  • I need one, but reviews both on Amazon and OzBargain seem quite mixed. Anyone have positive experiences with these?

I have been using this one https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0855L9MXY with my Dell laptop and is fine. The only two things I would complain are my laptop complains about the 87W PD not being enough and the short and flimsy USB C cable.

I solved the cable problem by using a $10 USB C extension as sacrificial cable.

I have bought this for missus from a previous deal and tried with Samsung Dex and Lenovo laptop (only use Ethernet, USB hub, HDMI 1080p). It is really good for the price considering the build quality.

    • I will be returning mine. The audio port doesn't work anymore and I have to keep unplugging and replugging my usb cable for my keyboard to work. The ethernet port keeps randomly disconnecting me from the net too.

      • audio port doesn't work anymore

which audio port ? there is no sound card on this. may be a different model ?

  • These look very nice but beware that there are reports that some MacBooks have been bricked by some USB C hubs and that Apple have released an operating system update to prevent it.

If you have a 4K monitor, or ever intend on getting one, I'd highly recommend you stay away from 4k@30hz devices. IMHO 4K@30Hz is unusable and the delay/lag is very noticible.

    • Totally agree on 30Hz

  • I'll stop short of negging this as there are people who are happily using these hubs in previous deals.

Personally, I wouldn't purchase this for the following reasons:

    • These are on special enough that this is effectively the normal price
    • Low rating on amazon
    • Lack of Google TV with Chromecast compatibility
    • There's a minimal price difference with better rated, more compatible options
    • Amazon third party returns are a pain
    • There's a minimal price difference with better rated, more compatible options
Any chance you can share any links? The prices of OPs seem good but quite a few reviews stating that they stop working pretty quickly

Looking for a recommendation but there seem to be less after Amazon delisting certain brands. I would have recommended one from Vava based on reviews and personal experience.

If buying on Amazon, I think Novoo for a budget. If you're after higher quality: Ugreen, Anker.
