Ordered Thursday night. I selected pickup option

        • +1

mine is ready for pickup according to the notification I received just now. ordered on Thursday, paid on Saturday (payment cleared this morning)

so definitely must be physically here in their store

  • Got my shipping notification yesterday, looks like mine may be shipping direct from China via SF Express. Anyone else receive similar tracking info?

    • hmm that would be contrary to what BPC are saying

they say that stock is physically here

if they are truly assembling mine now, and say it should be ready by Friday, no way it would make it here from China within the timeframe

      • I am interstate and not in a huge hurry, so I just selected the free shipping method. I only received the shipping notification with a tracking number and the carrier name. Can't track anything yet, so we'll wait and see…

    • Got the exact same notification as you yesterday as well. I don't know how to track the delivery but hopefully it arrives soon. However, it didn't say anything about shipping from China, but just said the courier was "SF Express"

      • SF Express Co., Ltd. is a Chinese multinational delivery services and logistics company based in Shenzhen, Guangdong. It is the second largest courier in China, and provides domestic and international express delivery

    • I got my shipping notification today.

I selected the insured to $1500 fast way courier (fastaway can't remember exactly?). Notification today says Australia Post. The $1999 build.

Someone else mentioned the same, something to do with the too low insurance on the courier vs Australia Post so it gets transferred to the other shipping.

    • Seems SF Express also does domestic shipping in Australia. My tracking is working today and showing my parcel has been loaded at 澳大利亚墨尔本服务点 , which according to Google translate is "Service Point in Melbourne, Australia".
Estimated delivery date of the 19th.

Received mine yesterday (3060, QHD version) and am very impressed so far. I bought an Acer Nitro 5 a month ago with the same specs (apart from FHD screen) which i was happy with and this laptop outclasses it in almost every way. It feels much more premium, weighs less, the screen is WAY better, the battery is bigger and whilst just web browsing so far seems to be sipping power (it estimates 12 hours but I don't trust that at all!)

The speakers suck, I'm not an immediate fan of the keyboard, and webcam is average, but to me so far it feels as good as a Razerblade or something that costs twice as much. I think it's a bargain.

It was very warm to the touch last night without doing anything strenuous. I downloaded the NUC studio software and turned off "Passive Cooling Mode" and it's much better now.

I have not really tested performance yet, so take this with a grain of salt.

    • Have you checked the ram specs yet? Confirm whether it's x8 or x16?

    • where did you download the Studio?

      • +1

        found it in MS store

    • Hey man, after you turned off the passive cooling mode, is it still too hot? Thanks.

    • Hey mate, any update on the battery? Could you tell us how long you get just doing normal office / web work? I'm about to pull the trigger :)

Also can it be charged via USBC?

  • For anyone who ordered with normal shipping (SF Courier), you can track your shipment here: https://www.sf-international.com/us/en/dynamic_function/wayb…

  • Woohoo finally out for delivery tomorrow 👍

    • Same! Its coming today!!

    Ordered the M15F.
3060 seems a bit underpowered for QHD gaming and more suited to FHD at least for the games that I play.
Overall seems good value for 3060 130w (from what I can see), great processor, and 2x8gb 3200 ram.
May plug into a monitor down the line to avoid optimus, though it seems to have a negligible impact on framerates.
Will provide thoughts on product once I pick it up.

    • that was my reason for not going with the QHD option

although I went further and got 3070 with FHD 240hz for competitive FPS

also in general I see no point in QHD in 15.6" form factor. visual differeces are minimal and hard to spot, while battery drain is increased and scaling becomes a nuisance

FHD on 15.6" means windows runs on 100% (no scaling), so it's always my preference for 15.6" form factor

even on 17.3" I am comfortable with FHD. but probably depends on the kind of games you play. for me smooth FPS are more important than more pixels

I am getting my X15 F on Friday. when are you getting your unit? I am keen to learn what 240hz FHD panel is used :)

      • Yes I agree, 15.6 is a small screen so FHD suits it.
Smooth FPS and being able to put all settings to high or ultra is easier too on FHD.
Not sure when I'm getting my unit, I ordered it yesterday but from other comments it seems a week or so turnaround is to be expected

        • I am picking mine up later today, seems that I will be the first one to get my hands on a FHD panel equipped unit

          • @shabaka: Keen to see your thoughts, particularly on how it manages thermals comapred to your old Razer 17 and what the fan noise under load is like.

            • @Lukas: taking into consideration that Razer 17 was 2080 Super Max-Q (100w) and this one is a 3070 with max power limit

in Balanced mode gets rather loud, need headphones

if I enable Whisper mode 2.0 (is available with latest BIOS 0040) it's quiet and cool, performance of 3070 is enough to play Control on everything maxed out

edit: I realized that I had fan maxed out on Balanced settings, I will reset to default and report
edit 2: Balanced mode is good, maybe a bit louder than Razer used to be. certainly better performance than Whisper 2.0, and the fan isn't too loud.

Playing Control DX11 maxed out in Balanced:
              Fans are 2040 RPM each
              CPU 69C
              GPU 32C

at least as reported by the NUC Studio

GPU temp seems a bit low? fans aren't loud. back of the laptop gets hot of course, keyboard stays cool

Picked mine (3060 QHD) up yesterday.
Very impressed so far, reminds me of the XPS 15 without the throttling and heat issues.
ThrottleStop reported voltage adjustment disabled, so used the BIOS to undervolt the core by -50 mV, and the other two by -40 mV. ThrottleStop confirmed the undervolt, and ran the 960M test without issue. On a cooling pad, temperatures reached 80-85°C, and it hit power limits. At the end of the run it cooled down very rapidly, reaching about 40°C in about 20-30 s. I'm very impressed by that cooling system, coming from a number of Dells.

    • valuable info, thanks a lot! I didn't expect undervolt to be available in BIOS, after not seeing it in a few laptops I owned in a row

    • +1

Hey mate, any update on the battery? Could you tell us how long you get just doing normal office / web work? I'm about to pull the trigger :)

Also can it be charged via USBC?

    • +1

Hey Chemware, thanks heaps for posting the undervolt numbers! When you said "undervolt the core by -50 mV, and the other two by -40 mV", what did you mean by the other two? I can only see the Core Voltage offset to put to -50 and another one called GT Voltage offset to put at -40.

      • I saw Core Voltage and 2 x GT Voltage. Did you stress test yet?

        • Nah haven't stress tested… are you using Throttlestop to see the 2 x GT Voltage or is it in your BIOS?
I put Core -50 and GT -40 but my battery started reporting weird time remaining so I put GT back to 0.

Ordered the 3060 QHD on Sunday and just received confirmation it's being delivered today.

I havent gamed on a pc in about 20 years, pretty excited.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a decent cooling pad?

    • Ordered last Thursday (6th), build completed on Monday, status updated to "shipped" on Tuesday.

Got the tracking update from Auspost Wednesday that they'd received it.

Updated to "On its way" just now.

      Eta 19th-24th…

I'm in regional NSW, lucky I wasn't in a huge hurry and have other devices I can use.

      • I'm in Melbourne, so that probably explains why I've already received mine.

It did list an eta of 20th-24th, so it arrived way ahead of schedule, you may receive it sooner than the listed eta.

  • Anyone know of the other software such as "Intel NUC Software Studio" that will needed to be downloaded to fully configure the laptop?

  • The laptop got delivered a few hours ago and I am really liking it - the screen and keyboard especially are really good. Not a fan of the trackpad, and how hot the laptop gets without doing much. One issue I'm facing is that in my settings menu, I can't configure the laptop (personalise, add users, etc.) because Windows is not activated. One way to solve this would be to enter the product key, but I don't know where to find that. Anyone faced a similar issue or have suggestions?

    • get in touch with BPC to see what's going on, this should come with Windows 10 license

have you tried clicking activate link in settings?

I don't know how barebone OEM licences work tyese days. do they get injected into BIOS, or do they just attach a sticker with a product key to the bottom cover

also another member mentioned disabling passive cooling in the NUC studio, have you tried that? for the running hot issue

      • Yeah might have to do that. I did disable passive cooling mode and that did the trick. Thanks.

    • What screen did you order?

      • 3060 with QHD

        • Cool, feeling a bit alone in the FHD club with Shabaka.

          • +1

@johndoh89: it's an elite club, cheer up haha

I am sure a couple more people mentioned they are getting FHD

also it's a bit riskier because this panel hasn't been reviewed, probably that's why.

      • interesting that at Computer Alliance they are priced FHD > QHD

and here at BPC it's the other way around QHD > FHD

        • And still much more expensive as a barebones kit. No idea how bpc managed this deal when others are carrying the barebones 3060 kit for more than we paid for the 3070 with ram and ssd

          • @johndoh89: yes, it's a mystery.

maybe it's so cheap (for resellers that sell it customised) that BPC are still making money on this (while launching their own "brand" which is just barebones plus RAM plus SSD plus Windows license plus logo slapped on the lid), as I understand prices are going up after 15th

everyone else like MWave and CA are applying insane margins then

            • +1

@shabaka: Going off the info we have and assuming they make a profit, BPC is probably paying around $1000 per 3060 unit. Any more and they'd have to be close to making a loss on these once labour and ram/ssd/OS are taken into account.

The other guys are selling these for over $2000… As you said they may be getting a discount as a rebrander, but it still looks like the others are making damned near 100% profit on them.

If you desperately wanted a barebones to use the ssd and ram you want, you'd be far better buying this (cheaper to begin with) then selling the ssd and ram (making it cheaper still) it comes with than actually buying the barebones.

              • @johndoh89: yeah.. so either BPC are being super generous here, or everyone else is being super greedy

                or both

                or all of the above

            • @shabaka: No logo on lid. No kraken branding on anything including box

            • @shabaka: Looks like I found the direct from Intel price in my searching
              https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/en/products/sku/1981…

The FHD screen is actually $20 more on the bulk purchase.

              • @johndoh89: that is cheap. I mean that's the price for 5 units, so difference between qhd and fhd is actually $4

                • @shabaka: I misread it's actually the recommended customer price, not what they are paying. Still a lot below the $2000+ the barebones seller had.

    • Hey mate, any update on the battery? Could you tell us how long you get just doing normal office / web work? I'm about to pull the trigger :)

Also can it be charged via USBC?

There should be something like a cardboard DVD sleeve in the box. Inside that is a product key. When you try to activate Windoze with it you get a hexadecimal error in red. If you then reboot, your laptop may or may not be activated :-/

    • Yes! That did the trick. Thanks.

Edit: Didn't have to reboot. Activated without any errors.

  • I'm not seeing a free shipping option - I'm in NSW, what do I do?

    • I used the cheapest option was about $20

  • Is anyone getting an issue with the trackpad which is seemingly way to sensitive and irritating when switching between tabs as it tries to merge them together? Also, I am getting an annoying buzz and electrical noise coming from the laptop when its being used (this noise goes away when charging. Did some research and the issue is called "coil whine"). Has anyone else faced these problems with theirs?

    • definitely coil whine on my unit running on battery

      • Is it loud and annoying?

        • +1

on the scale of 1 to 10 it's about 5 depends on the background noise level

  • Can you add a second SSD in this laptop? My son is looking to buy a laptop for gaming / school but wants 2tb of storage.

    • yes.

  • Can anyone confirm the usb c on this kraken is
    USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with DisplayPort ?
    Thanks

  • Have many people ordered option 4?

    4.Kraken M15 F Gaming Laptop i7-11800H FHD 240HZ 16GB(2X8GB) 512GB $1499 + Delivery

What was the 512 GB SSD included? Seems like option 3 might be worth it just for the SSD upgrade + screen

    • My thoughts too, as the 1TB SSD is a decent Kingston 2500.

  • Sale ends tomorrow (last day) 15th. Still tossing between #2 or #3 as its $1k (thereabouts) difference.

Is there a compelling difference between the 3060 and 3070 to warrant the extra pricing?

    • from youtube review i see 3070 is like around 20% better than 3060 so yes significant if you are gamer

    • The 3060 is a full blooded 130W, so the 3070 is about 15% faster.

  • I got my X15 F (3070, FHD 240hz)

will report when I get home and fire it up

    • +2

      I got my M15f
      Panel is https://www.blisscomputers.net/asus-tuf-dash-f15-fx516pr-lq1…
Very impressed with the overall package so far

looks like a bit dim (mine def felt a bit dim, but not like 220nit dim, review above confirms around 270), but fast and 91% sRGB

I am happy with that. I will confirm if mine has the same panel

        • Mine is a bit warm to the touch - how do i disable passive cooling?

          • @dnvrngts: see above, you have to install a service from the support page (Intel, I linked above), and NUC Software Studio, in settings there's passive cooling

which if enabled means passive heating really, and shouldn't be there, but that's my opinion

also some reviews mentioned weak display hinge. I don't confirm that. mine is solid, no wobble when typing

also, coming from a Razer Blade 17 the thing is tiny

            • @shabaka: O.k thanks!

I can't install windows 11 for some reason

              • @dnvrngts: I did a fresh install of W11 from scratch, works fine

      • LQ156M1JW26

        same in mine

    • Hey mate, any update on the battery? Could you tell us how long you get just doing normal office / web work? I'm about to pull the trigger :)

Also can it be charged via USBC?

      • unfortunately there's no USB-C charging here, only the supplied charger works.

battery life - I haven't had it for enough to comment :) but just doing web browsing on Balanced mode it reports 8+ hours on 87% at the moment
on battery saver it jumps up to 10 hours

but I don't have enough real life usage to comment if those values are even real. reviewers reported 6 hours from memory.

        • Ahh thanks for that. Yeah I wouldn't have minded it not having USBc charging if the battery life was above 8 hours…

  • Appreciate all the input on their experience so far. Makes it easy to decide which to buy before the deal expires.

  • +2

my impressions after about 40 minutes of setting it up (X15 F, 3070 FHD)

    • build quality is solid, coming from a Razer Blade 17
    • keyboard will take some getting used to, no typos so far, but I hit the up key instead of the right shift often
    • screen is beautiful. felt dim at the start, but after full setup it's plenty bright. smooth and colorful
    • runs warm so far, after I updated to latest BIOS and enabled Whisper Mode 2.0 - maybe that's not a good option since it disables everything else on power configuration tab. I have a feeling that I haven't got the service installed correctly, fan speed is always 0
    • I see a few posters configuring bios and what not. Are there plenty required to muck around with in order for it to run smoothly?

    • On idle my left fan speed is around 1400rpm and right fan is 0 rpm. I wonder if there is a way to custom set the fan speeds. benchmark mode runs both fans at full

      • If I run benchmark mode on constantly, idle temps are around 40c

    • Did you use the calibrated icc file from the Asus review of the panel?

      • No, should I?

      • I did, it doesn't look ideal though

I have a calibrator in the office, can share profiles later when I get it done

        • That would be great

  • Does anyone know what brand of ram this laptop ships with? I'm trying to find the memory timing.
