Sunbeam Auto Brew Drip Filter Coffee Maker PC7900 $55.96 Delivered @ MYER via Google Search

130

Cheapest price I've seen this one in a while. Following off a Google search result seems to get a few $ off the price using the model number as a search term - to give price shown in title,
I've tried to include that with the link. Free shipping too so whether your local store has it in stock or not probably won't matter.

Just had the one we've used daily at least prior to 2016 stop working. I found this setup to automatically go off in the morning, in combo with a bread maker to be the best smell to wake up to.

Most of the time I just used it manually, was pretty reliable and very quick compared to other drips I've had. Produces coffee quicker than I can boil my jug.

Understand drip coffee is not for everyone. I like it for my daily as an alternative to expresso. But I also drink coffee either black or only with a dash of milk unless I'm out. Particularly like it for cold winter mornings. Good if you like drinking at min 1.5 cups before work (can do far more though) or if you share with a few in the house.

First post so please be a bit gentle. Feedback definitely welcome too.

  • Price in the title would be helpful…😉

    • Thanks! I've added it in

There's a $51.95 option at Amazon (from seller Big Bedding): https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B076JQH9N4

    • Great find! Free delivery even without prime too.

  • Any special deal going round for grind and brew combo machines?

    • +1

Retailers do not seem to sell grind and brew machines in Australia :( No specials but ebay has a Todo grind and brew. Only one I found and it does an okay job. The water pump on the Todo doesn't measure the water, it simply boils all of the water that you fill the reservoir with.

      • Retailers do not seem to sell grind and brew machines in Australia :(

That is quite surprising which in a way is actually not, as it is typical of us missing a lot of products widely available elsewhere around the world. Thank you for the brand recommendation and I'll check it out.

        • The grinder has an analog dial so you can dial the grind size in. No water temperature control. No wifi. Small bean hopper ~250g.

    • I used to have a cuisinart that had a grinder, worked quite well but you had to clean the grinder after each use it was the DGB625BCU

  • You better put store in title also. I own this machine love it, use it everyday.

I honestly thought drip coffee was mostly an American thing!
Sunbeam generally make great coffee machines, I’ve owned three of their espresso machines

    • It used to be big here, when I was a kid in the 80s. I knew a fair few people who had them. Then Blend 43 killed it off a lot, then young people realised that was crap and got into espresso then pour overs, Aeropress, etc.

      Might be making a comeback.

When I lived in Sweden in the late 2000s, these were popular there, I loved the coffee they made. My daily driver these days is a Bialetti Moka Express.

    • Filter coffee is still the best, just don't use the crappy plastic reusable filters, get good old paper as is absorbs the cholesterol that sits on top of an espresso - makes a healthier coffee. I think the plastic filters dropped their popularity. Australia went all pretentious over espresso ages ago, but a good grind on paper in a quality machine still tastes best to me.

  • Wanted to get one of these machines to stop myself drinking 6+ espressos a day.

Has anyone used this or the Breville The Aroma Style Electronic Drip Coffee Maker (BCM600BSS) ?

    Any opinions?

    • Seems to have ok reviews, hard to tell, but $69 at big w and 12% cash back at the moment isn’t a bad deal

Edit big w seems to be the LCM700 not sure what the differences are tbh

    • You gotta like filter coffee to start off with. Tbh I like it, it's not as strong so if you drink milk with coffee you'll use a lot more coffee to milk (aka not a 30mL shot, but more like a dash of milk). I find some filters you buy you're left with dreggs at the bottom of the pot near the end. I personally don't like drinking that last little bit. But then rest is fine. I enjoy it. May be a bit of a nostalgia thing but not too sure. It's great if you drink heaps of coffee as the thing stays warm for at least 1h (best guess) but probably more, and you want coffee that is hot and ready to go. I found it great working from home, would just go grab a top up in the morning and put another pot on late morning to cover lunch/early arvo.

Very different taste to espresso. Wouldn't say worse just different. Not as strong as straight espresso. A bit less aromatic and probably milder flavours as it doesn't use pressurised water to push out the flavours. That said more water passes through it so caffeine and other things may even come out stronger than an equivalent espresso. I'd say I use slightly more coffee but I probably also drink a bit more too with it. I love it in winter as it's usually warm enough. If I drink it black I just top it with tap water (or filtered if your supply isn't great).

Any questions feel free to ask.

If you wanna try it, maybe look out for pour overs or something similar at a cafe. It won't be the same but might give you an idea of the style/taste
