Fantastic watch. Have the original bead-blasted finish and it's incredible. The dial is beautiful, finish is great, accuracy is amazing. Have heard a lot of complaints about the size, but it looks and wears perfectly on my 7" wrist - very comfortable indeed. Definitely jump on one of these.

    • -5

Politely disagree due to the fact of the 52mm lug to lug length hanging off the edge of your 7" wrist.

  • +1

Would jump if it was the 251 at this price, alas it's another $100.

I regret not jumping on it when it was $435 before black friday.

Great watch, I bought the 96A225 during the last 1 day sale…

    • +2

I think the stainless is much prettier anyway.

      • Me too.

    • +1

Agreed. I got a 96B251 (commemorative box, leather strap and spare nylon strap) at $449 back in June and it's one my favourites, I've left it on the leather strap, very comfortable despite my thin wrists, wears light for its size.

  • How long will the battery last in this watch? Do you need to have the watch pressure tested after battery change?

    • +1

      About 4 years.
Like all watches, if you want to guarantee the water proof rating after the battery change it's recommended to retest it.

      • +1

Probably not 4 years due to it running a Bulove Precisionist movement - increased speed of the seconds hand compared to a basic quartz to simulate an automatic movement.

        • +2

Was thinking of getting one of the Bulova moon watch for precision time keeping but holding off due to battery change. I think I will stick with my Eco-Drive that only gain 6 seconds per month, so 72 seconds for a year is not bad at all.

          • @Metz: Have a look at the casio t200

Looks and acts like a quartz but is synced to phone atomic time. Never out by a second.

            • @aoeueoa: Thanks for the suggestion, will look into that.

        • Oops, yep that was a typo, I meant to write "about 2 years"

          • +1

@cashie: Even at two years, I'd just change the battery myself. I wouldn't be taking this thing anywhere near the water. I think most enthusiasts have at least one diver these days.

            • @ilikeit: I will be too.

            • @ilikeit: Do you have a link for a case opener for a quartz of this size? I could not find one to open a case back like this one size wise

  • +1

I have the 225 version of this and can confirm it is a nice well made watch. Not great for those with a small wrist though.

I have the silver metal banded one, love it. It's my daily

    • +1

Oof. I paid $499 for this a few weeks ago from Starbuy. I'm going to cry in the corner now.

    • +2

Well done WatchNerd, I paid $399 on sale 6 weeks ago. Good price.

    • Missed out big time on this one. Any chance of an additional coupon code again?

  • Black or silver? Black or silver? Black or silver? Black or silver? Black or silver?

    • +1

      Silver for sure

      • Got the silver one, but forgot to enter the $50 OFF discount code.

    • Black ! The branding script is classier too..

  • Great deal.
Any chance of getting a deal on the Citizen Eco-Drive BT0080-59E?

  • I work in TV production and accurate timing is everything. Love the velcro and leather strap option but this watch is phenomenal.

  • Anyone has a link to a case opener for this size of quartz?

The watch looks great but to add more quartz I need to be able to change batteries by myself, I have at least 2 quartz left in the drawer cause out of battery.

And before anything say, this is ozbargain, where we are ok to pay $$$ for a discounted watch, but too cheap to spend $40 dollars to change a battery (a proper battery in a shop where there is someone that properly handle watches)

    • I just bought a cheapo from Aliexpress. I figured if it breaks after opening a few watches then it's not a big loss, but it hasn't broken yet.

I think you need to be pretty strong in the wrist to use this type as there isn't much leverage. You also need to be very carefull so you don't slip & scratch the caseback.

      • The one I got from ebay (the standard one T shape, is not wide enough for a 45mm case (the back should be 43mm), and agree since there is not much connection while I can connect 2 of the insert area, need to have 3 to put enough force to open it with the T shape model.

  • Any watches under 40mm?
