      Thank you. Added.

  • The colour scheme of Cotton Candy set is really nice. What the colour scheme be called, pastel perhaps?

    • Yeh I guess. Something along those lines.

  • Nah, for key caps, ABS is not really a good option. It's too soft and will get oily just after a period of use. POM is much harder, but still have the same oily issue.

Try search PBT key caps on amazon, you will get something much better with similar looks but only a third of the price.

    • Had a look through Amazon and the only similar ones to the Cotton Candy set was this. Reviews are somewhat mixed and the price isn't that different.

Maybe I'm not looking hard enough?

I don't think SA keycaps are going to be that common. There were something at least with simliar colour scheme as what you posted in SA profile on Aliexpress (just look up SA PBT Chalk keycap. They kinda were on my list of interesting looking keycaps, but never really got around getting one.

A slight sidenote, HK Gaming PBT keycaps do not feel textured, at least my keycaps from them reminds me more of those rubbery plastic.

I just searched my self, and there seems to be some if not lots of them.

For the one you listed, I have a set of standard profile from the same manufacturer which was not to my satisfaction, did not bother to return though.

Damn, someone should let GMK know.

I think ABS vs PBT is more of a preference thing. Yes, PBT tend to last longer in terms of developing a "shine", but that's just one aspect of the keycaps.

      • +1

I agree and there are pros and cons to both. Like you said, PBT doesn't shine as quickly but can have issues with warping. ABS generally produces a higher clackier sound but allows for much better colouring. I think the widespread idea that PBT is somehow strictly better than ABS is a result of marketing from gaming brands because advertising "superior PBT keycaps" is an easy value add for them.

There are good examples of ABS and bad examples of PBT and vice versa and the manufacturer plays a huge roll in that. For example, I would much rather have an ABS set from ePBT (ironic considering the name, I know) than a PBT set from Glorious.

I do like ABS on at least MT3 profile in terms of how they sound and feel. SA keycaps are generally made with ABS, so I am not sure how good (or bad) the PBT SA keycaps would be, but eh.

Frankly speaking, I think a good keycap is a good keycap. I might add the fact that PBT tends to be dye sub which has its limitations (legends can be less distinct vs doubleshot + it becomes more difficult when the colour of the legends is lighter than the plastic)?

        • Well, I don't know if PBT is better coming from gaming brands. I don't really play games. I just don't want oily keycaps and actually I have tried ABS, POM and PBT keycaps and PBT is the only material that does not get oily in a couple of weeks. It was a shame that I tried PBT the last…

      • Yep, I type a lot and I really cannot stand the oily touch of ABS keycaps develop in a week or so. I have a few sets of PBT keycaps from amazon made by different vendors, so far no issues found really.

If you have a problem with keys shining, that is fine. I just don't think you can put a blanket sentence of PBT is better than ABS. When, as I said, it's just one aspect of the keycap.

          • @iridiumstem: Well, I clearly stated why I think PBT is better and there is nothing perfect, so you will have to concede on some aspect.
Yep I agree that is just one aspect but that is also one vital aspect for people like me, which is a big NO for ABS or POM already. Also, ABS is the cheapest of the 3, given the price, sorry but I have no way to view it as a deal.

@[Deactivated]: First and foremost, SA keycaps tend to be more expensive. I think PBT SA keycaps are rare, and secondly the most expensive ones that you'd find for SA keycaps would probably be from Signature Plastics who make ABS SA keycaps. Similarly, GMK produces keycaps that are more expensive than PBT clones.

SA keycaps you can get locally at a price of 65 dollars in my opinion is a good price. Something like from Domikey would still set you back over $100 dollars and you'd have to wait for them to arrive from China or US. I don't know about the quality of cheaper $30 PBT SA keycaps, nor I feel comfortable recommending them.

I haven't upvoted the deal because I don't know the quality of Ducky's SA keycaps (they looked decent enough) and you can make arguments about lack of keys for anything other than Full-size and TKL. The price is good imo.

If you said, I don't like it and therefore I wouldn't buy it, I don't think I would have continued this talk. Since who am I to say what you should prioritise? You've negged the deal saying PBT is better than ABS, and I don't think your reasoning is going to apply to everyone. Your reasoning may apply to you and others, but does it apply to everyone or matters to everyone? I don't think so. I don't think your neg is valid.

    ABS…

I can see quite a few ABS fans here…

  • Mecha is good. Just got my mine at this price a few weeks ago with the brown switches. Really solid and heavy keyboard. Switches are great too. I'd probably hold off on buying the Ducky 2's as the 3 is just released and at least there is software this time. Mecha is also a 2 but in aluminium case. No aluminium case for the Ducky 3 yet.

Something to consider for anyone not particularly in the know regarding different keycap profiles: SA keycaps are significantly taller and more scooped than the more common Cherry and OEM profile keycaps that most people would be used to. They tend to produce a much deeper sound which is nice but the typing feel is definitely not for everyone.
