  • can you use flybuy points to buy the cards?

    • +1

If you have coles credit card binded with flybuys membership, you can redeem 2000 pts for $10 per checkout.

    • +1

Following on from the above comment from @BennyHe2018, if you have a Coles Insurance policy or Coles Personal Loan that is tied to your Flybuys account, you can also redeem 2,000 Flybuys points for a $10 discount. Keep in mind that the $10 is a discount, so you’ll earn 10 less Flybuys points. For example, if you are purchasing a $50 Ultimate Home gift card and opt for the $10 discount, you’ll earn 40 Flybuys points, not 50 Flybuys points.

Also, you cannot use Flybuys Dollars at Coles to pay for any gift cards. You can try, but you’ll get an error.

      • +3

Exactly, leave your points in your account and the checkout machine will deduct automatically if you are eligible.

        • Oh so if still in points (not converted to flybuys dollars) we can use to buy giftcards? Wow didnt know… yes 2000 equal $10 so i need 20000 points less 15% and can get $100 gift cards

          • @CyberMurning: You can only redeem $10 only per transaction if you have eligible Coles finance products like credit card, insurance etc. You can make multiple checkouts if you don't mind.

  • +6

Waste of effort and time for 95% of the people who go looking for it

    • Agreed. Went to a few Coles during the last sale. Couldn't find anything

      • +1

My local Coles is already out of the $100 and $50 home gift cards

    • I've never had any problems finding these.

  • What is the expiry date for these cards?

    • +1

The actual expiry date of the Ultimate gift cards is three years from the date of purchase.

However, the expiry date you use for online purchases with the Visa version of the gift card is 12/29.

  • Went to check everywhere but couldn't find any stock. Also make sure you buy the exactly same color card.

    • +1

remember this deal doesn't start until Wednesday

      • +1

I am talking about the last time when the deal was on. ;)

        • I went to the nearby ghetto and found stock

  • +4

Why OP. My wallet is bleeding from the recent TCN deal.

  • +2

Is there a limit on the amount of these you can use at JB Hi-Fi in one purchase?

    • +4

In-store sales: there's no limit built into JB Hi-Fi's systems. Another OzBargainer recently used 81 EFTPOS gift cards at a JB Hi-Fi store.

Online and over-the-phone sales: the limit is one, assuming you have the Visa version of the gift card. However, the way around it is to exchange the Ultimate gift card for a digital JB Hi-Fi gift card through the dedicated Ultimate gift card exchange facility or use the Ultimate gift card to purchase a digital JB Hi-Fi gift card and then use the digital JB Hi-Fi gift card(s) for your online purchase. There is no limit for the number of JB Hi-Fi gift cards you can redeem on the JB Hi-Fi website. If you have the EFTPOS version, you cannot use that for any online (or over-the-phone) transactions.

      • Does JB Hi Fi have any other useful gift cards to swap to ?

        • +1

It depends on the gift cards sold at your local JB Hi-Fi store and your definition of "useful".

I have seen different JB Hi-Fi stores stock Apple, Google Play, PlayStation, PlayStation Plus, Xbox, Xbox Live Gold, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Steam, Nintendo eShop and Stan gift cards, but YMMV. I think there are other gift cards sold at JB Hi-Fi that I don't recall…

      • What exchange portal? Ultimate GC has exchange portal?!?

          • @WookieMonster: the portal doesn't have any JBHifi gc option to exchange. Have you even login to try it?

            • +1

@samehada: Another OzBargainer told me via DM on 21 Nov that they were able to swap an Ultimate Home gift card for a JB Hi-Fi gift card through the website I previously linked to you and they were also able to purchase a JB Hi-Fi gift card on the JB Hi-Fi website using an Ultimate Home gift card, so I assumed it was still working. I also was looking at the Ultimate gift card website around this time when I was writing this section of the page and saw you could exchange Ultimate Home/Kids gift cards for JB Hi-Fi gift cards, which is why I assumed that OzBargainer was correct. Clearly things have changed in the last two weeks!

My guess (and it is a guess, as I don’t have any Ultimate gift cards on me at the moment) is that you should still be able to purchase a JB Hi-Fi gift card on the JB Hi-Fi website using an Ultimate Home gift card. As I write this comment, JB Hi-Fi is still listed on the Ultimate gift card website as a retailer that will accept the Ultimate Home/Kids gift card online, so I assume that should still be fine (unless they have reconfigured their website to block the Ultimate gift card BIN (457824) when attempting to purchase gift cards on the website).

You may be able to also add the Ultimate Home/Kids gift card to Apple Pay and then use Apple Pay to pay for an Ultimate Home/Kids gift card on the JB Hi-Fi website if you are using an Apple device to view the JB Hi-Fi website. Again, I cannot test that right now, as I don’t have any Ultimate gift cards on me at the moment.

              • @WookieMonster: Am I correct in thinking you could buy 5x $100 VISA Home vouchers at coles, then use each of them to checkout gift cards at JB Hifi online 5 times? Do you enter the visa details like a normal credit card?

And then how many JB hifi gift cards can you use online in one transaction?

                • +1

                  @Brick50:

Am I correct in thinking you could buy 5x $100 VISA Home vouchers at coles, then use each of them to checkout gift cards at JB Hifi online 5 times?

                  That should be possible.

JB Hi-Fi currently accepts Ultimate Home (and Ultimate Kids) gift cards on their website, so it should work. You may face issues with JB Hi-Fi's fraud system stopping you if it thinks you're buying too many gift cards in a short period of time using different Ultimate gift cards each time, but I don't know whether that would happen.

Do you enter the visa details like a normal credit card?

Yep. Alternatively, if you have an Apple device, you could add the UItimate gift card to Apple Pay and pay for the JB Hi-Fi gift card on the website via Apple Pay.

And then how many JB hifi gift cards can you use online in one transaction?

I believe there is no limit.

                • @Brick50: Has anyone tried this out yet? I just tried on one of my $100 gift cards and got a Do Not Honor error message..

  • Hopefully Coles scatter them throughout the promotional period this time.
During the last Black Friday gift card promo a minibus of people cleared out my local Coles right on opening. Arrived 10 mins after them, all sold out. I wonder how many other Coles they hit up.

    • What do they do with so many cards? Surely there has to be a limit to how many are useful?

      • Ozbargain bro.

  • anybody know how many gift cards you can use at one time at Temple & Webster? (I know these Ultimate cards can't be used there, just a general enquiry, as I have TCN cards)

    • I can answer this.. I too had the same enquiry last time around with TCN one.. got one agent on their live chat that said 1 gift card only can be redeemed per order.. didn't believe it, got another agent saying as many as I like.
So I went out and got 5 TCN Home gift cards, went through the TCN site and exchanged them for Temple & Webster gift cards which came in via email.. it allowed me to use 5.. so I assume its pretty much any amount really (from what the 2nd live chat agent suggested).

  • Wow, again!!

  • Nice!

FYI you can probably purchase giftcards with these at JB by adding these physical to Apple/Google wallet. Assuming the guy behind the desk doesn’t see what card you’re tapping with.

Add your Physical Card to your Mobile Wallet
    1. Go to the Wallet app on your mobile device
    2. Click on the plus icon
    3. Select Debit or Credit card on the next screen
    4. Enter your card details Expiry enter as 12/29
    6. Your card has now been added to your mobile wallet

    • can you add more than 1 physical card to your mobile wallet? i.e 2x $100 = $200 balance

      • They’ll be treated as separate cards so I don’t see why you can’t. It’ll likely depend on your device wallet though, I think iPhones can hold up to 12 cards.

    • I have the home gift card from the previous promotion and no matter what you cannot add it to Apple Pay. It says it isn’t eligible. Tried every number on the card and nothing works

      • Their new Visa cards work. Not the old eftpos ones.

        • Oh my bad. Didn’t know these were visa
Do these stack like the eftpos ones in store?

          • @jayboi: They should work - just need to tell the cashier you’ll be doing split payment.

    • You mean adding the Ultimate Visa version?

      • Yeah the ones on this post are visa ones. Don’t think they’re producing the eftpos ones anymore, might still find them in some stores though.

  • Does anyone know if it matters with the EFTPOS cards if all the retailers are actually shown on the card itself? I have seen a heap of cards where there are only a few retailers on the card itself compared to a much larger list shown on the UGC website.

    • The EFTPOS and Visa gift cards are two separate gift cards.

The links in OP's post only relate to the Visa gift cards. If you're looking for the participating retailers of the EFTPOS gift cards, you need to go to a separate website, where you'll see the most up-to-date list of participating retailers.

      • Yep, got that thanks. However still have the same question. On the website it shows 8 retailers for the Him card, however the physical cards I can see only have 6 retailers (missing the one I want). Question is, will these work at all the retailers on the website, or only the ones showing on the physical card?

        • +3

My assumption is that the card will work at the participating retailers on the website.

The gift card terms and conditions states:

The gift card may be used to purchase goods or services at the participating retailers featured on the card in Australia with “EFTPOS” facilities who accept the gift card, provided that the gift card has enough unused value to make the purchase. Ultimate Gift Cards cannot be redeemed online. Each card has a specific set of merchants in which it can be redeemed at. For a full and updated list of participating partners please visit our website www.ultimategiftcards.com.au.

Ultimate Gift Cards have a history of adding and removing participating retailers, which is why I think the website is more likely to matter than the front of the gift card itself.

          • @WookieMonster: Hey WM,

Are these cards basically the same as the TCN ones that Coles had last week? Other than different stores etc?

            Kind regards

            • +1

@basketcase86: TCN gift cards and Ultimate gift cards are run by competing companies, but they’re similar in the fact that they’re selling gift cards that can be used at a list of participating retailers.

              • +1

@WookieMonster: Thanks, they seem like a bloody good option if you are looking for another kind of appliance or tech product.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Thanks. Decided to give it a try and worked fine.

  • +2

I used to work at Coles. Store members just hide the high value cards and buy them on their off days / tell their friends where they are hiding. They don't bother with the $30/$50 ones.

    • Not surprised mate. I went to local Coles in the morning on Day 1 of the recent TCN Cards promo and was told they are all gone.

    • So what do you recommend

Will tantrum or rolling on floor crying work

Or should I travel to 500 Coles stores today and hide one card in each packet of cereal

guys I hid some gift cards in the Kinder surprises. (Joke)

    • Do staff get extra 5% discount on top?

      • +1

The staff discount doesn't apply towards gift cards.

    • +1

Last week's TCN 15% off there were heaps of them…. the sale wasn't even advertised on the gift card stand. Maybe just depends who the employees are.

  • +2

lol nearly paid for some of these last week full price thinking they were the TCN ones. Those cards are too similar so make sure you get the right ones.

    • Yeah I bought the wrong ones. $30 lesson.

    • You get a discount right away when you scan it. If no discount. you know you got the wrong one.

  • +1

These are visa debit cards now? Can you pay ATO with? Surely not.

    • No you can't…

  • can I use my coles gift cards to purchase these cards?

    • -3

You cant use gift cards to buy gift cards.

  • +1

Used $500 of Home cards to put towards an Oven from TGG. Should have gone back to Coles to buy another $1,000 worth to maximise the discount but the process of using 5 x $100 Home cards was easy at the counter at TGG.

  • +1

See u all early morning on Wednesday at Coles, Warriors!

  • Fingers crossed Menulog continues their $6 voucher next week for added discount!!

  • Are you able to use those gift cards online as well or in store only?

    • +1

There are two versions of the Ultimate gift cards:

      • EFTPOS gift cards: can only be used in-store at the participating retailers, cannot be exchanged for digital gift cards and cannot be added to mobile wallets. These are being slowly phased out, but they’re still kicking around at some Coles supermarkets, which is why I’m mentioning it here. If you can see the card sitting on top of the cardboard sleeve and a list of participating retailers printed on the card, that’s the EFTPOS version.

      • Visa gift cards: this version is the one pictured in the deal, and can be identified by the fact that the gift card is hidden inside the cardboard sleeve. Some of the participating retailers will accept it in-store, some will accept it online or through their app, and some will allow you to exchange the gift card for one of their own gift cards. You can also add this gift card to Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay and use it at the participating retailers that accept one of these mobile wallets. You’ll need to go to the Ultimate gift card website (the links are in the deal description) to see how retailers will accept Ultimate gift cards.

  • time to go hide all the cards behind the milk isle

    • Why behind milk, keep them fresh?

    • +3

I hide them in diet section. Rarely get restock there.

  • Coles never reloaded those cards once they are gone
    Waste time

  • +1

%15 discount. How good is that. And have a friend who works in the Good guys. So staff price and %15 off . Love it

    • Think it like this. A $2000 TV will cost you $1700. Pocket the difference and tell your boss you upgraded the TV like they asks and reimburse you $2k

      Wait… Not a true story :)

    • If you don’t mind me asking, how much staff discount would they get on a base 14 inch MacBook Pro? Out of curiosity?

      • Apple
        Products hardly ever gets
        Discount. Not even $50

  • -2

Sorry didn’t understand what u said

  • Anyway to indirectly buy Steam gift cards with the cards listed in the post?

    • +1

Assuming your local JB Hi-Fi store(s) sells Steam gift cards (like mine), purchase an Ultimate Kids or Ultimate Home gift card at Coles, and then use it at JB Hi-Fi to pay for a Steam gift card.

A word of warning though: staff may tell you that you cannot use TCN or Ultimate gift cards to pay for Steam gift cards. This is because JB Hi-Fi’s head office issued a directive to all stores at the start of last year’s 15% off TCN gift card at Coles to stop customers from using TCN or Ultimate gift cards to purchase gift cards. Most staff will assume the directive was only related to the purchase of JB Hi-Fi gift cards, but some staff will insist the directive covers all gift cards sold at JB Hi-Fi (including Apple, Google Play and Steam). JB Hi-Fi’s POS system will not block you from using TCN or Ultimate gift cards to pay for any gift cards, so if the staff will let you do it, the POS system will not stop you.

      • unfortunately steam cards dont work for me i can only use Russian ones

wasted $20 on an aus one

      • @WookieMonster Legend! Thanks for such a detailed response!

How do I get a "Visa version of the Ultimate Home or Kids gift card"?

        • +1

It depends on the type of Ultimate gift cards your local Coles supermarkets stock, as there are two versions of the Ultimate gift cards:

          • EFTPOS gift cards: these can only be used in-store at the participating retailers. These are being slowly phased out, but they’re still kicking around at some Coles supermarkets.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Good to know and thank you again!

            • +1

@frankfu1122: Btw, here is a photo of the EFTPOS and Visa versions of the Ultimate gift cards.

The card on the left is the EFTPOS version, and the card on the right is the Visa version. Hopefully you’ll see what I mean by “card sitting on top of cardboard” vs “card hidden inside cardboard”!

  • How do you price match the 15pct discount off the GC with OW?

  • For those pondering over using more than 2 gift cards at TGG, i emailed my gift cards to the admin team at store and they applied it to the order for me. Please note this was an in-store order with some balance payment needed to be made.

  • +4

I used about 60 of these cards last week to purchase the 77" LG OLED c1. The lady was lovely and laughed about it while taking about 25 minutes to process the transaction. She then laughed again saying this is the longest invoice I have ever issued. Don't be scared to make a big purchase with these cards in store.

    • -1

Any issues getting 60 of them given the limit if 5pp?

      • Most checkouts allow you to perform 5 cards per transaction and are happy for you to come around multiple times. The last time I done it the checkout said the new limit was 10 but that she would need to get permission from a superior to authorise it.

    • What was the sticker price for the TV?

  • If I wish to return a product purchased using these gift cards, how would jb or tgg return the funds? Will they give you a jbhifi gift card instead.

    • +2

Staff may return the funds to a debit/credit card, but it's more likely they'll return the funds onto a JB Hi-Fi or The Good Guys gift card (or even JB Hi-Fi or The Good Guys store credit). It is not possible to return the funds onto the TCN or Ultimate EFTPOS gift cards, and I also think it is not possible to return the funds back onto the Ultimate Visa gift cards.

      • This is what happened the last time I did it.

  • Wow, that was a good guess by another member that Cole’s will do a similar deal to big w.
Actually better, but knowing my luck and all local Cole’s within 30mins drive.
took the big w deal, plenty of 100 card even 3 days after the deal started.

    Good luck everyone this time.

The staff at both coles and bigw have been nice about checking behind the cabinet, some are more thorough, but can’t complain. (Over the last couple of deals)
