  • Price seems ok. Website looks a bit questionable.
Did these fall off the back of a truck?

8GB RAM is so pre-covid specs

Maybe they will make 16GB standard on the Surface Pro in a decade or 2

    • my macbook pro from 2015 had 8gb ram.. was about this price too.

      • So 2015 is the Surface Pro 4, which came with 8GB ram for around $1k. Even the Surface Pro 3 8GB was around the same price (and I really miss my SP3). Also, it was pretty easy to pick up the Surface Book with performance base for $1000-1100 with 8GB, so it seems the price is the only thing rising.

    • i could've sworn 16GB got normalized as "standard" around 2018-2019, then it magically regressed back to 8GB since covid hit.

Surface has always been 8GB since the SP4 model (I think). There was that crappy SP3 with 4GB and a 10" screen, but that was cheap junk. In saying this the Surface Pro's with 8GB, still run decent with 8GB if you use it for drawing, PDF's, OneNote, Videos or the Net. Only issue is the batteries cannot be replaced easily, so SP3 or 4 or 5, have the risk of the battery crapping itself. If you want to spend ~$1000 for a similar experience (not as good with drawing), but the Lenovo flex series takes the cake. The Flex 5 14" with R7 (8C / 16T) with 16GB Ram 512GB SSD for $1.1k is prob the best value for money for a student. Just no thunderbolt and the screen is only good indoors

    why would one buy a non-upgradeable 8GB laptop in 2022? I remember I have bought a 8GB Macbook Pro back in 2013.

    • Yep, still rocking my Lenovo yoga pro 2 from 2013 as well, was definitely worth paying the little extra at the time to go from 4 to 8GB ram… Weird how ram has kind of stagnated over the last decade.

wow… my 2014 surface pro has 8 gb RAM

For everyone whining about 8GB Ram, Surface Pro 8 also comes in a 32GB Ram variant for a price.

    • +1

people that really need 32 gigs of ram woudnt be looking at surface pros in the first place
