    thats a big heat sink

What a massive heat sink, crazy! Hope your M2 slots don’t go under GPU/CPU

I thought I was looking at a bus in the picture

  • cannot wait for water cooling rgb heatsink on nvme

  • Yeah wonder if a heatsink that big even allows the PS5 enclosure to be closed

    • You cannot put the PS5 SSD metal cover back, but it is possible to use it with that massive heatsink according to one of the comments (you do need need to google translate it). However, I think that person might have the disc edition. Maybe the large fan inside PS5 means the plastic cover on that side still gives enough clearance for this SSD with a big heatsink.

  • Have this drive from the previous deal and using it in my ps5. Working perfectly. YouTube videos show it running as fast or faster than the internal for loading of games.

    • It's good value for money as an SSD for PS5 (for now, as SSDs will be cheaper in the future). However, due to PS5 using zero fill test, instead of more traditional sequential read test, a lot of mid gen PCIe gen 4 SSD passes the test and PS5 only tests read.

That said, while this SSD does work (I also bought the one without heatsink from the previous deal) with PS5, generally, it is a bit slower than PS5's internal SSD on a number of games tested (i.e. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart) and the write speed isn't great (it's clearly a notch below the really top tier WD, Samsung and Seagate offerings).

    • with the same heat sink? any fitting issue?

  • have one,now temperature is 44℃, Samsung 980Pro 1TB is 37℃, same original gigabyte mb heatsink on both.

    • One of my SSD's temperature is 21℃. My Samsung is 41℃. Both are in the same PC. Doesn't mean anything since they don't have identical workload at this moment.

Are both drives 2TB (i.e. have NAND flashes on both sides)? 1TB NVMe SSD is likely single sided.

      • PNY XLR8 CS3040 2TB(D:) and Samsung 980 Pro 1TB(C:).The 250GB to 1TB 980 Pros come with 256Gb dies.

So double sided NVMe SSD vs single sided NVMe SSD. Can't say I am surprised the double sided one is warmer.

I thought that was a delivery truck, oh wait never mind.

  • Becausw the bigger the heatsink the faster it goes right
