Don't be tricked, you subscribe and then they raise the price in the next round of sends.

      • +1

lol, no trick. its in the description you didn't read about S&S

    • +7

They come precharged, so if you subscribe that means you don't have to worry about the inconvenience of charging them ;)

      • I'll pay extra for precharging. That's a few ¢ saved.

    • just set it to 6 month intervals.

  • +8

Phew that's a relief. We almost didn't get our daily Eneloop deal today.

  • +3

After years of eneloop deals, surely ozbargainers are stocked full of them! I can only assume that there's new ozbargainers who have discovered eneloops or there's ozbargainers who have stocks and stocks of eneloops which they will never use.

    • +9

      Neverendeloop.

    • +3

I'm stocked with the IKEA version as I live 5 mins away.

      • That reminds me I need to visit ikea soon, I'm on the last AA 4 pack.

        • +6

I think you're meant to charge them so you can reuse them =P

          • +1

@pongky: naa, I replace the crappy ones that come with new solar lights with these so they stay lit for longer. But thanks for the tip :D

    • +1

You stockpile in anticipation that Aliexpress will make a cartridge to hold your eneloops and power your electric vehicle ;)

    • I bought 4x4 more eneloop AA last discount on Amazon as I bought 4x more sensor lights which each take 4x AA batteries :)

    • +1

I'm certainly the latter. I've still got 3 or 4 packs of the tropical pack when DJ's had them for $5.

Pretty sure they were $2 in Mac centre

        LOL

    • or you just keep ending up with more things that need rechargeable batteries and you must never run out of rechargeable batteries.

  • so you can S&S for the cheaper price and then cancel the Sub ?

    • Yes, cancel as soon as it ships

      • Cancel as soon as you've ordered. Doesn't affect the initial order, only subsequent deliveries.

        • Only cancel once it ships. Otherwise the order may be cancelled too. It happened to me a couple of times.

          • @polstralian: Gadgetguy is correct, cancel as soon as you’ve ordered WILL NOT CANCEL your initial order, I do this like all the time, couple times a months.

Now. Just need a good charger.

    • A good Panasonic branded one is model BQ-CC55. Usually sold in a bundle with some Eneloop batteries.

Note: it only works for NiMH batteries like the Eneloop and Ikea LADDA.

      • I have an energizer NiMH battery charger, would that work or is it better to get the Panasonic branded one?

        • +1

Yep, so long as the chemistry is the same, the charger is fine.

        • Chargers are surprisingly complicated.
The two main things to watch for are:
          1. What battery types does it support (eg. NiMH)?
          2. Can it avoid overcharging by recognizing when the battery is full?

The second question is where the complications arise because batteries that are overcharged will deteriorate at a faster rate. Even reputable brands like Panasonic have several models that have this issue. Either they are "dumb" chargers that don't bother detecting a full charge in the first place, or they are poorly performing "smart" chargers that implement a poor detection method and end up overcharging/undercharging anyway.

The model I recommended is what I use because it is a good "smart" charger and it avoids this problem. However it is limited to NiMH batteries. In the past other users have recommended alternative chargers that can support a larger variety of battery types, however I do not have experience with those chargers.

    • i got 4 eneloop and charger for $19 last week. then just bought a bunch of ikea batteries because its the same and cheaper.

      • could you please link where you got this from?

    • LiitoKala seems to be pretty popular here.

I've got the Lii-402, very cheap and works well.

I have the Powerex MH-C9000 (https://www.protog.com.au/maha-powerex-mh-c9000-wizardone-aa…) which I got over 10 years ago and still going strong. Yes, there is a premium compared to the chargers nowadays but to me it was worth it. Just my 2c.

Edit: Sorry, looks like the model I have is discontinued and there is a newer version.
