Gigabyte 48" 120hz 4k OLED Monitor (FO48U) - $1699 + Shipping (Free C&C) @ Scorptec, Umart, PCCG, Centrecom & Mwave

Had my eye on this monitor for a while, and this is by far the cheapest I've seen it. Several retailers seem to be running the same deal, and some might be closer to you. Cheapest I've seen before this is $1,899. It's the same price at:

Would pull the trigger if 48c1 is this price….

    • Yeah - I think a lot of people would be in the same boat. I like having some of the monitor-specific functions, but could absolutely see why people would choose the C1 instead. It's the same panel in the end.

If it's the same panel, what's the downside of this one then

Gigabyte….They're not well known for their customer service/RMA.

        • Very little downside, which is why I went for this one. You can get a sense of the differences here.

TL;DR - implementation of the panel can make a difference, and usually conforms with what the manufacturer is aiming for. E.g., have a look at the difference in image retention in the above link. For a TV, it's less of a concern, so they deprioritise it (they turn the brightness up, for example). With a monitor, it's more of a worry, so they make changes to the implementation to mitigate the risk.

But at the end of the day, as the comparison shows, they are very, very similar.

@ColonelTazza: Main difference seems to be whatever Gigabyte has done to prevent image retention.

I have had one of these for a couple of months now. If I had my time again I would get a C1, despite the monitor specific functions.

The two HDMI 2.1 ports don't provide the full 48 gbps that the 4 HDMI 2.1 ports on a C1 do and the Display Port is prone to blanking out.

I have a heap of regret.

Read here on the 24 gbps HDMI 2.1 ports on the FO48u and the issues: https://www.techspot.com/review/2345-gigabyte-aorus-fo48u-ol…

Thanks heaps for the heads up

    • Was going to say the same. I was about to buy one of these Gigabyte monitors but looked at reviews and bought an LG C1 on Wednesday for $1,650 instead. The Gigabyte makes too many compromises and should always be much cheaper than the C1 48" for that reason

I had display port blanking on mine when running 4k@120hz with the provided cable that went away with a new correctly rated cable.

600 hours of use and I'm very happy with mine. What exactly are you missing with no 48 gbps ports? DSC will allow me resolution/refresh i need. C1 does not provide full 48 gbps either.

Isn’t the 48 c1 cheaper at jb with the 15% off gift cards ?

    • Yep, I paid $1,650 for it with that deal

    • How to get JB 15% off gift card ?

Its $1945 ATM and gigabyte isn't worth it guys.

  • I have the 43" variant of this and its amazing. I actually moved from the C1 to this for the DP and 144hz. I have a series X also and it does 120hz just fine.

    • Where did you get the Gigabyte AORUS 43" OLED monitor and at what price?

      • I think it is the 43" QLED one, not OLED

  • Does anyone use one of these, a C1 or any other OLED monitor for productivity?

I like having a big monitor for mixed use software development and gaming. I’m currently using an entry level 49” Sony 4K LED as my main monitor. It’s okay but I’m ready for an upgrade.
