Been eyeing this cable for a while but I was in no rush to buy this cable for my Keychron K8, but took a look as it is boxing day & these 2 colours yellow or green were discounted heavily so I purchased both.

I don't get why a keyboard would need this
For aesthetics
It doesn't. But for people who want to further accessorise their already expensive keyboard, it's another level of personalisation. For hobbyists, any option to accessorise is fun, like artisan keycaps.

So the keyboard doesn’t use a standard connection?
It does, but if you imagine someone cut the cable in the middle and added a second connection in the middle for no reason, that's what this is.
Edit: actually, you can mix and match colours between the 2 sections.

Yeah, yellow sold out a few minutes after posting & green still said $15 in stock before going to checkout back up to $50 & now completely out of stock.
Is there any functional benefit to a cable like this or is it just fashion? Looking into building my own keyboard and seen many on youtube have something similar
Really a fashion thing but the good thing with this cable is that you can change it to 3 different inputs.
