I think it is the cheapest around now. Most places are $399. Maybe it is not worth it as i5 11500 is like $299. 1% surcharge applies for select payment methods.

The 12400 is probably going to start around this price so you might regret getting this. For the older socket look at the 10400 instead for $229.
Yea maybe. How about the motherboard? What is the cheapest? Ah well 2late anyway
Probably $150 for the cheaper ones
If you need a cpu/computer now I think this is a very respectable purchase.
The 12400 is rumoured to be around the 5600 level, which is similar-ish to this. You do of course get some better tech in the 12th gen (mostly ddr5), but that of course means waiting, and while it'll release on the 5th in the US, I'm not sure about here, and what availability will be like.
I personally would wait the 5 days haha, but I don't think it'll turn out to be a catastrophically bad choice.
The 12400 beats 11900k in almost all cases except multi threading where it’s reasonably close.
@[Deactivated]: Are you talking about this leak? The gaming results will be due to the massive difference in ram. Unfortunately the internet seems to be running with this, ignoring the reason why lol.
But otherwise yeah good single core performance.

@incipient: Agreed, even if its a tie, thats not bad. Also cheap mobos are on thier way and 12 series still perform well on DD4.
The 12400 will be faster in almost every game VS even the top of the range 10th and 11th gen
And Zen3 3D will also be faster and cheaperDo you mean the iGPU? I don't really ever consider them when looking at CPUs. If you mean with a dgpu, then CPUs - beyond a given threshold - have such a fairly impact on most games.
i5 11400 was $229 not long ago from CA. its better choice than 10400 hands down.
i think it’s a TCO thing ……MB for 10/11 gen are cheap, ddr4 is cheap, and the 11500/11600 has onboard graphics so a it’s a cheap build for office productivity with the new work from home, especially if you aren’t using a graphics card for gaming …..note 11400 has lower spec iris graphics than 11500 if you are using the onboard ……
a12 th gen build …… MB are premium price, ddr5 mem is premium price and CPU won’t be discounted due initial demand …..
i would think 12 th gen build would be at least $200 more during the initial availability (3-6 mths) until 10/11 gen stocks of MB and cpus become scarcer.
I was looking for a 11700k build but they were so far over priced it wasn't funny, I still waited though, nothing happened, same for 11600k. I changed gears at the moment a 11400 went on a historical low I jumped at it.
Would I have liked this yeah sure. I do like that this time around I've got a great deal on everything sans a GPU so there's that for comfort.
This is a good deal for you're on an i3 10105 looking to upgrade, or those looking to finally jump multiple generations for new build. Perhaps even pick up a cracking Mobo sale as 12thGen gear gains momentum.
11600k is also going for $354.55 on Amazon.
All time low when checking against staticice prices.
I bought the 11500 for $280 the other day, when it was in stock
