushbike. I live in Qld on the Gold Coast, were scooters are legal (mine isn't). I also scoot to the train station to go to Brisbane. Best thing ever, my partner uses hers to go to work as well (4km to her work)

      • Mantis Pro

Not cheap, but I bet it's fun with dual motors.

  • +1

You can also get a ninebot f20a from Aldi for $500.

    (Different specs)

  • Scooter must have self awareness.

  • Range of 29km

    • +1

In ideal conditions, at a low speed, with a light rider.

If you're 90kg and most of the ride is top speed and there's stopping/starting expect about half that.

  • Xiaomi Pro 2 far better option

  • From VicRoads:

    Is my scooter legal?

    If your motorised scooter:

is powered by a petrol motor
has an electric motor with a maximum power greater than 200 watts
has a maximum speed greater than 10 km/h
then it cannot be legally used on a road or any road related areas, including footpaths, share paths and public areas. The fine for an illegal device is $826. Other penalties may also apply.

    • +1

Yep most are illegal in Victoria at the moment - still doesn't stop them from running me over on the footpath when I go for a walk X-D

      • +1

I think it is dangerous, however I think its more of a rider issue than a scooter issue, I've seen people step out of shops and get flattened by runners and kids on little Micro scooters.

    • They are trialing 25km an hour scooters in a bunch of council areas in Vic i.e. Port Philip which makes these rules not worth the paper they written on. We will likely see after the trial new laws come into affect

  • Gotham Gray indeed! I must have missed that Batman movie.

  • Is it really a good price comparing to Xiaomi’s pro 2?

  • range of 29km….

I doubt that with no battery bump to speak of.

  • I have stopped here just for the not legal comment.
