    The thing is if u check Xiaomi forum, a lot units with this particular plastic valve, broke after 18months usage. Xiaomi has been giving a fu altitude and I don't think they fix it or upgrade it even tho the issue has been identified for 2-3 years now.

      Which plastic valve breaks? Is it catastrophic failure or does it just stop working? I’ve had this one for about three years and has been good. But I wouldn’t kid knowing what to watch out for.

    I show that I upvoted this, but I wanted to negative it! Looks like Ozbargain has recently changed where you can’t negative vote unless you’ve unlocked the ability.

    This thing will only last a bit after 12 months, avoid! $200 for 12 months usage is not a bargain.

    Has anyone bought one of these recently, and did it come with a water filter with 2 threaded connectors for water output rather than 1 threaded, 1 push/clip?

    Mine has 2 threaded, and all of the hardware included suits that, but I haven't been able to find a replacement filter anywhere..

      Most likely you won't need to buy a replacement filter. The unit will likely fail before you need to replace it.

          That is difficult to know as I think most people don't replace the filter within 6 months. I did remember a post a while back, someone bought a replacement filter to see if it 'fixes' up the issue. But after replacing it, it didn't get any better. Maybe too late, but not sure. FYI, I did buy the other version which is the Xiaomi Whale Spout and the one sold in Costco. Both have outlasted this Xiaomi Smartmi.

    BE VERY CAREFUL. I bought this unit about 6 months ago from Bangood (delivered from local AU warehouse) for about $260 . It failed after just 1 month. I lodged a claim and sent them all the requested documentation, pics and videos showing the fault. Then they advised i had to post it back to China to claim any warranty! It cost me $130 to send back to them with registered post. The Post Tracking stopped at Chinese customs, and then Aust Post deleted the tracking number and all history after 60 days of no tracking updates. Bangood claim they never received it and would not refund anything until they got it back. For 4 months i pressured them for a refund, they flat out refused. After 5 months i gave up and sent them a final message saying I’m complaining to ACCC. 3 days later they finally refunded me after about 5 months. I still don’t know if it ever arrived.
    Never again Bangood!

    I have bought 2 units, both failed within 2 years. The button started to malfunction and water jets became a trickle of water.

    I'm conflicted though, because my first instinct is to just buy another one to replace it, because I don't know any other alternatives?

    Right now, my existing smart toilet is just a very expensive toilet seat that doesn't do anything special.
